The best hostel in Catania. The hostel is conveniently located in Via Etnea - a buzzing and vibrant square in Catania’s old town that overlooks notable attractions such as the noble Elephant monument and the foreboding Mount Etna in the distance. The rooms are stunning and ornate given the hostel being a former palace in earlier days - my room had a gorgeous terrace outside as does the common room so you can eat your breakfast whilst overlooking the notable Piazza El Duomo. What I particularly loved about Ostello was that you have a free breakfast and pasta every day which included generous servings of brioche croissants, a delicious selection of fruits, a hot drink and the renowned pasta alla Norma. This saves the expense of eating out and was a life saver on my first night after an arduous day of travelling. What’s more, you can leave your bags safely in the lockers hours before your check in time which saves the trouble of lugging a bag around. The team at Ostello Degli Eleganti are professional, welcoming and so kind, always greeting visitors with a smile on their face and extremely helpful when giving recommendations to various attractions in Catania. I met so many lovely people here and an very sad to be leaving. I would definitely recommend Ostello Degli Elefanti and will certainly be coming back again. I stayed there for 4 nights and let’s just say I really enjoyed every part of it. This hostel have a fantastic location. Very easy to get around to see the city main attractions, and around 15 min walk to the bus and train station to visit other places near by. The roof top bar and the small balcony’s have an amazing view, where you can relax and enjoy the vibes in the evening and day time. Breakfast is good and there is free pasta every night. But the best part of my stay there was the staff. They were all amazing, friendly and and fantastic. Always helpful, welcoming and had a smile with a nice word. I would 100% recommend to stay there. I will be back and definitely stay there again without any hesitation. Thank you for everything to make my solo trip unforgettable.

Great, smiling and helpful staff. The interior of the hostel is impressive and there is a lot of space in the common areas. The location is perfect, right in the center, but you have to take into account that it will be noisy. Small breakfast and dinner included in the price (delicious pasta). It was very clear. I highly recommend

Due to the fact that the main square is quite noisy at night, I was there out of season and it was noticeable. It may be difficult without earplugs ;) but you have to take this into account when choosing such a place. The lockers have a very small hole for a padlock, mine, quite small, did not fit.

The location is amazing, right at the city center and the hostel is amazing! It has the best terrace from which you can observe the city and the Etna! It has a lot of space to have breakfast, eat, cook, and even relax. They offer free pasta everynight and that´s a great opportunity to meet the people staying there! The staff is amazingly friendly and they have super good vibe!

The hostel has two buildings, I was at the other building and even if its a really short walk it wasn´t the most comfortable thing for me. Heads up! no elevator, so when you get there ask the staff if you´re staying at the main or side building to avoid going up with all your stuff and then comming down again

The accommodation is located in the very center of the city, and this is certainly its main advantage. Just a few steps and you are in the square, with restaurants and bars all around. The rooms had seen some use, but everything was wonderfully clean. There was no lack of a hairdryer or mini fridge in the room. The staff spoke perfect English and were happy to help us with anything. Breakfast was simple (croissant, coffee or juice, bowl of fruit) but tasty. You can work, have a drink or even buy earplugs in the café at the reception. Unfortunately we didn't manage to take advantage of the interesting event - free pasta every night or to check out the rooftop bar, which was closed. But it must be great in the summer season.

The accommodation was hidden in a courtyard and the reception with a café was located on the third floor of one of the buildings. Our room was in the other building and also on the top floor with no lift. Going up the stairs wouldn't have been a problem, but when the hot water stopped running (they warned us that this could happen), going downstairs, then upstairs to the other building to the reception, downstairs again and upstairs back to the apartment was not something we wanted to do. We also did not manage to turn on the heating in the air conditioning, but luckily there were extra blankets in the closet.

-amazing location, short walk to busses, shops… -friendly staff, amenities, large common areas, well equipped kitchen - privacy curtains in the room, private bathroom in the room - clean common areas, daily cleaning in rooms -great views. room with balcony. common areas with balconies and tables to enjoy a book with the view - good value for the money

- too loud at night (but that’s understandable, being located in the core downtown) -reception was in one building and rooms in another, so going from one area to another requires a lot of stairs and doors to unlock

Ostello degli elefanti is definitely among the most beautiful hostels i have ever been - from the frescos and art installations in the common rooms to the paintings to the great view of the rooftop terrace! There's free (though limited, so be quick) pasta and a happy hour every evening and the staff is super friendly and helpful. İt's also a good place to meet other travellers.

The super central location of the hostel also has a downside: the noise outside never really stops, so bring your best earplugs. Also be prepared for some serious back pain in the morning because the mattresses have seen their best days long ago.

Throughout an amazing experience, I loved every minute of my stay in the hostel. I wouldn't consider going anywhere else if I come back to Catania, the hostel has everything you could wish for: The sweetest people at the reception, super clean and practical rooms, the most beautiful common area I've seen - and the phenomenal view from the rooftop bar! important to know: Just like most places there, the windows are thin and don't keep all the sound outside, so if you're a light sleeper make sure to bring earplugs! They do sell some at the 24/7 reception as well, which I loved :)

The only thing that was missing was a shelf for the upper bed in my room - something to put my stuff without the risk of it falling down on the person sleeping below me would have been nice :)

- Prime Location. Close to the bus stand for the airport, Palermo, Syracuse. Even Catania Central is 20 mins by walk. It is the city centre. Close to all restaurants and monuments. - Very friendly staff. The staff is always available and very friendly. -Clean! The toilets bathoom, rooms everything was kept clean and tidy - Laundry facilities, food during off hours are cheap. - Food served in the morning breakfast is simple and healthy.

- The beds are really cranky. Wooden beds make less noise. While people were respectful and made minimum noise, but as soon as they are on the bed even the slightest movement makes a lot of noise. - Locks should be provided for the lockers.

Ideal location in absolute city centre, breakfast was great and so was free pasta for dinner. Shared space (bar, dining Area) looked amazing. View from the balcony was absolutely amazing.

Entering the building was quite tricky as to open the main door you need to ring the bell. Luckily, i didnt get back way too late, So there was always someone to answer the door. I would also appreciate if the staff showed me the hostel a little bit more (they didnt telll me where thé bathrooms were, told me the wrong time of dinner pasta serving etc), i guess it was partly caused by language barrier. Personally, i didnt mind the people constantly singing at the square under the windows (it created a very nice atmosphere), but i think some people might find it quite annoying.
