Great location! Only a 10 minute walk to Monteverde Cloud Forest. Cozy rooms with beautiful wood planking. Has an old school charm. Beds were very comfortable. Beautiful view with a little sitting area overlooking the garden and trees. The staff were very attentive, friendly and helpful. Ate dinner at the restaurant a couple of nights and both times it was delicious! And sit down breakfast was delicious as well! Grounds were beautiful with lovely gardens. Could see monkeys in the trees outside our window! Our family enjoyed our stay and we would definitely stay again!

It was very windy at times, which is often the case when so close to the cloud forest. Though it made for an exciting stay, it could keep people awake at night. Best to bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper. 😉 We did fine though. Lighting in the room could be better. Although cozy, it was a bit dim with the dark wood. Also, it would be nice to have a small microwave in the room. 😉

We upgraded our room for $50 for 3 nights to have a better view, it was worth every penny. We ended up with a super king size bed with 2 duvets as it is pretty chilly up there. The staff was helpful, the room was clean. Breakfast was not the best we had and the breakfast room is strangely bland but we didn't spend much time there. The staff booked a night tour for us which I would definitely recommend. We walked up to the Monteverde reserve and booed a tour. Make sure you go to the Colibri cafe to witness to most amazing numbers of hummingbirds flying around the feeders.

Breakfast room could be better.

Friendly, helpful staff. Walking distance to Monteverde Cloud Forest Nat. Park. Wonderful breakfasts included to start the day. Nice restaurant with happy hour, 4-6.

No coffee pot, microwave or small refrigerator in room. Had to throw away leftovers.

Basic breakfast. Only 3 options which were adequate. Only serve white bread and no breakfast meat choices. Coffee was not hot . I would have liked cereal & yogurt options added to menu.

The lighting in the room was a bit dim. And we had to request a heater as the room was chilly. There was no thermostats to adjust to your desired temperature. The towels & bath mat seemed old and worn thin and we had no hand towels. Kleenex too would have been appreciated.

Easy parking, nice mountaintop garden surroundings, very pleasant breakfast dining, food and service. Fun happy hours in hotel bar, with adjacent dining room. Varied menu, wines and very good service.

Rooms are large, high ceilings, big beds. Large closets to hang clothes. Private entry, nice screen door option. For those with mobility issues, the slope of the property and hill requires some walking to rooms and breakfast.

We were returning to Monteverde for the sole purpose of experiencing the cloud forest reserve, so we wanted to stay close to it. This fit the bill perfectly. We had stayed in Santa Elena last year and already done our other sightseeing, so our focus was limited this time. However, we did take advantage of a coffee plantation tour that included transportation, which reception booked for us. The setting and grounds are beautiful, but it really is in the clouds, so don't expect a lot of sunshine. We really appreciated and support their social awareness and eco-friendly attitudes and practices, including recycling!

The dirt road up the mountain is narrow and very rutted, so i would not recommend driving it with anything other than an SUV or Jeep with good tires and suspension. There are several interesting arts & crafts shops just down the road, but otherwise this isn't really the best location for driving back-and-forth for sightseeing. It was uncomfortably chilly in our room due to the wind/rain, poor window insulation and no heat. Breakfast bread for toast was terrible and rice-and-beans was bland. However, the dinners we ate there, while comparatively over-priced for CR, were very good.

Room was big and very clean with a direct view on some big trees that gave a forest vibe during the night :) room has canvas representing the wildlife, super nice! Food was good, we didn’t manage to have breakfast because of an early tour at the national park, but they saved some boxes for us when we came back. We tried their restaurant and was good! At the reception we were able to organize cool tours :) Most of the things are payable with card

fantastic location, just 15 mins walk from Monteverd Cloud Forest reserve. The highest up hotel you can get in Monteverde - sometimes it is literally in the clouds. So very atmospheric views. Lovely views from mountain suites. Big rooms, lots of space. Plenty warm enough at night - blankets and duvet on bed. We didn't need both. Nice to have coffee maker in the room Organised our trips well. Good food in restaurant - we had the chicken fajitas which were very tasty but weirdly with no flour tortillas, and great pizza. Nice breakfasts - pancakes were lovely

room service slow to bring us extra towels - we had to ask 3 times. finally got them

The lodge was very comfortable and convenient to Monteverde cloud forest. It was a 15 min walk for us. Breakfast was nice and the staff were so helpful! Dinner at the restaurant was good and also convenient.

Most of the properties in this location do not have direct heat to the rooms. Felt like a camp room as for temp. Nice for me but my daughters were cold. But after they went to sleep they were good.

Few hotels are closer the entrance of the cloud forest. The dining room where breakfast is served is spacious with tall glass windows. Personable waiters these and in the dining room made both meals most enjoyable. Although it was quite a bit uphill to reach our row of rooms, the enormous bay window offered a spectacular and private view overlooking the beautifully landscaped grounds and distant mountains.

The room wasn't heated, so upon request on an especially cold winter winter night management did provide a small portable heater.
