The Sotto Le Stelle should be listed among the sights of Sicily. The uniqueness of the accommodation and the romantic mountain village are absolutely worth the stay. The positive reviews of past visitors are entirely understandable and justified. It is very clean, stylishly furnished and offers a fantastic view of the coast and the surrounding area. Due to the altitude, the temperature in the room is pleasant even in summer, so you can leave the air conditioning off. The area is very quiet, which allows you to sleep well at night. The host goes to great lengths to ensure the well-being of his guests, using charm and humor to create a pleasant and appreciative atmosphere, including during breakfast, which is served in a rustic Sicilian style with fresh fruit. The family-run restaurant Mates is also worth a visit. We hope to be able to come back in the not too distant future. We had a really lovely and relaxing five days and nights there, during which we explored and got to know parts of the south coast. It also seems absolutely recommendable for longer or shorter stays.

We loved the house and its history. Giuseppe was an amazing host, so thoughtful and kind. It felt as though we were staying with friends. Parking was easy, the arancini freshly made across the street was to die for (and they sold a bottle of wine too!). We ate in the restaurant Giuseppe brother runs - food was divine and locally produced. We were even given a bottle of olive oil to take home. Such a rare find. Recommend 100%
Nothing. What’s not to like, the terrace, the room decor. We would 100% stay here again.

I passed an important birthday with my wife Pat there. Not only that we have been welcomed as old friends, Pepe brought our luggage into his nicect room - a beautiful suite - and offered us a bottle of Champ to celebrate the birthday on the trrrace with magnificant views all arround the village. Evrything just perfect! Pepe and his family owensd as well a beautiful old restaurant (Mates) just some steps away with a delicate menu. Not only the decoration is worth to be admired it is the food. All over excellent and if you like red wine , take the Tancredi. It was the perfect birthday surprise an i thank you very much Pepe to have made our stay so romantic.
Nothing found…..

A really impressive B&B. Located in a beautiful building that has been renovated superbly whilst still maintaining plenty of historical charm. The parking is super easy as others say and Giuseppe is a great host who makes you feel very welcome. We ate at their restaurant and have to day it was the best meal we had whilst in Sicily, for a really reasonable price. We only wish we'd stayed longer and explored more of Caltabelotta, it definitely worth going a little off the beaten track for.
Everything was great

Sotto le Stelle is an absolutely beautiful charming, cozy B&B situated in the magical mountain town of Caltabellotta. Our room was spacious, lovingly decorated and very comfortable. We enjoyed a terrace with a beautiful view of the valley and sea. Breakfast was a delicious assortment of fruit, pastries and excellent coffee! Giuseppe is a very gracious host. The family restaurant M.A.T.E.S. is excellent! The best dinner and local wine we had on our Sicily trip!
Not a thing! 😊

My stay at Sotto le Stelle in the charming village of Caltabelotta was nothing short of exceptional, and much of that credit goes to our wonderful host, Giuseppe. Upon arrival, we were delighted to find that Giuseppe had upgraded us to the largest room available. It was a space that combined comfort with rustic charm, providing a cozy retreat after a day of exploration. An unexpected but much-appreciated perk was the availability of a washing machine and tumble dryer. service. These took care of all our laundry needs, allowing us more time to soak in the local culture. The breakfast spread was delightful. Fresh, local produce coupled with traditional recipes made for a great start to our day. Parking, often a headache when visiting small villages, was a breeze. Thanks to Giuseppe's clear instructions sent beforehand, we encountered no issues finding a spot for our car. In the evening, we dined at Giuseppe's restaurant, Mates. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was impeccable. The highlight of our evening was conversing with Giuseppe’s father, a gracious man who enriched our understanding of the local culture. Caltabelotta itself is a must-visit. Though the village has almost no streets, the labyrinth of stairs adds to its allure. Once you reach the cathedral at the top of the mountain, you're rewarded with panoramic views that are truly breathtaking. If you're looking for an authentic experience nestled in the hills of Sicily, Sotto le Stelle should be on your list. Highly recommended! Would I stay again? Absolutely. Would I recommend it to friends and family? Without a second thought. Thank you, Giuseppe, for making our stay a memorable one

Accommodation and everything overall was great. Giuseppe helped us with parking, but even if you park a little below the accommodation in the square, it's fine because it's a short walk. The village has an amazing atmosphere and even though it takes a while to get there on the serpentine roads, it's really worth it. We hiked up the mountain above the village and I recommend that too. It's a charismatic village with no crowds of tourists.

Giuseppe went out of his way to make this an exceptional experience. Extremely responsive to our needs prior to arrival; he responded to my questions immediately. The food was superb at his restaurant down the street, definitely the best meal we have had in Sicily!! All farm fresh food with the best service and very good wine. We are picky and this place definitely exceeded our expectations. Breakfast was just as wonderful with a very generous and attentive Giuseppe taking care of us. Giuseppe also went to city hall for me to gather information for me on my family who emigrated to USA from Caltabellotta in the 1920s. If anyone is deciding whether or not to stop in Caltabellotta, DO IT!! Sicily has recently become a big tourist attraction and Caltabellotta still has that small town feel. We came from Palermo and Trapani and we’re very disenchanted with how crowded and touristy everything was. We found it difficult to find any decent food that was not fried!! These towns cater to the massive influx of tourists such that you miss out on the essence of the city. Come experience a magnificent non-commercialized small farming village in Sicily, set inside a mountain top with the best views, fresh homemade food and that is not overrun with cheap tourist shops. We hiked up to an old Norman castle on the hilltop that was built over an old Arab fortress to see the most magnificent views of the Agrigento region. There is an old Greek sacrificial altar outside a cathedral just across the square also worth seeing with amazing vistas. This was, by far, culturally the best part of our Sicilian vacation.

The booking was easy and the communication with the owner in English was smooth. Our room was big, clean and very well equipped including powerful hair dryer, long mirror in the bathroom, tissues and even selective recycling bins. The view from the room was exceptional and the property has a lovely roof terrace which we sadly couldn't enjoy due to the heat and the short stay in the city. Breakfast was excellent, and the owner was kind enough to prepare eggs for us as per our special request. We don't usual eat pastries for breakfast but the croissant was so good that we couldn't resist it. There was even entertainment during breakfast. The owner proudly played videos of the city and his pistachio and olive farms which we really enjoyed seeing. The owner has a restaurant nearby and we would have liked to try it but it was closed on the Wednesday when we stayed there. We recommend checking availabilities in advance.
As you might expect from the location of the city (being on the very top of a mountain) that there are some heavy suitcase carrying. There is a parking nearby but you still have to go up hill and carry your luggage for a few minutes. Travel light if you can! Despite all of that the owner was helpful and carried our suitcases upstairs in the property. There is an air conditioning unit in the room but it wasn't as powerful as we'd have liked. Despite the city being somewhat cooler due to it's location the heat during the night was frustrating and the air was not circulating properly. If you travel with a friend we recommend booking two rooms as the mattress is springy and you can really feel when the other person moves around.

The standard is way better than most hotels - the room appeared like something taken right out of the iconic ball room scene in Viconti’s 1963 classic “The Leopard”. And the view from the room was everything that you could have hoped for when deciding for a stay in the charming mountain city of Caltabellotta. The owner was forthcoming, helpfull, charming and very informative. Don’t miss out on dining in the adjacant restaurant of his - also mindblowingly decorated and painted in fantastic colours. A real experience in itself - even without mentioning the delicious food and excellent service.
Only the weather.
