I stayed here for three nights to relax and it did the trick. I will definitely be back next year. The staff are lovely and attentive. The room was spacious but I was given an accessible room. The room was very quiet even though next to the lift. The restaurant meals were superb and a good sign was the limited choice in the menu. All the dishes were delicious, especially sitting outside made for a pleasant evening. The wine was great and being served drinks by the pool was good. There is a nice walk down to the garden and to the river.

Everything was perfect.

Loved the art. The hotel has very traditional rooms particularly the room with an amazing collection of different cognacs. Then there is the art and design in the bedrooms and corridors and even on the outside. See two photos. Much of the art is quirky with a sense of humor. Also there was good communication from the hotel and the staff facilitated a booking of a restaurant in town which we enjoyed.

The hotel is not within easy walking distance of Cognac center which because the hotels restaurant was closed on the two nights we were there (early in week) meant that we had to drive into town to eat.

Quaint old hotel high on the banks of La Charente river with amazing views across the valley below. Genuinely welcoming staff who went the extra mile to help make our one-night stay more than special. We arrived mid-afternoon and were able to enjoy drinks by the pool. The bedrooms have all recently been repainted by local artists with individual and quirky styles - but it works! There is no restaurant service out of season on Sundays/Mondays, so we had to rely on the hotel to book somewhere for us. Excellent choice made (a steak house on the river at Cognac), but it did mean we had to drive there. When we got back to the hotel, it was pretty shut, but the lovely [Dutch] manager agreed to open the bar so we could sample one from the huge selection of cognac's on offer. She provided an excellent choice based on our individual preferences. I just regret not taking a photo of the bottle for future reference! Breakfast the following morning was superb - on the terrace with the views - and a huge choice of fresh produce. Worth a detour to stay here.

We were in mid-June, so early in the season and understandably the restaurant was not open on Sunday / Monday like many in the area. We might have stayed elsewhere had we known, but glad we didn't as it is a great find. And close to our boat pickup at Jarnac the following morning.

My wife and I discovered this hotel, fleeing from extreme heat, which made our vacation nearly impossible. We were pleasantly surprised when we saw this beautiful chateau and received a complementary upgrade to a gorgeous suite with plenty of space, period furniture and, needless to say, quiet air conditioning. The restaurant on the property was magnificent, with its impressive décor, large selection of gourmet entries, and excellent service. XO Hardy cognac from handcrafted crystal bottle was unforgettable. We look forward to staying at this magnificent place next time!

What a fabulous place to stay. We will definitely come back! We stayed at Hotel L’Yeuse after arriving at La Rochelle airport, on our way south. The hotel is an easy drive from the airport and we arrived in time to have a fabulous dinner outside on the terrace overlooking the valley. The staff were all so welcoming and the catering team were able to prepare a delicious dinner for all of us, including my daughter who has severe food allergies. We had reserved two rooms. Both had very comfortable beds and we greatly appreciated the blackout curtains as it’s bright at this time of year. Thank you for making this a fabulous first night of our holiday. We will definitely return.

We loved everything.

This was our second visit to the hotel, after a gap of 3 or 4 years. In the interim, the hotel had been refurbished with the involvement of local artists, who have done an excellent job. The service was even better that we had enjoyed on our first visit. The hotel is well located for visiting Cognac and its extensive grounds are well worth exploring.

The hotel restaurant, where we ate outdoors on their beautiful terrace, was catering for a large group on the day of our stay. They kindly agreed to accommodate us, but the service was, understandably, a little rushed.

A beautiful hotel set in glorious grounds. There was plenty of parking, an outdoor swimming pool, indoor spa, beautiful lounge, bar area and restaurant. Our room was nicely decorated and well equipped. We wish we had had more time to fully utilise the facilities. Breakfast was good too. The receptionist and breakfast waitress were both charming and welcoming. We would definitely stay again if we were in that area.

Lovely and quirky, beautiful chateau hotel. The artists work in the bedroom was lovely. Loved all the decorative touches and artwork everywhere. The staff were excellent. Really helpful. The dinner was fabulous and breakfast too. This was a 1 night stop on a road trip across France back from Spain and was a lovely bit of luxury.

Great views. Lovely terrace to sit and have a drink and also for breakfast and dinner. A typical french breakfast, pastries, lovely fromage blanc and fresh fruit salad. A great walk down through their wooded grounds to the banks of the river Charente. Quite a climb back up!

The room had not been cleaned when we returned after our walk. This was rectified while we were out so was not a big problem.
