Alessandra was the perfect hostess - so warm and helpful whenever we had any questions. Although at first glance, the neighbourhood may not appear to be the most upscale neighbourhood, my family and I felt perfectly safe even when coming back late at night. Alessandra gave us great tips on places to eat and even steered us to great local taxi app which ended up working for us really well. There's an "overground" train station a few minutes from the B&B which was very handy. Her property is only about a 7 minute walk to St. Peter's Basilica which is great if you want to get there at 7:00am to beat all the queues. We pretty much walked in when we arrived right when it opened. I ended up getting up early twice to go there/beat the queues as it was such a short walk from the property and it was my favourite place in Rome. We had a great stay and I was very pleased we chose to stay at Alessandra's B&B.

We loved our stay here! At first we were a little worried because the area didn’t look so great online but it was just fine in person. We felt extremely safe & Mrs Alessandra made us feel right at home. She is the sweetest & most genuine host we’ve ever met, she even made everyone breakfast every morning & made sure our rooms were cleaned for when we would come back. Breakfast was with everyone who stayed in the other rooms & it was so much fun talking to new people & getting to know them! We truly loved it here & felt like family, we will be back!

I love the personalize feel of this bed-and-breakfast. Alexandra was wonderful as a host. She really made sure her guests were comfortable and had everything they needed. Being a single mom and always having to take care of others, it was heaven to have someone concerned about my well-being and taking care of me for a change. To wake up and have breakfast ready and a cappuccino freshly made, it is hard to readjust back at home. Other things I loved about this property was the location which is within walking distance to the Vatican, and you have easy access to bus and train. There are several restaurants within walking distance, so you do not have to go far for what you need. 

I loved everything about Beside the Vatican

The hosts are incredibly hospitable; offering to book a taxi, to arrange for a breakfast plate upon early departure, to offer all kinds of assistance. I felt really welcome. The B&B is located in an apartment building and has a couple of rooms equipped with bathroom, and a shared dining area. Breakfast is offered between 8 and 10 and includes yoghurt, bread, croissants, Italian cookies and pies, fruit, fresh luncheon, boiled eggs, coffee, tea, juices, etc. The location is also close to a major bus station, with amongst others a bus to the city centre (which otherwise is a 30-45 min walk). The area is safe and has shops and some restaurants closeby.

This is beyond the control of the host, but the street on which the B&B is located is quite noisy, as are the neighbours in neighbouring apartments of whom you can hear TV and conversation noises. The neighbourhood is otherwise quiet so no parties were heard at night, but I did not sleep well due to the noise. I chose this location because was somewhat in between business and leisure locations, but would not have chosen this if I were in Rome for leisure only.

This Hotel is amazing! Everything was smooth, clean, comfortable. Managers are very friendly and kind, always want to help with advices about interesting historical places, cafes and etc. Alessandra met us with her incredible warm croissants in the breakfast, and meal as a whole is delicious. Every day we had a clean and fresh room. If we had any questions, Alessandra was always available. And Rom is just gorgeous :) Hotel is close to Vatican (5-10 min by walking) and many other historical buildings. Thanks so much and we wish success to this cozy place. Anna and Daniel

Can be a little bit noisy in the morning when guests have a breakfast, but you prefer to stay in the bed a bit longer till 9 - 9:30 a.m. But if you get up early and exiting to explore Rom and Vatican it is no problem :)

Alessandra was a wonderful host - very helpful with the list of things to do and see and very caring about the guests. The hotel was located in a very quiet street very close to the Vatican (5 minutes walking distance) and the main tourist attractions, it was perfect for a first visit to Rome. The breakfast was very good and generous - the place was well kept and extremely clean.

Nothing comes to mind

This is a superb place to stay when visiting Rome and especially so for proximity to the Vatican. The place was impeccably clean and had everything that you would need for a stay. We took our 17 year old son and whilst he was a little tall for the rollaway bed, it made do for the few nights he was was us. Alessandra was simply the best host you could wish for - she is so helpful with suggestions on where to visit and how to get to your destination - her husband is also a taxi driver and we made use of his services on a couple of occasions. Overall - a really lovely place, run by genuinely nice people. We will absolutely be back.

nothing about the property (a little unfortunate that upstairs were renovating whilst we were there, but that’s not the fault of the B&B)

Quiet neighborhood and very close to Vatican and restaurants. Easy access to city buses (recommended mode if not walking). The host is especially helpful; she arranged tours for us when we requested her help, she provided local information that proved to be very helpful. She is gracious and warm. The unit itself is exceptionally clean and the breakfasts were bountiful. The unit is truly a B&B. Each party gets a modest sized room with an efficient and modern private bathroom (our room had a balcony but the three other units did not have balconies.) The guests share a kitchen area and breakfast is provided by the host at a time of your choosing.

Not much. As noted, the rooms were of modest size but sufficiently comfortable for two people. Since the unit is located in an apartment building on a small street, make sure you have a copy of the address to give to the taxi driver; it makes life a lot easier.

Beside the Vatican is a sweet of a property in Rome, and Mrs. Alexandra is the shining star who makes it truly exceptional. From the moment you arrive, she ensures that your stay is as comfortable and enjoyable as possible and is always on hand to offer recommendations for local restaurants and attractions, and she's happy to assist with anything else you may need during your stay. The rooms are beautifully appointed, and Mrs. Alexandra's personal touch is evident throughout the property, from the beautiful decor to the thoughtful amenities provided in each room. But what really sets this property apart is the level of care and attention that Mrs. Alexandra and her team provide. They go above and beyond to ensure every aspect of your stay and even the coffee and pastries in the morning are perfect.

Alessandra was a great host! She gave good recommendations and prepared a nice breakfast daily. The BB was close to the Vatican but everything else was a long walk away (55 mins to colosseum, for example, 20 to Vatican museums). This was certainly on us, just something to be aware of, mainly if you are coming in the summer. Otherwise the cleanliness, hospitality and safety was perfect.
