I have stayed in this hotel many times. This time I stayed in room 519 which is a two room suite with a large spa bath in a separate room as well. This room overlooks the harbour, sleeping giant, and the marina on Lake Superior. The view at night was just gorgeous. They have improved their dinner menu and the food now is very good and well priced. Breakfast was also excellent -- of course both come with quite the view.
The rooms are worn out and need replacing. Apparently this is just what is going to happen sometime soon. This will make all the difference to this old and worn out property. It needs to be brought back to life.

I liked that the building was over 100 years old and didnt smell old and musty. I love that some of the hotel’s original features are still there, doors with brass knobs, the stair case etc. I stayed on the 5th floor and it was like stepping back in time when you got off the elevator, kinda cool. The staff were friendly , my room was clean and the view from my window of the sleeping giant was awesome. P.S, love that you can watch the trains roll through, honestly.
My room was a little too warm but livable . There was a jacuzzi tub in my room and holy hell that thing was loud. Aaaaand if I gotta be picky , I didn’t like that whom ever did the painting ( recently ) was careless with his brush and obviously made zero attempt to clean it up. But that’s being picky. 😊

the suite was a good size of big and was at a good price we loved the one nights stay we will for sure stay again.
we didn't like the TV's as they were old and the hotel should really change the suite tvs to newer ones that have Netflix prime and Disney on them. also the hotel need to fix the doors on each room as there's a gap at the bottom which makes people hear the ones inside there rooms and the wifi did not want to connect on the top floor.

Great service from the staff. When there was minor hiccup with the drapes in my room, the manager offered to switch me to another room (but it wasn't necessary, in my view). Friendly staff, no doubt!
No issues...I try to be a go-with-the-flow traveler and it's a historic/vintage hotel that continues to be refurbished. Bring an open attitude, work with the staff, and you can have a good stay like me (my third time now)!

This hotel is very nice, I like the character of old buildings. Staff was very welcoming and friendly. The view was fantastic! The suite we stayed in had a jacuzzi tub and it was everything I had hoped for. Very clean. They also have security guards patrolling the parking lot and main areas of the hotel which is appreciated. I had gotten an amazing deal on the room online and was not disappointed.
The area can be a little rough, I was worried about my car before staff assured me they walk the lot frequently at night. I would not go outside alone at night, hence the security guards.

Very clean room, staff was friendly. I like that the rooms and hallways have retained their charm of years gone by. Bed was very comfortable. Size of the room was bigger than expected, which was a nice surprise
I didn't realize road construction had shut down the streets in the area, which impacted the traffic and view from the hotel.

Always looking for older well maintained hotels. Sometimes the exterior better than the inside, not the case here. Staff helpful and friendly. Location great. Rooms exactly what I hoped for. Old style well maintained. Good restaurant off the lobby for breakfast. Never ate other meals there; can't speak to quality.
Wished I could have gotten a room facing the harbor.

I thoroughly enjoyed the space I had when I was staying at the Suite you provided. Thank you, for the professionalism and friendly staff who provided me with new linens and clean room in-between stay. Your front desk staff, were very helpful when it came time to changing rooms, and needing a new card, at the time I needed one. Staff in the dining room, went out of there way to prepare one breakfast, which I ordered from my room. Was fresh, and hot when I returned Tomy room. Much appreciation for the over all staff at your location. See you in a month!! -Ellyzabethe Gillies
The bed in 303 was exceptionally bumpy. Old springs, not so great for the ol' back. And the heat was cranked, when I moved from 503 to 303. Other than that, everything seemed to be in place. The fan that was provided, was exceptionally appreciated. Thank you, again.

The staff at front desk was amazing. The bed was comfortable and the room was very clean and spacious.
Unfortunately the hotel is located in an area that is a little unsafe. They have security in the lobby. Also ac unit was a bit noisy. Finally since I was on 5th floor the water pressure in the shower was not the greatest.

Best view I have ever had out my hotel windows. The lake, big ships moored for the night, lighthouse, rail lines, skateboarders, public marina and waterfront, historic train station and visitors bureau, and, the Sleeping Giant centered in my view. Wow. Room was really big. I was on the third floor, and i think the view would only have been even better from higher. I also wish I had more time to explore the hotel to see the fantastic history of the building more.
History sadly hidden under cheap renovations. I would have valued seeing that marble bathroom and oak trim. I get the new windows make the rooms more comfortable in all weather. The place is so historic it's sad not to see the old details. I'm glad the place is still open anyway, though.
