Very lovely small hotel with very charming rooms and a lovely host! The WIFI is awesome and stable, which was much appreciated. We didn't get any breakfast, because we were the only guests in the whole house at the time, but the host made me a big pot of coffee and brought it up to the room to breath some life into me for early morning work. There is a small fridge with beverages and some snacks available for purchase in the basement, which was helpful. The host also has a binder that has a wealth of information in it from local businesses, important phone numbers, attractions and much more, which is also very helpful for the average visitor. Charming experience - we will definitely be back!
The hotel is on the very edge of town, so nothing of interest within walking distance, so a car is recommended. Wasn't an issue for us, but it may be for others. The fact that we didn't get any breakfast due to low bookings in the house wasn't the biggest deal for us, but if you travel with small kids or depend on a breakfast for yourself, you might want to inquire shortly before you arrive and/or come prepared.

*Katia the hostess was so welcoming and friendly. 5 star service! She really went out of your way to make you feel at home and accommodate your every need from food requests at breakfast to helping make the most of your time there in Obergammerau by listing places of interest, and suggesting route itineraries even. And all this even on Christmas Day/Boxing Day. *We were able to pick the room we wanted by using the virtual 3D walkthrough on the main website. This was accommodated with ease by communicating via their contact form on the website. *Room is super warm. I was worried it would not be warm enough but it was perfect, esp with underwater heating. *Free shampoo/conditioner/soap all in one in the shower. *Breakfast was lovely. Continental, eggs bacon, freshly baked breads, cereal, milk, fruits, cheese and meats, croissants, Jams, biscuits- Katia will even make cappuccinos or lattes for you and went out of her way to remember what you liked personally each morning. *Balcony view is so pretty. *Mini fridge in room. *Bed was lovely and big. Super comfy.
*The noise between rooms carried. But cannot be helped. *Struggled a little with the shower. There were hot and cold water taps above the toilet near the shower. The shower was tepid for around 5 mins and when you turned the hot water tap is seemed to influence the shower temperature. Unsure if this was how it worked or if it just needed time to warm up as there was another temperature handle in the shower like usual. This is just me and my partner being silly most likely from the UK. But we did find that a little difficult. When it was hot though it was wonderful. Overall I would say 10/10. Fabulous place to stay and highly recommend.

I have never been so nicely treated by a hotel manager as with Katia in Landhotel Lärchenhügel. We were offered to switch from 2 rooms to a family room, and got a nice discount. We had rented a car with Hertz at Munich airport, and at the day of departure we found that the car was leaking oil inside the motor!! The Hertz support line was not very good, and in the end we had to leave the car at the hotel to be towed! Katia was not only understanding of this, she also crawled under the car to look, and spent a long time on the phone speaking German with the support line, and in the end arranged our transportation to Munich airport to change cars! This was really outstanding!! The hotel is a 20-30 minute walk from the Passion play village in the centre of Oberammergau village. There is a free shuttle bus that has a stop about halfway into town. It is beautifully located with a view over mountains and the village. Just going down to the meadows below the hotel in sunset was an experience! There was also an Italian restaurant in the bottom floor that would have been nice to try if we had had time.

This is a typical and traditional Bavarian Hotel, we had a very comfortable en-suite room with a table and chairs as well as a balcony. There is also a very nice restaurant downstairs in the Hotel for breakfast, serving excellent Italian food in the evening. The thing that makes this Hotel special is Katja, who is just wonderful. We had severe travel problems due to Easyjet cancelling our flight from UK. Katja helped us so much, and rescued our holiday, she looks after all the guests so well, making sure they have everything that they need.
Would liked to stay longer!

We had a nice spacious room with our own balcony, private bathroom and small booth (table and chairs). The hotel is located about 20-25 minutes (an easy walk) from the city centre. Katya, the receptionist, and the rest of the staff are exceptional. They are all warm and friendly and Katya provides excellent tips about the local scenery and attractions. The breakfast was good and we had a lovely (and large!) lunch/dinner at the restaurant.

A good distance from the main part of town, but a lovely gently uphill walk of 20minutes. A great team and was so helpful during the Passion Play to help get other places in time (lifts and bus timetables) and supply cushions to sit on. Wouldn’t have been such a good experience without this team.
Wi-Fi seemed to not work throughout the building.

Katje was very welcoming and an excellent host. The hotel was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was incredible.
There is some street noise at night as cars speed down the road next to the hotel. The shower is very small, but serviceable.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Katja’s place. She is amazing! So friendly and helpful. The hotel is super clean and has everything you could need. We ate at the restaurant our first night; the food was delicious and the service was great. It’s an easy walk into Oberammergau. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip!
Nothing could have made our stay any better!

Family type hotel; very cozy. Katja went above and beyond to help me with transportation to and from the train station. And also made sure I could have breakfast earlier than usual, so I could have something to eat before my early departure from the hotel.
