Alam Indah translates in English to 'beautiful Forest ' and that's exactly what this boutique hotel is, hidden down a sweeping driveway watched over by small monkey troupes when you drive in. Friendly courteous staff met us when we pulled up , carrying our bags up the steps to reception. Lush balinese gardens throughout the property amazing to watch gekos, blue black butterfly's flitting above, water lillies opening and closing when the sun goes down. No need to pay to visit the monkey Forest , you can see them all from your bedroom windows and they'll come and watch you back, the pool was magnificent. If tranquillity, calm and peaceful is what you need this is the perfect place to find it. Can't wait to go back.

Wellness spa is not on site as indicated in facilities. . These services are brokered out to the Alam Wangi spa back up on the street. Not a problem though, short easy walk

Beautiful place set within a lovely garden and trees all around. The staff were lovely and the breakfast was good. We thought the rustic cottages with semi-open bathroom may be a haven for mosquitos, but they were surprisingly very minimal. We didn't see monkeys in the site (but could hear them in the nearby forest).

The location is good and bad at the same time; it's away from the main area if Ubud so away from congestion, but to get to town you either have to take the shuttle and this was either unavailable as stuck in Ubud traffic, or if available took ages due to traffic. There is a much quicker option of walking through the nearby monkey forest, but during the day this is really running the gauntlet as monkeys are everywhere. Perhaps the team could do motorbike shuttles / we just used Grab bikes.

This place is like heaven 😍 it's right next to the monkey forest and the view from the veranda is so beautiful and peaceful. It says its a 2 star but this should be much more than that. The buildings are very traditional looking. The pool is really tranquil and a lovely temperature. The staff are the most friendliest people I have met. It's about a 15 minute walk into ubud, which is nice to get a break from all the hustle. The food is really nice, breakfast is included and you can have it on your veranda which is nice. We stayed 4 nights I wish I could have stayed longer.

Nothing, it was perfect

The location was magical, surrounded by lush vegetation, it was a retreat away from the busyness that is Ubud or most of the cities in Bali. The staff were all very nice, helpful, relaxed. The whole property made you feel relaxed. The accommodations were superior. We had our own building, two story, lots of space and very comfortable. You felt very separate from it all…a real getaway. Our “room”, Rambutan, was right across from the Monkey Forest, so we could see them on occasion just from where we were. Breakfast was excellent! They offer lunch and dinner as well. Their sister property, nearby, offers spa treatments like massages. They have a lot of stuff they offer, but we didn’t plan for that in our stay. Good restaurants are within walking distance, and there is also a shuttle available if you want to go further into Ubud. They also have a lovely pool. Wifi was good.

I honestly liked everything, only wish we had planned to be there longer.

The hotel was next to the Monkey Forest, within walking distance to the better vegan cafes and restaurants, but also to the main thorough fare: Monkey Forest street (but one must brave the pedestrian walk that passes through the Monkey Forest, thus the monkeys, and the many motorcycles that share the same path). The view from our bedroom window was the forest. The staff were very friendly, responsive and helpful. The main bed room in the second floor, was tidy, had wooden floor, air condition, ceiling fan, and a terrace. The bathroom was on the ground floor and spacious, well supplied, had running hot/cold water, an open air shower, bathtub, lots of stone carvings. We enjoyed our stay here.

The beautiful architecture, Balinese culture and the gardens were a highlight for us. I felt like this is the most beautiful accommodation in Ubud! Beautiful spacious rooms. Great swimming pool. Quiet, peaceful location right next to the monkey forrest.

The spa & wellness were not open in the evenings which seemed a bit strange though there were several small massage parlors within walking distance where we could go for a Balinese massage at the end of the day.

Beautiful family-run hotel (support Balinese businesses!) in a setting that feels like you’re in the middle of the jungle, even though there are good restaurants 100m away. The staff are SO nice. The rooms are huge and comfortable. Breakfast is good. The hotel also runs a free shuttle to Ubud town (15 min drive). I preferred the location of this hotel to central Ubud town - it is mellow but not inconvenient.

Coffee mugs and an electric kettle in the room would have been a nice addition, as well as full size water glasses. But not a big deal. Black Sheep does great coffee and it is 100 m away.

The staff are excellent and the hotel architecture has great character and culture. The breakfast is good and the afternoon tea with coffee/tea and cakes is a bonus. It is a tranquil place surrounded by the natural forest beauty.

Part of the forest tranquility and charm of the place can also provide some problems. Unfortunately, monkeys entered the pool ate our tennis ball and scared my kids. The proximity to the forest also means that geckos and the like enter the room and crawl on the walls. You may reconsider staying here with young kids.

Where to even start? Our stay at Alam Idah absolutely exceeded our expectations. We knew our stay would be relaxing, peaceful, and cozy due to the location and the nature around, but this hotel is a little jungle paradise. We were welcomed with a fresh fruit cocktail upon arrival by the loveliest staff ever. Our room was spacious and tidy. And the bed? An absolute trap for you to melt in. The pool was stunning, there was a wide variety of breakfast options (all delicious) and the staff was super caring and accommodating. They truly made us feel at home during these three days. As you can tell by reading my review, we had an absolute blast and I can't wait to be in Bali again to visit this place.

Seriously, nothing comes to mind!

First the room was amazing. It was the upper floor of a little 'traditional looking' house. It looked so authentic and was so beautiful. The balcony of my room was equally awesome: super comfy with a large 'sofa' and the view on the garden was beautiful. The property looked amazing with so many plants and trees. The pool was super beautiful too, with view on the monkey forest. The staff was extremely friendly and were always ready to help. Everything was running exceptionally smoothly (breakfast was served quickly, room service was done while we were having breakfast etc..). I had such a relaxing and great stay!

The only thing that was a bit annoying was the lack of a shower curtain in the shower/bath. Water was splashing everywhere during my shower.
