Loved this hotel! Free breakfast was fantastic with pancakes, waffles, toast, eggs, bacon, meats, cheeses, cereal. Multiple areas outside of the room to relax or just have a change of scenery, complete with games. There is a glass room that is nice to look for northern lights while staying warm, or just enjoying a rainy day. Room was spacious and clean. I didn't go in the hot tub but the sauna was perfect! Also easy access to the outdoors for checking on northern lights. Staff was all super nice!! Later in my trip, wished I could've swapped another hotel to come back. It's a few minute drive from the main town so it feels remote, but accessible when needed.

We stayed only for a few hours before leaving for our flight at 2am at KEF. But the short stay was indeed wonderful. The room was huge and ample space for us to take a few winks and rearrange our bags for our flight. When we mentioned this to the gentleman at the reception; he was so helpful in leaving us a big bag of food for our flight. Unfortunately we could not take the large offering of fruit, we did grab the cookies! There was juice and coffee in the lobby/eating area. The place has a hot tub which unfortunately we did not have time to enjoy. Given the price we paid for this stay, the amenities were far more and were wonderful.

None to report! We should have known about this place better - would have surely booked it for our Golden Circle tour.

Staff very polite and informative; the rooms are all on the ground floor; the spa area outside was lush and we always had it to ourselves. The 24/7 use of coffee/tea/juice/water machine in the lobby is great. Plus a lovely conservatory you can take your drinks to. There was always cookies and cakes left out for people to help themselves. I loved the reception area, there was 3-4 separate 'rooms' with TVs, sofas, blankets, cushions etc so you felt like home most of the time. The hotel is less than an hour away from Reykjavik; less than an hour from the start of the Golden circle and loads of horses around it to enjoy!

I wouldn't say that the rooms are very soundproof because we could hear people coming and going especially locking/unlocking their door made quite a noise. That was only an issue on our first night though. I think we had noisy neighbors. The rest of our stay people were much more respectful of others around them.

The location was very central to the Golden Circle and South Coast without needing to drive all the way back to Reykjavik. However, it's not walkable to anything so a car is a must to get to dinner, etc. Breakfast was fairly standard for Scandinavia but good. Room was comfortable, bathroom was functional, curtains were good for summer sun.

We were so busy that we didn't get a chance to enjoy the hot tub and sauna while we were there. Maybe next time. The walls are a bit thin and you can hear adjacent room doors opening and closing.

The Hotel Kvika is 'a real find'. So many lovely touches -- for example complimentary coffee, cakes and biscuits at any time -- including a regular 'top up' of cakes: when 'the Brits' have 'pillaged' the last one! The accommodation was first rate and included use of a hot tube and sauna. BUT the secret ingredient is the staff. Without exception all wonderful. Clearly helping each other and creating an obvious positive team -- it was clear that they all really wanted their visitors to have an enjoyable and memorable stay. Their positive team approached filters through to the whole operation of the Hotel

Absolutely nothing. This really is a good hotel

Exceptional hotel! Fantastic comfy rooms, hot tub and sauna and a fantastic breakfast. The waffle maker in the morning I loved and was such a nice touch! We felt so welcomed in the hotel and especially with our children. The drinks that were available all day and the snacks were a great addition especially with children! The staff were second to none and a special mention to Peter who was a fountain of knowledge, exceptionally welcoming, polite and a pleasure! The hotel is well situated to visit a lot of points of interest and in the. Centre of everything. The local town had great little places to eat and we always loved the Bonus supermarket to take items back. Thank you for an amazing stay!

We loved everything

I booked this hotel because it’s away from the lights of the city and would give us the best chance of seeing the Northern Lights, it is easily reached, close to a town, some nice hikes and hot springs, it’s only about half hour drive from Reykjavík. The breakfast selection was good and had something pretty much anyone would be able to start their day with

They don’t serve food other than breakfast (we knew this when we booked but there was heavy snowfall during our stay and we had to travel for food even if we’d rather not leave the hotel), being really picky (and a personal preference) we found the pillows a little too soft

EVERYTHING! Check in until 10pm. Was given the keys, room was warm and very comfortable, just sink into the bed! There was hot drinks 24/7 which was a very nice touch. We saw a little green dot of the Auroras and it was very cold so was nice to come back in and have a hot chocolate. There is a hot tub (x2) and sauna out the back was in use when we arrived but soon after was empty so just us under the starts in -4 was very nice. It’s off the beaten track away from the city but only 20 minutes from Selfoss so well worth it. Breakfast was very good as well!! Would recommend and would stay here if returning to this part of Iceland. Thanks so much!!!

Nothing at all!!

- Big spacious property with decent parking, scenic area, lots of floor space in dining area - Location, close to Selfoss and Reykjavík, gives that in the middle of nowhere feeling. Decent for northern lights - Decent floor space in room - Hot tub and sauna (we didn’t try the sauna) - Decent breakfast (coffee from machine, apple / orange juice, waffles with pancake syrup / nutella, toast, pancakes, yoghurt / cereal options, melon? Orange, banana, red pepper, tomato, cucumber, cheeses, meat slices, bacon, beans, scrambled egg with biscuits / cakes left for post breakfast snacks - - Unlimited coffee from machine. - Conservatory and lounge areas with tv available - Chilled out friendly staff with reception open late

- Check-out time of 10am. Usually check out is an hour after breakfast closes, this is at the same time! And the earliest check-out time we had on our trip. - Corridor carpet looks dirty like it needs a wash? - Rooms are a little basic. Bathroom extremely outdated - All day biscuits / cakes can be stale from the day before - Breakfast Apple juice from machine almost takes like diluted apple cider - Hot tub temp felt hotter than stated (Not the property but the mountain behind can obscure part of the northern lights show) But despite all of this will come back again. Peaceful place which may be basic but has all of the necessary extras.

-Staff were friendly. -The room was comfortable. -A decent array of food for breakfast. -Location was good. -Loved the touch of Iceland's sightseeing hotspots on the room numbers/keys. -Good value.

-Solid ice on the entrance steps and ramp was extremely dangerous. -Could hear other guests as they walked down the hallway to their rooms. -Shower took forever to heat up in the morning. -Breakfast juice, hot chocolate, and "chocolate milk" was water with a splash of flavor. Could not drink the hot chocolate/chocolate milk. -No hairdryer in the room. Had to ask for it at the front desk.
