The owners were so warm, inviting and accommodating. They are doing a great job getting the inn fully functional. The restaurant was not open, but they are planning that it will be soon. The bar was fully stocked and there's a comfortable area to sit and have a drink. Breakfast was not generally available, but we were surprised on our first morning with hot croissants which were wonderful, along with fresh fruits and fabulous coffee :)

Not a matter of not liking something; but would have been helpful to know beforehand that the restaurant was not open, and how many steps it might take to get to our room :)

I stayed one night at the Auberge Lakeview Inn and found it absolutely wonderful. The vintage victorian feel of the common spaces and the room was terrific. It was comfortable and attractive and fun, and the new proprietors do an exceptional job of making everyone feel welcome. One feels as if one is lodging in a piece of quiet and meaningful history in the town. The Auberge is just a few minutes walk from restaurants and cafes, and there are very near-term plans to serve meals again at the property; I think I missed that opportunity by just a couple of weeks. The porch is lovely and the handsome comfortable bar on the first floor serves drinks and provides a cheerful space. I look forward to staying here again when I return.

Beautiful Victorian hotel. There's no restaurant but that's OK because we thoroughly enjoy the walk into town for dinner. It's such a pretty walk to get into town. There is a room with a fridge and toaster where we make our own breakfasts, very convenient. They do offer free coffee at the bar downstairs. The pool is great and we love lounging around the pool area. Very clean. Staff is friendly and helpful. This was our second stay and we're definitely going back!

This is not a negative for me but persons should be aware that, being that it's an historic Victorian hotel, there are no elevators and lots of stairs. All rooms are located on the second and third floors. So not a hotel for persons with accessibility issues.

The Auberge was just perfect. We enjoyed a relaxing stay in an old world charm type of place. Having stayed there before, I was impressed with the new owners, a lovely couple, and what they had done to the place. Clean, inviting, relaxing and perfect location for a couple who had done a lot of driving and needing a respite. The breakfast the following morning was a wonderful treat although it was not part of the room rate we were happy to pay separately. Minutes from the heart of the town, a lovely walk to explore shops and a nice selection of restaurants too.

The quaintness and scale of the Inn was wonderful to see upon our arrival. Location of this Inn was very handy to the main street of village. The Inn seemed to be the only action in town...and with their own inhouse classic wood clad pub-- with really fresh and tasty local brews on tap!!--we were more than happy! In the morning they served really good locally roasted coffee too! And we were free to enjoy our beverages out on the lovely front porch ! The new hosts are a great team and enthusiastic about our visit to their town.! We wish to see them again!

Lovely new keepers at this historical inn in Knowlton. A sleepy town that is perfect for cyclists, hikers or those just taking the slow roll to Montreal, like us. We enjoyed dinner on Main Street and a stroll along the bike path to the beach for sunset. Our room was clean and comfortable. They are working towards meal options and regular bar hours for guests, but for now just enjoy the history and relaxed atmosphere. Looking forward to coming back in the winter for X-C skiing around the lake and a cozy warm up at the inn!

The inn makes an impression when you first see it. It looks old and in need of some TLC, with peeling paint etc. When we opened the front door though, it was a really nice surprise. The lobby looks like it must have when it was built over 150 years ago. It feels like a museum, with old fashioned wallpaper and antique furniture. The wooden curved staircase is exceptional. We really enjoyed the old fashioned feel and the front desk employee was fantastic, giving us a tour of the place and telling us all about the history of the place and of the town of Knowlton. Our room was small but cozy, and the hotel doesn't have the modern amenities of a new hotel, but the old fashioned charm and warm staff made our stay unique and enjoyable.

Quaint, beautiful inn. The suite was very nice. The suite had a nice balcony to enjoy. The decorating of the inn was so beautifully done to depict the era of the building. Location was good and in walking distance of many things

The restaurant was not running BUT there are very new owners who are doing upgrades in their kitchen to have it up and running very shortly. Our suite was on the second floor which is only accessible by stairs, which was a bit hard for 69 year old women carrying luggage BUT the stair case is beautiful.

Loved the Victorian decor! This inn has a 19th century, Old World feel to it. The main staircase was wide and sturdy. It was very quiet, probably due to the wall-to-wall carpet throughout the hotel. Our room had an armoire large enough to hold most of our clothes. There were additional hooks on the wall for coats, etc. The staff was very helpful and there was a room dedicated to morning coffee and facilities for storing any food you may be travelling with. A sitting area outside that room made up for the lack of seating in our hotel room. There has been a restaurant on the first floor in the past. Perhaps it is only open in the summer. It would be a great addition to have it open year round.

In the preview the negatives were placed first. The opening statement should be the part describing the charm of this hotel. Read the 🙂 section first. If there was an elevator, no one mentioned it. The evening clerk offered to help us take up our bags, but my husband preferred to get his aerobic exercise on the stairs. The Inn needs new carpet and a good airing out. There is a bit of musty odor which often comes to places near bodies of water. If you suffer from allergies, take your antihistamines. This inn is not for the faint of heart.

Personnel was very collaborative as we had issues with booking. This is a great place, with very good management. When Booking.com was causing trouble to issue a partial refund, the personnel at the Lakeview Inn did all they could to resolve the issue. Booking.com did not, though: they were difficult, non-cooperative and made everything more complicated. For sure, next time I will NOT use Booking.com, but will rather book directly with this establishment.

Booking.com did not collaborate at all to resolve an issue with my reservation, and pretended the establishment was the problem, when it was not.
