Before our trip, we spent a long time searching for the perfect place to stay. The description of this Château intrigued us, but the reality surpassed all expectations. A stunning location, a beautiful house, and incredibly warm hosts - Robert and Christine! They not only welcomed us with genuine hospitality but also recommended wonderful places to visit, helped us find great restaurants, and assisted with bookings. The atmosphere here is unmatched - cozy, stunning, and full of charm. Mornings begin with beautifully presented and delicious breakfasts, while the day can be spent admiring unique trinkets that make you feel truly special. Evenings bring their own magic, wrapped in the Château’s peaceful ambiance. Without a doubt, this has been one of the best vacation experiences. A heartfelt thank you to Christine and Robert!

This beautiful period property is set off on its own down a long driveway/road, but is an easy drive to the pretty Montignac with its many restaurant options and the Lascaux sites. It has open fields, a pond, animals and walnut tree groves that make for peaceful walks. The room and bath were spacious, comfortable, clean and quiet. Christine is a friendly, knowledgeable and lovely hostess and provides a very tasty and plentiful breakfast. There is also an indoor pool/spa in the lower level for guests, but we did not have the opportunity to use it. Highly recommend!

Our room was so elegantly furnished and decorated and the shower was excellent. The bed was very comfortable The common areas were so much fun.....grand but also a veritable emporium of French elegance mixed with brocante. Completely fun to choose a favourite breakfast plate and tea cup from the huge variety there!! Yummy breakfast. Cristine and Richard are perfect hosts, warm and welcoming. Christine anticipates your needs (did you want breakfast on the terrace? And when we got there, she had thoughtfully put cushions on our chairs and set down pretty linen placemats). Loved our stay.

The location is lovely, and not far from many pretty villages and towns. Our GPS took us on rather a convoluted route to the chateau which was tricky. We were there at the end of summer, past the garden's glory. The front of the chateau would be beautiful with some shrubs and pretty pots. Christine and Richard have plans for planting wildflowers through some of the fields which will be lovely in addition to the already beautiful views of woods, walnut grove and fields from the terrace. It was lovely watching the swan on the lake.

This amazing chateau is nestled in peaceful private forest next to the lake, the views are beautiful. The rooms are spacious and decorated nicely, every single detail has a touch of love. The whole building is completely renovated, well equipped, everything is of very good quality. The beds are big and so comfortable, we slept like babies. The breakfast is very nice, and you can have a delicious dinner on request for extra charge. We definitely recommend this place and so hope to come back here again.

Amazing location that caused our jaws to drop on arrival . Fabulous & attentive owners who looked after our every need. The interior of the chateau was as stunning as the exterior. The subterranean pool & spa was a complete surprise. Our experience at La Valette was truly magical and far exceeded our expectations. Our one night stay was intended to be a once in a lifetime treat but we will definitely return to this dream of a chateau!

Truly, there was nothing we didn't like!

The Chateau de Valette is a beautiful estate in the Dordogne countryside with lots of surprises, affectionate pets, natural beauty and wildlife. The warm and friendly owners, Christine and Richard, provided us with the relaxing week our family needed, and offered lots of recommendations for things to do and places to eat in the area. The chateau is a comfortable, welcoming space and the breakfast room is open all day for snacks. Fresh produce from the chateau gardens are available in the breakfast room, as well as a variety of teas developed just for the chateau. The rooms are beautiful and beds are very comfortable. Simply a lovely place to call home for a while.

The wifi was a little slow, but that didn't really affect our stay.

I have seen a lot of "chambre d'hôtes", but Christine's place is exceptional (and so is she). You can spend hours discovering all the treasures she gathered in this chateau. And when you think you are done, you see that there is a pool in the former cellar... There is nothing I can say that would make you understand how well we felt at Chateau de Valette during a rainy week-end.

Everything was perfect.

I hardly ever give a 10 but this place deserves it. Christine & Richard are excellent hosts. They made us feel very at home. Christine prepared a delicious 3-course dinner & accompanied by a superb wine suggested by Richard. The room was very comfortable & the whole area so quiet & peaceful. We had a nice walk up & down the hill before a dip in the pool. The only negative bit is that our journey didn’t allow us to spend more than one night at this beautiful place

We have been coming to this part of the Dordogne (Perigord Noir) for over 20 years and know the area quite well but we were still completely blown away by this magnificent location. The beautiful chateau is located in it’s own little valley and feels completely secluded from the rest of the world. As you look into the distance form the terrace there is literally nothing to see but nature: no buildings, no lights, no people, just a lovely pond, trees and hills. All you hear is the sound of forest animals. Added to that are the most welcoming and hospitable hosts we have ever come across. Because of our wedding anniversary they decided to upgrade us to the best room available, the breakfast was incredible and both Richard and (especially) Christine went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. Check my earlier reports: I never give a 10. I wholeheartedly did this time. Highly, highly recommended.

The only problem is that while being in one of the most beautiful areas in the world you will feel reluctant to go out and explore and instead will want to stay right where you are.

What amazing hospitality. From the delightful crystal decanter of Sherry waiting us for us in the room when we arrived, to the geniality of the hosts. Nothing was too much trouble, the food was excellent, the spa facilities are gorgeous and the host Robert even helped ease my trapped nerve with his magical hands.
