The breakfast included fresh fruit, banana bread and traditional Costa Rican rice and egg. It was very pleasant, served in a little garden. The staff was friendly, and the location was convenient to the airport. The hotel was airy, with a nice front garden, and the rooms were fairly spacious.

There was no sound proofing between the rooms, hall and breakfast area, so it was quite loud after the first person woke up. One of our rooms was close to the front of the hotel and had a fluorescent vacancy/no vacancy sign flashing in its window all night. The coffee could have been stronger.

We chose a location close to the airport, good price, no luxury. We got what we paid for: in the vibrant and authentic old town of Alajuela (what is much more attractive than the huge city area of San Jose), a familiar bed and breakfast, with a nice little room for a fair price. The staff is very friendly and they serve a well organized breakfast in the pretty patio. They organized us a taxi that appeared exactly at 4 pm and the very important sense of staying there was done perfectly. Thanks for this great stay!

The hotel is in the heart of Alajuela, about 15 minutes from the airport, half an hour from San Jose (by taxi, if traffic isn't too bad), half an hour from Poas volcano and right behind the Museo Juan Santamaria. There are good restaurants and cafes right around the corner (El Chante Vegano is a favourite). We stayed at the beginning and end of our Costa Rica trip because of the hotel's convenient location near the airport. Breakfast is free, filling and healthy but nothing extravagant. Rooms were always impeccably clean. Wifi was very quick. Reception is open 24/7 which was helpful because we arrived in the evening. Staff members were always friendly. There are cute front and back gardens to catch some sun with a book. Be prepared to lavish attention upon the owners' dog, Journey, who can be spotted with her painted pink nails and hair accessories!

The room we stayed in when we first arrived did get a little warm in the heat and there was no AC (though there was a fan), and the bathroom was very small so my boyfriend's long legs bumped the wall if he used the toilet. I really liked the room we had during our second stay at the end of the trip: air conditioned and much bigger bathroom. Worth asking the hotel when you book for an air conditioned room if that can be accommodated - temperatures in Alajuela were pushing 30 degrees Celsius.

The staff are amazing! Breakfast was delicious and beautiful, plant filled area. Love the wall ability to town while also feeling safe. It’s the best place to stay in town by far.

I requested a room with a connected bathroom months in advance, to find out out that the day we arrived a ton of rooms were booked day-of and they for some reason got the room+bathroom rooms that I requested way in advance. So we had to use a shared / public bathroom down the hall.

My husband and I were “stuck” in Costa Rica for an extra two nights and needed somewhere quick and comfortable to spend the night. The Alajuela Hotel and Guest house was perfect. Checkin was easy, the staff was helpful and accommodating, and the breakfast offered was delicious. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the back courtyard is a tranquil place to read or have some coffee. The neighborhood was also great and walkable and we enjoyed dinner at a restaurant next door.

The owners were so welcoming and friendly- it was like staying with friends. The courtyard breakfast exceeded expectations, very tasty, and the courtyard itself was a peaceful oasis from the city. The room was fairly basic, as expected, but clean and with a good, strong shower. Location was great for a cheap and easy Uber ride.

The rooms in the front of the hotel let in light and nouse from the street and from noise the main door/people hanging out in the lobby. Not horrible, but the walls are a bit thin. Without AC, the room got a little warm/stuffy.

The location is perfect for a first stay after a tiring trip from Europe to San José. Warm welcome and dedicated staff helped us around a good breakfeast. The hôtel can provide a helpful last night before coming back home by plane. We liked also the security provided in this town location and it's peacefull oasis atmosphere Special thanks and Gratitude for the hôtel Team and their assistance 24h/7x7 ;-)

Comfortable beds and breakfast was included in the price. Very close to the airport.

There is a bar next door that is extremely loud at night. Personally, I can sleep through that kind of thing but if you are a light sleeper, make sure to pack ear plugs. The noise did die down by midnight however. The breakfast was very small and microwaved (we heard her microwave all the foods). The mornings sound hectic bc the receptionist was also cleaning the tables and acting as a waitress so it took a while to get our breakfast.

Lovely building with a great feel, nice relaxed common area inside and out (the outside patio was particularly delightful). Great location near some spots recommended by staff that we enjoyed immensely. Room was just as described, comfortable, clean and set up nicely. Also felt very secure and well tended to / attended by staff.

Can’t think of a single thing we disliked about this spot !
