Our first visit to the Dominican Republic could not be more amazing and enjoyable as here! We were two families sharing the biggest room - a gorgeous Swiss family Robinson style accommodation with a front completely open to nature and the ocean view… stunning and unique. The kids loved the beautiful views, beach, pool and outstanding breakfasts (prepared with love by Daysi!) and parents loved the relaxed natural ambiance, food, beach bar and easy access to beach combing, surfing, kiting, snorkelling, and horse riding by walking or guagua (shared minibus taxi). Staff were helpful and accommodating. Perla Marina has a great little grocery and outstanding pizzeria too. We will be back to the Dominican Republic and it will be hard to stay elsewhere.

The Eco Lodge is amazing. If you, like me, prefer to travel consciously and authentically this place is all that! Local and kind staff. Waking up and being able to hear the ever changing sea before even opening your eyes is truly wonderful. There's a chill island vibe at the spot - doesn't really feel like a hotel - and I mean that in the best way possible. I definitely felt recharged after our stay there and it was our favourite place out of 4 in the DR. Cabarete is a nice town 10 min/600 pesos away (Sosua too). If you plan on exploring the area, it's probably better to rent a motorcycle. There are other tourists, but not to an extend where the town loses its identity. All in all we really loved it.

I think it's a little too expensive although I don't regret having this experience. Walls are thin, you can hear conversations etc. that the neighbours are having. Lamp wasn't working hence a dark room. We didn't get a towel for drying our hands. No housekeeping if we weren't home. Payment has to be by bank transfer or paypal. Breakfast and restaurant hours are a little tight. All of this is okay - but I think it should be cheaper because of this. I would return, but probably get a cheaper room.

This was a very unique hotel with open-air treehouse rooms. The beachfront location was also amazing! It was one of the coolest places I have personally stayed at. The location is about a 10-minute drive from the main part of Cabarete and about 45 min from Puerto Plata. Compared to other local places, it is a little pricey including the on-site restaurants but I'd say it's worth it.

Not necessarily disliked, but consider families and children staying there if that's not your vibe.

5 days in Paradise! Not a care in the world. Everything was right there where the land meets the sky and the sea... magical... as far as your eyes and feet could take you. The friendly staff took care of our family of 5's every need. Pet friendly to the max! Our 2 large dogs had the time of their lives romping up and down the beach with the other dogs (and humans). Fresh water for them was never far away with 2 locations to fill your bottle (provided). Reasonable menu kept our bellies full and special orders were not a problem. Taking advantage of the included breakfast items with fresh tropical fruits and strong coffee made starting the day even easier. Come let the sound of the surf wash away your worries and pause time for a while!

It is a little hidden gem in paradise, the place is clean, beautiful and the bed comfortable. Their food menu is small but everything was really delicious and the free breakfast was a plus. Daisy makes really yummy breakfast.

our only drawback is that after booking they’d want you to pay by Zelle, PayPal or bank transfer. Or by cash, plus to buy anything on their gift shop or bar/restaurant is with cash. They say is so you don’t have to pay taxes, but the total amount of my booking was charged and that included $80 in taxes. So it’s more so they don’t have to pay taxes. I found that a bit shady. But it really didn’t affect the stay and the staff was really friendly.

The hotel is just beautiful! You can walk out straight into a quiet beach or walk the trails along the coast. There is a surf rental shop/school and cafe about 15 minutes away at Encuentro beach which is fantastic. Easy trip into Cabrete, or make use of the local restaurants in Perla Marina. There are lots of friendly animals (Musha the dog ♥️) and spots to hang out at the hotel. The staff really helped us with our travel options despite the language barrier!

The restaurant views are amazing, but the food was underwhelming. Go somewhere else for food and come back for drinks at the bar! The facilities are a bit more rustic (as expected from an eco lodge) but we had a fan instead of A/C which made the nights a bit sticky!

i enjoyed the property went off the beaten path and even though it is a resort the property itself felt more intimate . the staff was professional , friendly and provided a quiet low key relaxation atmosphere . a different and welcoming vibe then other resorts I have visited .

im not sure it is planned. it maybe in the shower to have the ability to have warm / hot water . I am not sure if it’s part of preserving the eco integrity of the property but maybe that could be a feature to consider if it’s not already in place . I do know the resort is very environmentally friendly .

Cabarete Maravilla Eco Lodge is the exact type of accommodation I was looking for. It's an eco-friendly, spacious outdoor designed for relaxation in nature. Their entire crew of employees are amazing people and made my stay even better. The owner Marc and the entire crew went above and beyond to assist me with transportation, local experience, kitesurfing sessions, rental, and so on. The food was delicious and local. I loved that this is not in the middle of the touristy area; there are beautiful beaches and walking trails to experience the surrounding; sunrises and sunsets are remarkable. Five stars for Nando.

The name "Maravilla" says it all – we had an incredible stay. The staff were all very friendly, especially the breakfast woman. The facilities were well kept, everything rustic but clean and tasteful. Fresh local fruit every day at breakfast. Very nice pool, no annoying "pool opening hours" like many hotels. Possible to rent beginner surf boards at the hotel. The beach in front of the hotel was amiazing and had decent waves for beginner surfing, and offered paradise like sunsets. The hotel bar was very nice, free cold water 24h, very good and decent priced food, could even make meals not on the menu. The neighboring beaches were also amazing, and offered an amazing and scenic 20 min walk to "playa encuentro" (for more advanced surfing).

The only negative thing I can think of, was the inability to pay by card. Only cash and bank transfer. It took well over one hour to get checked in, slow internet connection while connection to the web version of my internet bank, timeouts and simultaneous connection with the owner over WhatsApp. Oh, and it would have been better to have rented at car to come and go as one like, unless paying for taxi every time leaving and coming to the premises is feasible. From the main road between Sosua and Cabarete where the local buses can drop you off/pick you up, it takes about 20 min to walk.

This place is incredible. It's literally a treehouse but with all amenities: shower, toilets, comfy and large bed equipped even with a mosquito net. The roof is made traditionally (sort of leaves of some plants / trees) and they have thought at practically all details to make the decor harmonious. Due to the proximity to the sea (at most 10 meters), it was never too hot. But it's "noisy" with the waves. The waves are monotone and my partner didn't have problems to sleep, for me I needed earplugs. It's not really a complaint, but a consideration. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast served at the hotel was really good. They also have a very good restaurant for lunch / dinner The beach is virtually private: the area is gated so the beach is shared only by the guests of this hotel and of the other (small) hotels nearby. We have never seen more than a handful of people sharing the whole beach. Also quality wise, it's ranking within the best beach we've seen in DR, and clearly ahead of the ones in Cabarete / Sosua.

Nothing. It was the most special and the best experience "hotel" we had during our stay in the DR.
