Clean facilities, great location, good breakfast, friendly staff.

The building is a little old and so noise can be an issue, depending on the room you are allocated. The floors of room above (our ceiling) creaked a lot, which meant that we were kept awake by the person staying in the room above walking around at night. A rug in the upstairs rooms might help absorb the noise! Otherwise, we had a comfortable stay and enjoyed our time in Rhodes :-)

This was a great hotel for our three days in Rhodes Town. The owner came to meet us from the transfer with a trolley for the luggage (you'll need it, you can't get dropped at the front door) quite late at night. The courtyard has a little plunge pool, which is great for cooling off. The hotel has been renovated with lots of nods to its past. Daily bottles of water in the room were very welcome. It was our honeymoon and they welcomed us with surprise wine and fresh fruit in the room - really nice of them.

Maybe a very British comment, but I expect tea and coffee-making facilities in the room at this price point.

First off we stayed in the "Pasha Suite" room and it was such a beautiful and comfortable room. The highlight of this room is the huge fully functional sauna/steam room! How amazing is it to have a PRIVATE steam room in your own hotel room and it was designed to look exactly like a classic steam room from a long time ago. The bed was incredibly comfortable and a king size! It had a large couch/bed in the living room area and the bath tub is HUGE. You could easily fit three grown adults sitting in it. Our host was incredible helpful, nice, accommodating and made some great recommendations for places to eat. We went during the off season and there was barely anyone in Rhodes (how we like it) and only one other couple in the hotel while we were there. Breakfast was made fresh to order each morning with delicious fresh squeezed orange juice. The garden area where you eat breakfast each morning was like a little oasis! We were right in the middle of Rhodes Old Town so we did have to park just outside the gate (tons of free parking just outside the gates) and walk about 5-7min to the hotel but it felt like nothing as you were transported back in time surrounded by castle walls and medieval streets. Our host helped us bring everything in when we arrive which was amazing and did the same when we left. He gave us great instructions on where to park as well.

We liked everything.

The entire Hotel is very charming. Breakfast (A la Carte) was served in a lovely Courtyard that was beautiful & breezy (a welcome relief from heat). The food was delicious & entire staff was amazingly friendly and helpful. Elena had great suggestions for where to go for sightseeing, beaches & food. She also helped us with booking rental car & airport transfers. We loved being in the Medieval City, and being able to walk to nearby historical sites, shops & restaurants, as well as Mandraki harbor in Neochori just outside the Liberty Gate. There are a number of Pedestrian Gates a short walk from the Hotel, depending on where you want to go outside the city walls.

We did have a bit of and issue with AC, but they fixed it the same day. Also, with no elevator, accessibility might be an issue for some: all rooms are on 1st Floor, not ground floor and rise of steps is higher than normal, so harder to climb for shorter or older people. The location can be a bit tricky (especially for the "navigationally challenged") until you learn how to navigate all the winding alleys, and it is not accessible by car so be sure to communicate with Elena or Duncan to be sure someone can meet you at the gate with a cart when you arrive. The stone paved alleys are neither roller bag or heel friendly. However, most of these things are to be expected in a Medieval city and not a reflection on the hotel itself.

There is everything to like about the Spirit of the Knights. Perfect location, spotlessly clean, most congenial hosts who attended to all our needs. The place is just gorgeous, you are in a piece of living history with all the mod cons and so painstakingly and lovingly restored. There is an attention to detail everywhere you look, whether in the furnishings, design and decoration, the stately library, the tranquil garden, but also in the lovely breakfast, which was sumptuous. Duncan is a delightful and endearing man who could not do enough to assist us. Elena was the perfect hostess, who always went over and above. It was hard to leave and we will miss them both.

This is a charming place to stay, located in a quet part of the old city with friendly helpful staff who gave us great recommendations about places to eat, and also what to do over the Orthodox Easter days. Extra thanks to Lena and Duncan for their help and suggestions! The hotel is actually a 500 year old building that was renovated over many years in consultation with the archaelogical authorities in Greece, and has preserved many of its beautiful original features, such as the stonework and the gorgeous Ottoman era feature which is now the library area. There are new modern features but done in ways that complement the medieval features of the building. The room we had was spacious, with a separate bathroom and sitting area to the bedroom, all of which were kept very clean each day. There was a TV and wifi in there too. The furniture is also really tastefully chosen, much of it is antique wood. The garden is also a peaceful place to sit, and very nicely designed with the arrangement of plants around a very old big tree that will provide some shade on the hotter days. I was there in the spring and it was a bit chilly most days so only used the garden on the one sunny day! The breakfast is very tasty and freshly made each day with ripe fruits and yoghurt, fresh bread jams and honey on the menu as well as cooked breakfast options. It always left us happy and well fed for the day's adventures. I really recommend staying here if you want something a bit special and uniquely in tune with the medieval history of the city. The location is great, close to the heart of the old town but not on a noisy street, off a quiet side street (see photo). Tip: let them know in advance when you will arrive as only residents' cars can enter the old city without advanced permission. Transfers can be arranged with their help but give them a bit of time to arrange the permit for the driver. Enjoy your time there!

We loved staying at this hotel. It’s a beautiful sanctuary in a quiet spot of the Old Town. Close enough to walk to an array of brilliant restaurants, shops, bars and the castle, which we visited and it was well worth it. Stunning mosaics! The breakfast is lovely too with a great choice of freshly made options. The hotel owner Duncan made us feel very welcome and I was blown away by the way his family lovingly restored ancient ruins to create this little haven of a hotel. It had so much character and a beautiful well-cared for garden, it’s a truly heavenly place to be.

Nothing could have been better.

As we had stayed here before we knew what to expect and weren't disappointed this time. Wonderful welcome, helpful information. Organised transfers to and from airport and port when we went there. Helped with our luggage. Wonderful garden oasis when we returned from our days out. Suite very comfortable and beautifully decorated. Delicious breakfasts in the garden. All what you would hope for in a small boutique hotel.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this atmospheric cosy little hotel in the heart of the Old Town. We particularly liked the outdoor breakfast/lounge area with a small pool. The stuff was very friendly and accommodating to our dietary needs.

There was no fridge in the room but we were told by the owner that it will be installed soon. Also it would be nice to have a shower curtain.

Location was perfect for us, In the middle of the old town close enough to everything but tucked away enough that it was very quiet and peaceful. Breakfast was great and Elena and Duncan were really friendly, approachable and helpful. The plunge pool/jacuzzi was great to cool off after a day in the sun exploring.
