The ladies who cleaned the room did a very good job and were very friendly. Thalia at reception was always very helpful and a good laugh. Federico the owner was always glad to give suggestions and have a chat. He is a hard working and conscientious person. I was surprised at how quiet my room was, despite being so centrally located. A few steps away from the lake, the two lovely churches and all the town has to offer.

Maybe an extra power point? But this is a minor matter.

Staying at Saini felt like being welcomed into a family. By arrival we were greeted by the owner, who since the first moment and for the duration of our whole stay was always present to make our stay as pleasant as possible. As well as the rest of the staff - with a positive and welcoming attitude, ready to answer any questions or just chat for a while. It didn't feel like being away from home - we were given all the necessary information to comfortably navigate the city and make the most of our time there, and by returning to the hotel in the evenings, we were warmly welcomed back. It felt like the staff genuinely cared about the wellbeing of the guests. Every morning started with some delicious freshly brewed coffee and a breakfast buffet, that contained enough one might need to start a day, and after breakfast all till the evening, a bar with some coffee and other drinks for very reasonable prices was available in the lobby. The central location of the hotel provides easy access to the main attractions of the city, as well as a variety of little shops, cafes and restaurants. And all that with a stunning romantic view over the roofs of little nearby houses and some mountains beyond them.

This hotel has character, with interesting objects decorating corners and niches in the public areas. My room was simple, quiet and very comfortable and had a little balcony to let in the fresh air. The location was perfect, right in the centre of town with lots of restaurants and shops nearby, and 10 minutes walk from the station. The continental breakfast was very good. The host, Frederico went out of his way to make my stay enjoyable and takes pride in giving his guests a good experience at the hotel. I would definitely stay again.

There was nothing to dislike.

The hosts were excellent and extremely helpful. They were helpful with directions and also getting us a reservation (at the last minute) at one of the restaurants in town that was full. Breakfast was nice with cheese, toast, fruit, cereal, ham, hard boiled eggs, pastries, coffees, teas, milk, soft drinks, hot cereal, etc. All very fresh and tasty! A great location within walking distance to everything in town and of course the ferries. We will definitely be back. Hosts really made you feel at home.

The location in the centre of town was great, near shops, a great variety of restaurants and the lakeside parks and boat trips. We chose this hotel because of the lift and were very glad we did. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the room was comfortable with plenty of storage space. The breakfast was lovely with a wide choice and the coffee kept coming!

I have nothing negative to say.

This hotel is very centrally located and is an easy walk from the train station (with the exception of the stairs down from the railway station). Super close to Gigi’s bar which was my favourite. The staff were excellent and anticipated my needs before I did. The property had a lift, bed was comfortable and hair dryer was available from reception and rooms were equipped with a fan as no air conditioning. The terrace overlooking the red roofs was great. Wifi was ok

Wifi really needs to be upgraded. It was really warm at night with the doors shuts and just the fan. Air-con would increase the rating of the hotel. Albeit it did not affect my stay and just a suggestion but a duvet instead of the quilts would also upgrade the hotel.

Hotel Saini is a lovely old building filled with collectibles of owner’s father, and set on the oldest street In Stresa. It is a 10-15 minute walk from the train station, 1/2 on cobbled streets, so if you have a wheeled bag, make sure it’s sturdy. The location is great as it’s very close to Lake Maggiore and the ferry terminal. I was able to get an earlier check in. As I’d booked a single room, it was quite small but adequate with a small balcony. The bathroom was small but had an excellent hot water supply and shower. The breakfast was a good continental selection. The staff and owner were very helpful with hiking information and travel arrangements and engaged in conversation. I’d chosen the hotel based on the history of the building and enjoyed this aspect. A big plus was the elevator, as there is a spiral staircase that would have been difficult to wrangle baggage up and down.

My single room overlooked other buildings, the balcony flooring was partly mossy underfoot, and the railing slightly rusted. It was so close to other buildings I could hear voices & music quite clearly at times, and as the weather was quite warm, and there was no air con, the doors needed to be open to cool the room. Booking and paying for a bigger room may have solved this problem.

It was a great location, about 1 minute from the lake and where the boats depart for the Borromeo Islands. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. They even gave me a bag and little cake when I arrived.

It would have been nice to have a little chair on the balcony. Some of the neighbours opposite were sometimes a bit noisy at night but this didn’t last long & wasn’t all night

I especially like the kindness of the staff, all of the little gestures they did for us, like telling us important information about the boat and how to find correct piers, or the free bottle of water they left in our room every day, very appreciated! I loved the antique style of the reception room and the elevator was so helpful! Our room was pretty fine and clean. I would have preferred to have one more pillow.

Hotel Saini is located in the heart of the old town just a short stroll to everything you need in Stresa … the island ferries, restaurants and fantastic views. The hotel has an old worlde charm and the most helpful and accommodating staff and owner. Thanks Frederico for a memorable couple of days!!
