Clean, leaving outdoor shoes at door helps everyone Community kitchen gave a sharing feeling

I could not hear the instructions for keypad numbers. Although there were instructions left at front desk, I had some trouble entering front door as the recorded message was a little garbled. It would have been nice if the instructions were emailed as I was later than the stated check in time so there was a bit of stress related to getting in to the hostel. I had requested for more info about ev charging but only received confirmation that could be accommodated.Now I know it is an outdoor plug beside the entrance/motorcycle parking.

Very cool unique decor, lots of custom rustic woodworking and tables. My 4 bed female dorm had a fan, light shelf and charging outlets plus curtains to close so the light wouldn’t disturb my roommates. Security codes for outer door and my dorm, good kitchen and refrigerator plus they stored my blue ice in their freezer for me to pick up the day I left. Friendly, helpful staff that actually sat and visited with me while I had dinner so I wouldn’t be on my own. Good suggestions for groceries and restaurants.

Nada, great place!

After a few of hostels in Canada I can say the Haven Hostel is a very warm place to stay. Everybody was giving me a feeling to be very welcome. The staff member always tried to address us by our first names and took care of your feelings. The manager helped me with a free lift to the airport and monument. The housekeeping crew did the best and took care that our rooms had a good temperature by the heat. It was the best stay so far in my whole year in Canada.

The front desk gal was awesome, made us feel right at home! Super friendly and welcoming to our furry friend as well. The room was spotless and the sheets smelt nice and clean! The bed was super comfy and soft. Love the offering of shampoo, conditioning and body wash in the washroom. The lobby area and shared accommodations were great as well! Everything was so clean and organized. We had a private queen room with private washroom and it was honestly better than some hotels we have stayed at. So cozy and had everything we needed.

Everything. Amazing and well kept little marvel just a stones throw from the Casino and other dinning establishments. Right close to the waterfront. Open and spacious. We stayed here on our way out to Manitoba and decided to re book for the trip back. We stayed in “The Suite” this time around and I love its very large handicap accessible bathroom. I am a little crippled up and I really appreciated have the extra room in the very large floor shower stall. The fact that the also have a bath chair in the stall was awesome. The breakfast they offer is very good. Coffee and tea. A large fridge with individual buckets for each room so you can keep your own food to cook. Well equipped kitchen. A large comfy sitting area with good games and books to play or read. Just a really wonderful experience. One of the best hostels I have ever stayed at. Highly recommend. Price is great.

We loved how easy the property was to get to. The whole facility was very clean and it has a unique vibe to it. There is a wonderful feeling of acceptance from other guests and Staff. the Staff were amazing. Our room was spacious. the bed was comfortable and and the pillows were awesome even though we travel with our own. The bathroom was well equipped and clean. The complimentary Breakfast was one of the best I have had in a long time. There is a large common room with games to play. The white walls are filled with anecdotes of other travellers who have stayed and left their mark on the place. wifi worked great and the air conditioner units in the rooms work beautifully. A great place to stay

My husband has anxiety and is not open to some change. There is a no shoe policy…meaning you have to leave your shoes in the main entrance and because we had sandals on…we had to go bare feet. It caused him worry over someone stealing his shoes and possible germs on the floor. This is a real fear for some people. But we were able to overcome, and the friendly staff and owner let him carry his shoes to our room and keep them there. If your in sandals and bare feet you hen traveling in summer …there is a Dollarama just a few blocks away and socks are a $1.50.

It was clean, with thoughtful touches everywhere. I checked in late, the staff called for my eta, confirmed my access code and left me a note with everything I needed to know when I got in. Earplugs and a mint on my pillow! Coffee was included and delicious, staff was amazing and so warm.

I loved the location, the vibe of the hostel and the friendlyness of the staff. Bethany was especially friendly and made my stay enjoyable. I stayed two nights in the 4 bed dorm and one night in the Private Queen. I'm 1.91m tall and the bed in the dorm was a bid short for my taste (couldn't stretch out), but the private queen room on the main floor is awesome. It has a comfortable bed and a huge bathroom.

We've stayed here twice passing through Thunder Bay and both times have been so lovely. This place is so well cared for and the owners/staff put in so much effort to make you feel welcome, even for a one night stay. Super clean, great facilities, perfect walkable location. Makes us want to come back to TBay for an actual vacation one day!

I liked everything. One of the best hostel I've been to (and I've been to a lot!). The staff was awesome! The place is very clean and comfortable, there were some ear buds on the bed, I felt very welcomed and there was a lot of attention to details. There was a small fan for each bed and a curtain for more privacy. The showers are super clean.

A bit pricy but totally worth it!
