I spent a week in this hotel and used it as a base for historical exploration of Bologna + taking trips to other historical cities in the region. The hotel is just 10min walk to main train station which is good if you want to travel around. The room was very simple, quite small, a bit old-fashioned but enough for sleepovers. Dail room service and clean bathroom. Wifi running ok. Hot water usually but I did not need it in the hot July weather. A/C running fine. Breakfasts were nice, especially the various cakes felt like home-made and varied over time + you get the real espresso for breakfast! I got what I expected and I was happy to be here.

My room was on the top (4th) floor right next to the elevator. When active, I could hear the humming and some annoying clicking noises. Fortunately, the elevator was not used too much during the nights. The hotel was otherwise very silent!

Located on one of the main streets within walking distance to the centre and train station. Lots of eateries around the area. Hotel and the room are nicely decorated in classic Italian style although bathroom was the best part. It was spacious looked spick and span with modern suites. Rooms had a view and double glazed windows kept noise out. Breakfast was good quality continental fare although the breakfast room was a little cramped guess that's ok being in the basement. Staff were helpful and some were more hospitable. Housekeeping team were excellent and helpful when I lost my room pass going down the stairs one morning to breakfast.

Nothing at all to dislike but i was missing having a cup of tea in the room as there was no tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The bar was not manned each time I tried to get a drink in the evening to sit on the terrace. Maybe they were busy elsewhere. A double room should really have a double bed...

Hotel kindly allowed me to my room 3 hours before official check-in time. I was also offered the small water bottles in the minibar. Comfortable double room with all amenities and strong air-con (useful during an Italian summer). Very helpful English-speaking receptionists. Location 10 mins walk from Bologna train station and 10 mins from city centre. Located on the main road leading to the centre with all major shop brands. Great overall experience and very good value-for-money short stay in Bologna.

An iron and ironing board were needed (since travellers may spent a few days in Bologna and nearby cities of Modena/Ravenna).

Perfect location, right in the heart of the city and close to the train station. The hotel itself is very nice in an old building, but well maintained! There are a lot of nice restaurants around the hotel, everything is a easily accessible by walking.

The room had no view... There was a very small inner courtyard that hosts the cooling systems and nothing else. The bathroom was a bit too small.

Location was only short 10 minute walk to main old town square. The hotel has some historical character. Breakfast buffet was well provided with both hot and cold items. Bologna is bustling, assertive, crowded city so we appreciated the breakfast here rather than fending off the crowds at local (very busy) cafes. Quiet places set off from the crowd seem difficult to find in this city. Nice outside lounge in front of the hotel set back a little from the street by a small garden, but offering no food or drinks service that I saw.

Staff were uneven, some fine and helpful but some downright cranky. The room had a clean and mostly updated bathroom but the room carpet was tired and worn, as were some towels, furniture, etc. Could use a freshening up as the hotel has a lovely feel and character of an older property. They have a small indoor bar, but it seems an uninviting afterthought: over-lit, not staffed that I ever saw, and I never saw anyone sitting there, most choosing to lounge outside with no table service. Seems like a wasted opportunity.

I was very impressed with the hotel. The location is excellent, just a short walk from Bologna centrale and the old city center. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the beds are very comfortable. The breakfast buffet is also good. The staff at the hotel are very friendly and helpful. They were always happy to answer my questions and help me with anything I needed. Overall, I had a very positive experience at the Zanhotel Tre Vecchi, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good value hotel in Bologna.

Fantastic location at this lovely hotel for a trip to Bologna. Excellent breakfast and great room. Would definitely return and would recommend to anyone. We found the staff to be more than helpful. Thomas saved the day with my suitcase with a broken lock.

The only downside to mention was early morning collections of glass bottles by city refuse collection. It was every day and at about 7am. Not too troublesome to us as we didn't have late nights.

The hotel is located near the main attractions. We were able to move mostly on foot. There's a taxi stop right in front of the hotel, which was really helpful when going back to the airport. The staff was also always helpful and polite. Breakfast is good, with a number of different options.

The room decoration felt a bit dated. Toilet paper rolls were not replenished, so we had to ask for more.

The location of the hotel was great. We had no bother checking in, as soon as we arrived, even though we were a little earlier than check n time. The room was clean and quiet. Lifts were working.

Breakfast was extremely busy on our first morning. It took ages to get coffee's made, as they only had 1 barrista making coffee, and it was a struggle to get a table. But our 2nd day was a lot quieter and we didn't have any issues with breakfast.
