La Porte Rouge has become a must stop for us whenever we drive from the UK to Spain. It feels like stopping at a relative’s place. We always feel at home and love they remember even the tiny details (such as the type of milk we prefer!) which really makes a huge difference. The place is absolutely gorgeous. They have done a great job renovating it whilst keeping its essence. Beds are comfortable, bathrooms are a luxury, and we feel recharged and ready to hit the road again the following morning. Our puppy Kala loves visiting her Saintes family too (specially her friend Motta! 🐾) We absolutely recommend La Porte Rouge ☺️

Its a family mansion, with a lot of antique and beautiful things. Each of family member have a stories to tell.

The only thing I can imagine is the lack of air conditioner in summer. But its an antique building, in the center of the city. Existence of white metal box on this building will be even worse than absence of it. But its a point to consider.

I like how natural this property was. It is actually a home with rooms like a hotel. The owners are delightful and the food homemade. The rooms are very comfortable.

I loved this stay but the stairs are narrow and the rooms are warm on a hot night. The downstairs is rustic but there is real charm and I loved it’s authentic nature.

This is a 16th century home, right in centre of Saintes. If you like modern plastic perfection, don't go here, if you love history, quirkiness and lovely hosts, this is perfect.

This was perfect place to stay, nothing to dislike

This is a magical place right in the centre of the old town, with beautiful views from the rooms. It is full of character, furnished with lovely vintage finds, and the owners are a delight. A simple and delicious breakfast was served in the wonderful garden. If you are looking for a trouser press, a minibar and Sky TV, this is not your sort of place - and all the better for it!

The la porte rouge was everything what you expect from france. It was nice and oldschool and just really really nice, cute and authentic. The host is just wonderful there is nothing more to say. ☺️we really enjoyed our night here!

Very Authentic nice and clean room. Nice and friendly family. Just in the center of one France 🇫🇷 oldest cities.

Friendly hosts who were very helpful and informative. Use of washer, dryer and drying rack. Location was very good - close to city centre. Availability of parking.

If you want a place where you feel valued as a client, stay here. Great conversations, helpful tips, really nice accommodation, and delicious breakfast in the back garden.
