Excellent location for visiting the city, and parking was available round the corner (although it cost an extra 20 euros a night). Very quirky with bikes and mopeds all over the place and glass floors and a glass lift. The breakfast was enormous with both sweet and savoury delights. And the service was on the whole very good.

Our room was clean and comfortable enough, although in common with many hotels there were no shelves or bedside tables to put things on. We did also have an occasional unpleasant smell from the drains in the bathroom.

Secure parking, staff very helpful, in old town, medieval streets, assisted with parking very impressed! Breakfast continental, amazing, pastries and fruit, great Cappuccino! Location the best, close to Norman Palace, Cathedral, Quatra Conti, the four corners, offered upgrade room and late checkout, staff were very helpful!

This quirky little hotel was the perfect base for a few days exploring Palermo. The staff are all wonderful, made me feel very welcome and tolerated my beginner's Italian with a smile. Breakfasts are wild and incredibly generous - it took me a day or two to learn to direct the staff on what I wanted, but honestly you could live on this meal alone! Top marks also for the location, which puts all the sights and restaurants of the old town within easy walking distance.

I would have appreciated a bit more hanging space in the room - the rail available was only at knee height, so I had to improvise by hanging longer items around the room. Generally the room was a little small compared with the bathroom - but the bathroom was brilliant, bright and generously sized.

The kindness and helpfulness of the owner and his team is exceptional. They gave us advise through our whole trip and even prepared an extra breakfast in our room, as we had to leave early in the morning. The accommodation is furnished with love and you have everything you need. It's close to the historic city centre and the famous Ballarò Market, but still in a more quiet area in the city centre (sure, compared to Germany, it is a little noisy. ...but come on it's Palermo. You have to be prepared, it's a very lively city). All in all we loved our Hotel and we'd be happy to be back at Porta di Castro Boutique Hotel. <3 Thanks for everything! Grazie mille!

We thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated our time here. The staff was the best; breakfast was above average, actually, it was very diverse and exceptional. Location near the must visit sites was also excellent.

Our room, although very nice and clean on the 2nd floor , had a strange location in that the entry and window could not be opened without exposing it to the ground floor breakfast and main public area. We worried about having so many Vespas hanging on the wall of our room, although it was an interesting display. We loved the the building was converted from an ancient church. The restoration was beautiful.

The staff, they made this hotel. Yes decor is quirky and the location is ideal, however people make a place. I wish more places back home were like this. They were helpful knowledgeable and made suggestions on how to make our stay more enjoyable. They evidently work well as a team. Breakfast was exceptionall however to much food and a bit overwhelming.

I think I could have picked a better room for my needs, however that was my choice and not the hotel’s problem. The hotel is an old building so is a bit unconventional in layout however this is surely part of the charm. Who am I to judge. They do hospitality so well.

I think it was the best hotel experience I've ever had. I recieved an incredibly warm and accommodating welcome from the professional but friendly staff, very helpful personalised advice and orientation on nearby attractions, restaurants and transport (all in perfect English - I'm working on my Italian but need to do much better!). My room (and ensuite) was very comfortable and cool from the A/C and I loved that there was interesting art in the room and the amazing breakfast FEAST (truly the only accurate description) was incredible! The most delicious array of fresh fruit, cheeses, breads, eggs, pastries plus delicious coffee exactly (how I ordered). AND on top all of that, the location is perfect for exploring Palermo on foot (you can go all day without stoping when fuelled by the amazing breakfast) to soak up all of the vitalness of this beautiful city in the historic quarter as well as shopping and museums. Cannot recommend highly enough. Already looking forward to a return trip.

That I was only there for one night

I had an absolutely lovely stay here, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and I felt they went over and above - even giving me a small gift upon departure! The breakfast spread was fantastic, I was travelling alone and there was a huge variety to choose from, I wished I could have eaten it all. The pool area was beautiful and very tranquil (I used it early morning between 09:00-10:30 as it did seem to get busier in the afternoons). Very comfy bed and plenty of space in the room. Would definitely recommend, overall a fantastic stay!

The shower head was fixed facing into the wall and couldn’t be moved, so a bit tricky to actually get underneath it. Also having an attic room meant that the pipes were noisy when other guests were showering (I think), but I’m used to sleeping with earplugs so not too much of an issue! The ceiling was low in places too so had to be careful not to bump my head and duck in the right places.

Very central location, a 5 minute walk from Palazzo Reale-Orleans Train station on the Airport line, and at the northern end of via Vittorio Emanuele, the main shopping street of Palermo. The hotel is difficult to find as it is hidden behind the facade of a residential block. Enter and you find yourself in a quiet and cool Oasis, protected from the heat and noise of the city. Walls and ceilings are decorated with old two wheelers, bikes and Vespas. Some of the old building structures are visible in between. We had a super quiet room with a window to the courtyard. A swimming pool is across the street in a neighbouring yard. Breakfast was typically Italian with brioche, croissants and coffee.

This is complaining on a high level, but some of the boutiqueiness was a little too much. No towel hooks in the bathroom, a very fancy stone sink but not much place to put a toiletry bag, etc. The bed-side tables with inductive phone charging have a mind of their own: no quiet sneaking to the bathroom in the dark at night without the light coming on automatically, which woke up my wife. I found that sneaking in from the foot of the bed worked, as the motion detectors did not see that.

The service was great everyone was so nice and welcoming. We really appreciate the kindness and warmth of everyone that works here and the host especially. The design of the place was phenomenal, the spa is made of dreams and it is gigantic. It is absolutely worth it! Upon arrival we received a welcoming snack. (Thank you again it was si tasty!) The breakfast was fantastic and there was so much food you could never finish it. There was a mix of fruits and sweet pastries but also savoury additions eggs, ham, salami etc. (My favorite was the ginormous pistachio croissant.) In our room there were also snacks and drinks available. The location is amazing everything you need is close by and the trainstation too. I definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.

I can only mention minor issues that got resolved immediately and got taken care of in such a nice way that I wouldn't pay it all too much attention. But just because it's something that's always important to me personally at any stay: It was written that for our room we were supposed to have a water kettle because I'm a coffee lover and I would've loved to have that available. But upon request we received one immediately. The coffee I got from a grocery store nearby.
