The host was incredibly friendly, and we especially enjoyed starting our mornings with their mother’s delicious homemade baked goods. The room was very clean and nicely decorated, with a comfortable bed and a great view. While navigating the city can be tricky at first, the host was more than happy to guide us. They provided clear instructions on parking nearby, which is about a 5-10 minute walk from the property. They also gave us a helpful map and detailed recommendations for all the local sites and activities. Highly recommend for a lovely stay!”

The location was absolutely beautiful, right in the centre of Matera. The apartment itself was exceptionally clean and stylish and the terrace was a real highlight. We were greeted on arrival and given a very informative and friendly explanation of Matera which included points of recommendation and a map to take with us! We really couldn’t fault La Casa di Ele and wouldn’t hesitate to stay again. Highly recommend to anyone who visits!

Nothing however the apartment was down cobbled alleys and stairs so if you have any issues with mobility then this may be something to consider ☺️

The host Erasmo was super friendly and possessed an extremely positive attitude. The property was in a great location. Right outside the property door is a view of the old town, with houses and steps stacked on top of each other. We had the room with the large shower spa which was great. The room in general was spacious, clean and comfortable. I'd stay there again. The breakfast was nice, mainly sweets like cake, croissants, jam etc. Most were homemade by Erasmo's mother which adds a nice touch. Also homemade bread, cold cuts and cheese on offer.

I can't fault the property. Everything was perfect. I'd would suggest to offer savoury breakfast like scrambled eggs or omelette for those tourists who are used to that kind of breakfast.

Everything about our stay here was perfect! Raffaele met us at the front door, showed us a map and highlighted points of interest. We stayed in the Junior Suite which is a "cave" but mind blowing to say the least, with incredible attention to detail in every aspect of the suite. We were treated to a yummy breakfast with Erasmo explaining his mum cooked the cakes fresh every day, they also catered to my request of a vegan crossiant 🥰 We can't recommend Casa di Ele and the beautiful Matera highly enough and hope to return one soon 😀

Perfect position to explore Matera. We pre booked a parking space just a couple of minutes easy walk away. An absolute must! The property was absolutely gorgeous. Our room was very clean and comfortable with great views of Matera from the terrace. There’s so much to see in Matera, we were offered coffee and given a map with recommendations of the highlights including restaurants for the evening. That personal touch was appreciated as was the delicious breakfast the following morning.

There was absolutely nothing to dislike about the property.

When I arrived I was greeted by Raffaele and given lots of tips and lots of information on where eat, visit and some history of Matera. My room was spacious and comfortable with a great bathroom too. Location was perfect, easy access from the train and to all there was to see in this magnificent city. Breakfast each morning was delicious homemade sweet and savoury food. The communication before arriving and while I was there was fantastic. I felt like I had been welcomed into a family home.

If I could give this place 11 stars I would! First of all the location is very convenient, because you are a few meters away to the new city (very convenient if you have a car since cars are not allowed in the Sassi area) but also very close to the central streets of Sassi. We stayed at the Suite - the most incredible room !! Very unique experience!! They have magically preserved the cave and many historic pieces inside all while making the room very modern and luxurious. The cave shower is an experience on its own! We stayed with a baby and we were super comfortable. The breakfast is top notch!! You can have homemade cakes, focaccia and jam all made from the owners mother, and Italian cheese and prosciutto and other things worth trying !! Erasmo, the owner is super friendly and overall a very welcoming person always smiling! He also gives some great information about the city and where to navigate which is super helpful!!

Fantastic location overlooking the central Sassi and close to the centre of the old city. Easy to reach via car. The hosts were very friendly and helpful and happy to talk about the history of Matera and make recommendations for sites and restaurants. Our room with the balcony with views into the Sassi was wonderful. Breakfast was included and delicious including home made cakes by Mama. Italy family run hospitality.

The bed was too firm for my liking. A topper & softer pillow would make all the difference to a good night's sleep.

Staying in this house feels like an immersion into the history. Beautiful experience and it is really worth it to book minimum 2 nights in order to properly feel and understand the uniqueness of this wonderful place. The house has a very good vibe and a very good location. The host is very professional but the cherry on the top is the excellent homemade breakfast. I still think sometimes at that beautiful croissant with vanilla cream filling so authentic Italian taste. Thank you for the beautiful experience.

Not trusting my intuition in order to stay 2 nights instead of just one.

La Casa di Ele was a complete surprise. The room where we stayed for two nights was outstanding and brand new. Actually, it was more a small private house than a room, with two adjacent living rooms, two bathrooms, one of them behind the bed very large and futuristic with several sources of water and including changing lights. The room is typical of Matera, almost with no windows. The door is right in one of Matera streets so you immediately walk into the amazing site of Matera. This room is outside the main building where the other guest are and where breakfast is served. The breakfast is very good. All the staff very helpful and educated. The property belongs to a family, several of the member manage it.
