We spent a great week on our family (2+2) vacation in Zakhyntos. The Hotel Varres was absolutely a good choice for our stay due to its location, the surrounding quite environment, very helpful and kind hotel staff. We spent a great 7 nights at here. Breakfast had a lots of variety and was delicious.

We had a family room (2+2x1 bed rooms) which was great. Only the bathroom with toilet was very small, especially the sink and the tub since the room hasn't got a shower just a tub. But as a plus there is a shower at the pool side even the pool area. You can not drink water from the pipe / tube so you need to buy every day a drinking water. There would be a plus if the hotel had given a bottle (maybe 2) bottle of water every day as a complementary. Or do place a water machine where guest can fill in their bottles for free. This would be also another element for environment protection instead of lots of plastic bottles without selective trash collection.

Very nice and peaceful accommodation in the hills northwest of Zakynthos Town. Hotel Varres is ideal for couples that want to enjoy the restaurants, shops and interesting sites of Zakynthos Town, but prefer to relax and sleep in a more tranquil environment. The hotel is situated on a large hilly property covered with olive trees. The hotel anbd the surrounding property are very well maintained and clean. Hotel rooms are quite large and they are cleaned every day. The breakfast buffet offers a good choices of hot and cold dishes. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. They even organized a take-out breakfast for us on a day when we had to leave early for a daytrip. Hotel Varres fulfilled all our expectations, and on some points even exceeded them.

Very little negative to say. The slightly more secluded location of Hotel Varres adds to the peacefulness and tranquility, but may be a problem for hotel guests without a car. The walking distance to Zakynthos Town is approx. 20 min, but the walk can be quite perilous due to the high traffic density and the (partial) absence of pedestrian sidewalks. Wouldn't recommend walking after dark.

The location, the room price, the green lands around the hotel, the pool bar and the pool, the cats from breakfast :) the room was very clean and the balcony looking over the pool was great

The breakfast. It really was not tasty and it was exactly the same every single day, absolutely no change. At the last days we really felt like not going to breakfast anymore even though it was included in the price… so the breakfst really should be improved

There are 2 buildings for the same hotel, one who is newer as far as we understoond, but you can’t really notice any difference between as of which one is newer and which one is not. There is one which is right by the pool, and the other one who has a garden view and that is where you eat the breakfast. The room from the one we stayed in (the one by the pool) was way more spacious than the one where you eat the breakfast in (which is suppose to be newer). The bathroom had some space in it, the room was spacious and the balcony pretty ok( example: we stayed 4 people at the table on the balcony). The rooms from the other building (where you eat breakfast) were smaller and did not have a lot of space in the bathroom. For example, a 2m(height) person doesn’t have that much space. Other than that, they clean the room everyday, change the sheets and towels, and the personnel is very nice to you. The receptionists speak very well English so you won’t have a problem understanding them. Overall, the hotel is nice, pretty and I definitely recommend it

More variety for breakfast. They changed one thing every day, but the rest were pretty ok. Nonetheless, the breakfast is good, you can choose what to eat, however the coffee was very different (but that I guess is because Greek coffee in general is a bit different than the rest of the countries)

The food was amazing, they had several gluten free options for breakfast and dinner. For breakfast you could find a whole gluten-free breakfast platter with cereals, bread and cookies. The breakfast was extremely good. Also, for lunch there was gluten-free pasta and other options. Everything was well priced and delicious. The room was spacious and clean. The pool was lovely, and always a place in or out the sun.

Everything was amazing.

Great food and wine. Staff friendly and helpful. Bar man exceptional as managed to run bar, take and deliver food orders and still manage some friendly chat with customers. Excellent cleaning with fresh towels every day from our lovely cleaning lady.

Location is beautiful however we walk a lot so it was a bit difficult on some sections of road without walkway. We managed Zante town twice though but had to be careful.

The hotel's location is excellent, quiet and convenient, with lots of greenery around it. Parking your vehicle is very easy. The staff is very polite and helpful. The room was modern, spacious and had a great view from its' balcony. The bathroom was spotless and fully equipped. The pool area and the pool itself are very clean and well-maintained. The breakfast was served in a beautiful and spacious room, it had a lot of choices and every day something new was added. Overall, we were completely satisfied with the hotel, we highly recommend it and would definitely choose it again for our next trip to Zakynthos.

A great location - quiet but not too far from the town centre. Good breakfast and friendly staff willing to help out with questions and queries. Shuttle van was a great service if you wanted it to take you to town for shopping etc.

In the foyer/reception area, there was minimal amount of brochures advertising tour/cruises around Zakynthos.

We got a very nice and big room in front of the pool. The shuttle service is very helpfull as well. And the stuff is friendly and helpfull.

Unfortunately the only thing that we didn’ t like was the service at the restaurant. Especially the lady. We thought she had a language barrier, but she speaks very good english but she was not customer friendly and sometimes rude to us.

-We booked the Mountain View room with breakfast included. -Breakfast was fresh and various. The restaurant has a terrace with a beautiful view. -We ate dinner at the hotel terrace by the pool, food was very tasty and the prices are better than the prices at the restaurants in town. -Staff was always welcoming and willing to help. -The room was very clean and it got cleaned every day (not just new towels and empty trash), even our pijamas were folded. -We received new toiletries every day. -A company that does boat tours around the island picks you up and brings you back to the hotel (MyTours). We recommend this hotel!

We enjoyed everything except: -There is no mosquito net at the balcony door, we had to kill some so we could sleep. -There is just one free wall outlet in the room. -The main light in the room has to warm up before it works properly. -There are no glasses in the room. -40 minutes walk to the city; renting a car is recommended.
