Shangrila Mactan is always the place to be. Everything is wonderful. Staff are all nice we were greeted with welcome drinks. The room has a lot of amenities and the bed is amazingly firm as always. The pools and beach access are great. The breakfast buffet could be a warzone but it is a wide variety. Will always come back here.

1. Our rates was $300 per night including taxes. We reserved Ocean View rooms but we got rooms with no good ocean view. 2. We dont like how I asked for earlier check-in but we were replied that rooms arent ready. So we got in at 4pm. 3. Late check out of 1pm isnt allowed. So not really happy with paying $300 a night for less than 24 hrs stay. Tsk tsk. 4. The room has an old musty smell. They should correct this. 5. The restaurants are all full and the earliest time to eat with an available table is 8:30pm. So we had to walk outside to eat at outside restaurants which turned out great because there was a cute French Restaurant and we loved it.

Service, hospitality, private beach, ocean wing lounge, location (near from the airport).

Facilities are a bit old

Wonderful concierge service. They took scale to the room to measure the weights of the luggages. They have a lively restaurant at the beach. They have wonderful food and service there. Wonderful managers and staff there at this restaurant. They listened our special requests for the food for the kid and provided wonderful and delicious food. By rain, they put our table into the restaurant and send us to the ocean wing lobby by club car. The beach and the pool is wonderful for a child between 4-12 years old. They are very clean and well decorated. They even provide pool toys. The beach has white sand and shallow water. The kids can feed the big fishes at the shallow part of the sea by the provided fish food by the staff. They provide snorkels which will be nice after the shallow part of the sea. The gym was very nice. They provide cold free water everywhere.

The front office at the start of our stay was awful. He tried to sell more to us like a amateur shopper not well suited to Shangri La. We have altready mentioned that we had stayed at many Shangri La in the world. He tried to upgrade us with money. We mentioned that we will not be happy with a standard room with our child. But he didn't understand. I think Shangri La should provide a family room as a standard for a family with a child. We were not happy with the room that he provided us because of the child. International food menu especially for vegetarians and children are very limited. They need to enlarge the variety.

The food, cultural show, and staff were all great! The resort is sprawling with lots of things to do. This was my second time to come here because I wanted my grandkids to enjoy the fish sanctuary

Property is wonderful no complaints.

Safety. Bags screened through scanner at entrance and k9 sniffing dog. Another example was when wanting to enter our room while it was being cleaned; staff asked your name and to swipe your card to prove it's your room, great! Privacy. Private beach. Own cabin during massages at Chi Spa. Quality. Everything is so beautifully laid out, designed, high-quality fabrics, bed, etc. Everything is so fabulous that even the trashbins look good. A must-mention: the food. Whatever you're having, it's all delicious. We recommend the Chinese restaurant, specifically their Chef's signature prawns with mango (starter) and the Australian beef (main).

Sometimes children are too loud (yelling/screaming). Usually not the child's fault, but their parents, more often than not, don't do much about it. This can't be at a peaceful, serene hotel (note the name!). Therefore, we feel it's up to Shangri-la staff to go to the parents and request action on the matter, perhaps reminding them there are other guests..

I like their breakfast buffet and their service

Their room needs renovatin. The bath tub in the shower is kinda old style. They need to separate the bath tub and shower. Their toilet is old too

The beach was clean, not too big but plenty of lounge chairs to find a spot. Lifeguards were knowledgable and service was great. Breakfast was outstanding and the amount of food options phenomenal. We required vegan and gluten free food and Chef Rizzi and the entire team at the Tides restaurant went our of their way to prepare food according to our daily wishes! Our room was old but clean and spacious. Unfortunately we were located in the main wing above the main bar and loud music would play until close to 11pm every day. Fresh water was refilled several times a day and I love the fact that the hotel is making an effort to encourage sustainability with towels and sheets. The Chi Spa was excellent and its treatments, the surrounding and the staff a dream. The in resort app made requests and communication super simple.

The gym and its facilities are old and dirty not to say filthy. The womens changing rooms were sandy and the showers full of hair and dirt. Amenities always empty. The sauna only worked twice and the steam room was out of order all week. One of the showers was out of order and whenever we used the facilities water was running in it and the tap was broken - what a waste of water!!!!

The resort itself is beautiful. The facilities and gardens are just gorgeous. The breakfast each morning was superb. Its great having a choice of different restaurants to have dinner each night. The beach and pool areas were fabulous. The water at the beach was clean and clear and there were plenty of fish to see when snorkeling. Hopefully the coral will regenerate over the years to come. The staff were very accommodating. We travelled as an extended family group and they were able to change rooms for us so that we had interconnecting rooms. There is plenty for the kids to do.

There is room for improvement in the efficiency of food orders at the pool area. Drinks were delivered quickly but sometimes we waited up to an hour for food which wasn't great with young hungry children! The resort was a bit of an oasis located within a impoverished local area. Apart from the Mactan Shrine, there isn't much to see within walking distance outside of the resort.

I enjoyed my stay at Shangri-La Mactan, Cebu, a beachfront resort located on the tropical island of Mactan in the Philippines. The hospitality at this hotel was very friendly and professional. The resort features elegant accommodations, a private white-sand beach, and lush gardens. There are a range of recreational activities, including snorkeling , and dining at multiple restaurants. There was some plumbing issues in the room, property may require some updates.

The staff were exceptional. They interacted very well with the young children. In particular would like to call out Jenica who was kind and went the extra mile for the kids showing them plants and fish. As vegetarians the chefs accommodated us well adding a veggie broth to all the buffets and also making us some custom meals. There were plenty of activities for kids including mini golf, table tennis, water playground etc which we loved.

The kids club could have more complementary activities through the day. There were 2 slots at 12 and 2pm but adding some in the morning and maybe later in the afternoon would be wonderful. The adventure zone could be made complementary or better long term play rates needed.
