The location is great. You could walk out to the street and immediately be in the thick of all the action (Cabarete is very boisterous along the street side) or you could walk back inside the resort and it was a calm, quiet retreat that felt very safe. We were there in early February and there was always room at the pool, felt like we had our own private palapa each day. The pool water was a little cold this time of year, but still swimmable. Ocean water was warm, but the waves are pretty intense in Cabarete. It didn't stop people from swimming, but mostly the bay is used for wind and kite surfing. Very fun to watch. I was pleasantly surprised by the hot water and water pressure in the bathroom at the hotel. You could definitely get a good shower, but be sure to bring your own toiletries. The wifi was also really, really good. Breakfast was pretty good, but there are better options in town. Just depends if you want free or not. Eating and drinking out adds up fast because of the high taxes, so it was nice to have the option of the free breakfast. We liked that this area was a little more of an authentic vibe, not people sequestered away inside resorts, and we could easily walk out into the town and interact with the people who call this place home.

It should be known that this isn't really an area for nightlife. Young people looking to party won't find a lot to do here. There's several lovely beach bars/restaurants, some dancing and karaoke, but the people visiting this area and this hotel were mostly 50-60+ in age and everything shut down around 10p. Also, this is not a "resort" in the way many people think of a resort. This is an older hotel/condo with one decent sized pool and one outdoor restaurant. Not really any other amenities. We thought it was charming and it suited us for this trip, but we did our research and understood what we were getting.

Amazing location, best for sunsets and to enjoy the cabaret beach! The swimming pool is great and clean, the staff always welcoming. A great choice for a couple enjoying the kit surfing beach or family.

The included breakfast… unfortunately is all very greasy and fried, no fresh fruits and non dairy options at all. Even if you asked at extra cost the fruit or hard boiled eggs will be very hard. Also every time we asked for something we got random things on the plate… example ham and comes bacon etc. Also disliked the housecleaning to come at non announced times several times per day to drop an extra towel etc (without me being there). Expect to also see cheap prostitutes with older men around, not only passing by but enjoying the pool etc next to you.

An excellent hotel at a beautiful location with a nice pool right at the beach. Good restaurant with a reasonable choice of food. Secluded garden setting, All rooms have ocean view. Some 300 meter walking to the 10 to 15 beach front restaurants and bars, You can walk over the beach. A big supermarket at 50 meter closeby, also laundry shops and many other shops on walking distance. There is much security around the hotel and very friendly staff everywhere. Taxi transportation from/to the airport was arranged by the hotel and costs 2.000 pesos (some $ 35).

In the booking process I booked a room of 50 m3 but that was the size of a double room; our room was 25 m3. That was a disappopintment and that should be changed in the booking.com system. Minor repairs had to be done in the room, but those were done instantly on our request. There is not much to do in the area around Cabarete.

Family of 6, I definitely would recommend Velero Beach Resort, the staff was great, rooms were clean, breakfast was as included with the price, we stood 5 days/4 nights Monday thur Friday, breakfast options was excellent. Dinner was a fair price and delicious. Supermarket is right up the block, the beach and cabarette restaurants is about 5/7 min walk. I will definitely go back, we found our spot.. the resort wasn’t full on the weekday which was awesome and very peaceful, security was great Jesus was so nice and very attentive, at the resturant Joselito in the morning so great, Felix was great for dinner. Jisleny receptionist that works in the morning is very professional and explains everything by steps. Very polite and helpful. Thank you Velero Beach Resort for a great praceful and relaxing time.

The pool is like an oval which I was a bit disappointed bc I don’t know how to swim and only was able to stay where the stairs of the pool was. Other then that everything was just perfect.

We picked this hotel for a romantic getaway for our wedding anniversary, and the place didn't disappoint. Everything was spot on, the room was good size and clean, and the entire hotel felt well-kept. The best part by far is the views and the outside area, especially the infinity pool and its surroundings. The food and the cocktails in the hotel's restaurant definitely are in the top 5 of what we experienced in the DR so far (we spent nearly a year in Cabarete and tried dozens of places). Both the steak and the seafood paella was just right. The service is friendly and welcoming, much better than what we ran into in the DR before. Overall, the hotel has a very laid-back vibe and we enjoyed every minute of our stay. Would definitely book again.

Coffee/tea in the rooms would be a nice touch. Other than that, everything was great.

We loved the restaurant, the pool, and the proximity to the beach, grocery store & all the amenities along the beach. Breakfast was included, but exceeded our expectations so we returned for dinner and found that the food and cocktails were top-notch, not to mention that the sunset views are fantastic! Every member of the staff was friendly and accommodating, and we felt very appreciated as guests. The concierge, Roosevelt, went above and beyond to ensure our stay was pleasant and that we had access to excursions and transportation to & from the airport. We would return here in a heartbeat!

We did not like that the hotel allowed guests to "reserve" pool loungers by placing a towel on them. Some of the guests left their towels on the loungers all day and night and then felt they had the right to chase other people away from using them. I realize this is a common practice, especially with the older guests, but there are ways the hotel can help prevent the behavior (e.g. they could easily add a rule to their list that doesn't allow saving lounge chairs, or make more effort to remove towels at the end of the day or at specific times during the day).

Everything was great, from the reception to the infinity pool, next to the ocean, long morning walks, and breakfast included, and not too bad.

The apartments or rooms are not very modern, and some shower heads do not all work. I was waiting in the restaurant for over 10 minutes to get served and then another 10 minutes to order, they only had two people waiting and the restaurant had more than 20 people sitting, so I understand. Overall it was fine, they just need to modernize the rooms and AC units. It costs about $100 per night including tax.

it was cleaned and the staff is excellent.the restaurant is facing the ocean and the food is excellent.

in day number 2 that i was at the hotel there was a group of 3 men in a room next to mine and they had loud music all night and they were making too much noise non stop, the hotel staff had to changed my room because these 3 people never stopped making so much noise.

The reception opens directly to a magnificent view of an infinity pool and a gorgeous beach, overlooking Cabarete's beaches full of kite surfers. The pool area is simply wonderful, relaxing, with many bed-type loungers. The restaurant is also beautiful, open to the pool and sea; prices are more that reasonable for the great food served (starting at 300-400 pesos, some 8$). Great breakfast options. Rooms are very spacious and the staff is very welcoming and helpful. Garden is superb and well maintained. Good parking. There is an enormous supermarket around the corner

Cannot find anything negative here.

We had a reservation for 17 people and we used 3 of their penthouses, plus 2 normal rooms. The penthouses are big apartments, with all the amenities you could hope for. Great AC, full kitchen, 2 modern bathrooms, and 2 big rooms. The view is beautiful! From the rooms, restaurant and pool you always have an amazing view with the perfect sun and breeze, it is really a prime location. There is a supermarket 2 minutes away, great to restock on everything you might need. Rusbel, the manager, was always checking on us, asking if we needed something or what he could do to improve our experience.

The location of the hotel requires you to take taxis or mototaxis to kitebeach. One of my friends hurt their knee on the pool (sharp border inside) and they didn't offer anything in exchange. The water pressure of the room could have been better.
