Very nice hotel where everything worked: good service, lovely and clean room, comfortable bed and good exchange rate (don’t change at the airport!). Cubicle shower with enough strength and hot water, and all the toiletries you need. We only had breakfast once and it was ok, but much better than the food was the view from the rooftop! It was great to start our day walking by the Gateway of India and the Taj Palace, and there were many places to eat or drink close by. Just beware of the shared building, the sign for Strand Hotel is much bigger and it took us a minute to see the small sign for Harbour View. All in all, very good value for money!

There was a small problem with hot water one morning, but they quickly sorted it out. The bathroom towels were worn out.

Excellent location with great views

I didn't expect much based on the photos of the exterior, but the rooms are actually lovely, spacious and well-renovated. Staff were kind and helpful and the rooftop terrace with views over the harbour is beautiful. Great location just down from the Gateway of India.

This is a lovely little gem, located just off to one side of the bustling tourist and shopping area. The walk to the tourist areas felt safe and was short. The quiet away from the bustke was much appreciated. The staff were incredibly helpful and welcoming, and helped make our stay memorable. They could not have been more helpful. The hotel is located in the top half of the building (with a different hotel located below). The roof top restaurant is wonderful both day and night and has a lovely buzzing vibe as it appears popular with locals as well. Are rooms were spacious and well presented. This was our first visit to India and this hotel offered a lovely introduction to the warmth of this country.

Rather than a dislike, just an observation that the pier opposite the hotel into the harbour appears to be a venue for large celebrations, we were excited to see a wedding happening during our stay, and enjoyed the buzz from it. Though be warned that the sounds here travel and if the celebrations go on into the night you may need to have earplugs at the ready, especially if you are a light sleeper :)

What a pleasant surprise! Location, location, location! In Colaba, a 5 minute walk to the Gateway of India, a 5 minute walk to Colaba Street. A better location in Colaba will be difficult to beat. The facilities. The room was beautiful, cool, crisp and clean. The bathroom although small was beautiful, modern and clean and more than adequate. The staff, friendly, helpful and kind. The rooftop restaurant - with the exceptional views and delicious food and fantastic service.

We loved our stay and this will be our go to hotel for stays on future visits to Mumbai. Wished this hotel had a pool but it is not possible and it does not take away from the wonderful place that Hotel Harbour View Hotel is.

The location of the property is perfect for enjoying Colaba, it is on the same road as the Taj Mahal palace and just 500m away from the gateway of India. The hotel room was very clean and spacious and the staff were very helpful with any requests we had. The restaurant and bar on the 4th floor is really nice and serves a good variety of breakfast and drinks.

The harbour view hotel is on the 3rd floor of the strand hotel which when we first arrived I wasn’t aware of. It shares the entrance, elevator and stairwell which are not in the best condition. Don’t be put off by these as when you reach the 3rd floor the hotel is absolutely perfect. We couldn’t check in on time as it was a Sunday which meant after travelling from the uk we had to leave our bags and go into Mumbai.

It was well-maintained and clean, a very comfortable room. The staff was helpful and friendly. The housekeeping was very good. The bathroom was spacious. The rooftop bar and restaurant had great food, but there are also plenty of dining options in the near vicinity. It’s within easy walking distance of a lot of shops and important sites, especially if you don’t mind walking up to 25 minutes (but in 10 you’re near lots). The area is lovely, especially when you get on the back streets. It’s a calming place after the general hubbub of busy Mumbai.

The breakfast service was spotty. We didn’t realize at first that you could order things on the QR menu, besides having what was laid out. Once we got that down, it was better. Also, when there’s a lot going on at reception, the sound travels into the room, but not obnoxiously.

Location excellent. Room very clean, the hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. Indian cuisine breakfasts. Easy to arrange taxi or excursion at the hotel. I recommend a morning walk, the Gate of India still closed but the view is great, the streets empty but you can already have wonderful masala tea.

Not enough space for things in one small wardrobe. The waiters do not really like people drinking alcohol or smoking cigarettes, which is allowed in the rooftop restaurant. They make this clear, which was not comfortable. Therefore, the next evening we went to the rooftop restaurant to the hotel right next door, and the restaurant there was very nice. There, there were no such situations.

The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. Excellent bathrooms. There is a safe and a small fridge. The rooftops restaurant is a definite plus. The sea facing rooms have a wonderful view, but this does come at an extra cost. Be aware that being at the front means street noise. We used the hotel's airport pick up service. The driver was waiting with a large comfortable vehicle.

You are immediately presented with a bill for your stay and required to pay up front on arrival. Needed to request top up of tea, coffee and toilet rolls. Didn't necessarily get them. Seems petty, but in such a well run hotel, why have guests asking for a toilet roll? Breakfast is charged as an extra. I broke a coffee mug and it was added to my bill, plus taxes.

The staff are exceptionally friendly and accommodating. The hotel was very central to all the sites we wanted to see, and within walking distance to a train station. The staff were very helpful with our early check-in, assisting with an airport pickup. And early check-out, where they couldn’t assist us with an airport shuttle, but they assisted us with getting a taxi/Uber very early in the morning. All in all, a very comfortable stay.
