The breakfast, the staff, the location were all excellent. We travelled with our dog and the dog was very welcome. The Volkspark, actually the back yard of the hotel, was a perfect place to walk the dog. The room was spacious, internet was ok and the room was very quiet.

this is a personal thing. The beds were too hard for our liking. Some people like a firm bed, we do not. Also the extra cost for having the dog in our room was a bit high in comparison with other hotels that we visited.

The Burg is absolutely beautiful, there are many nice buildings, a lot of lawns where you can test, flowers to enjoy. It is a quite place - there were 3 weddings during our stay, but we were not disturbed by them.. BUT

: The staff barely speaks English. So it is very difficult to communicate and solve problems that occur. If you want to eat you have to arrange the plates and cutlery by yourself - we waited more then 15 minutes at the table and no one came to take care of us and the other guests. The staff although is nice (especially the waitress) once you catch 😉 them. The "white house" in which we stayed smells of cat (?) urine. The curtains are useless - the sun will wake you up at 5 am. The carpet is stained The room need some renovation. We stayed 2 nights – no one showed to clean the room. No air conditioning (in the white house). No refrigerators The check out is at 10 am – too early for a 4 star hotel where breakfast starts at 8 am The reception closes at 15 pm. Conclusion: it has a huge potential. It would be a real gem if someone took greater care and hired more people. I saw the stuff struggle to manage all the guests (especially during the weddings which apparently are quite popular there)

Compound looks beautiful, great spot if your room is also on the compound of the castle..

My god where to start with this place... On the pictures (and that is what most people judge a location and room booking on) you look at an iddilic ancient spot, thinking you book a room exactly at this location. On our arrival we felt at the desk that the owners might have overbooked the rooms via booking.com... Check in wasn't smooth and felt chaotic and not so hospitable. Eventually some manager came and didn't even greet us, she booked us in and we were then again taken by someone else outside of the compound?? Crossed a busy street, walked 5 minutes and went into an urban area to de guided to a totally different apartment complex. (their argument was that we should have seen or read it properly). On booking.com it looks as if you book a room on the compound at the castle, in fact it was an apartment complex in between of social rental housing.. When overbook this could be their escape solution.. We were quite disappointed, they were very aware of this trick happening more often, images are misleading and they play a very ignorant role at the desk when you say something bout this. We felt it was a swindle. The apartment complex is proper, clean and ok.. but if you have no facilities around.. why not bring in a minibar? a water boiler?? there is nothing. Not even a seat back on the private terrace (which is not even finished, piles of tiles and bricks everywhere).. How idillic.. We payed the same amount of money for this spot.. We had a diner, for this we needed to walk to the castle resto site, diner was good value for the buck but fairly overpriced, staff was a nightmare, a Thai woman didn't even speak English or German.. None. She lived here for 3 year she said.. To top up our experience... my girlfriend was still eating, we were the only people btw.. and a waitress took away her plate while still eating (EAST GERMAN gründlichkeit ????).. the staff has had absolutely no training whatsoever on basic rules of horeca...

The castle area was nice and the breakfast was good. The room was clean.

We came on a sunday, got the pink room. The room was large with a bed, a closet, a divan, an extra bed and a 32 inch? Tv. The bathroom was large, but seemed quite dated, as proven by the discoloration of the tile joints. The pink walls were colored with blank paint, adding to the dated look. Even though this is supposed to be an old castle, the rooms could do with a makeover. The property and breakfast has the air and quality of a four star hotel, but sadly the room quality left us with a three star feeling. As the restaurant was closed on a sunday we sadly did not get to enjoy the nice outdoor eating area, which seemed to have a very nice atmosphere. Another minus was the parking fee and extra bed fee (which we had pre-ordered);this should have been included in the room price, and just added to the less-than four star rating.
