(1) The breakfast was great - wide varieties of japanese & western dishes given in a ball room size place (Prince Hall). Unlimited supply of salmon roe, tamago, makari, grilled fish, self made beancurd, fries, wedges, muffins etc etc. The coffee machines in the breakfast hall made great drinks and they provided paper cups & caps for free takeaway. (2) The staff were very welcoming even with limited English ability. They were attentive, efficient, polite and warm - all of them from room makers to porters. (3) The whole hotel was filled with fresh air & water - very refreshing from the moment you stepped out of your car park lot. The surrounding woods were a bit daunting in the dark but it burst into lives in the sunlight. We liked it very much. (4) The room although aged, was very well maintained and clean. The toilet has full amenities provided, with clean water and strong shower. Daily house keeping was done and they did a great job. (5) The in-house onsen was great - very clean, optimal temperature and the hotel provideds full suites of clothes, towels, slippers, bag for a comfortable soak. The onsen tax was just a few dollars per pax per stay - very worth it! (6) The surface parking had many lots which allowed us to return to the hotel at late hours. It was just 100m easy walk from the hotel main building. A cottage style bread shop was located within the parking area.

(1) The room had few lights and were all in yellow shades except in the toilet. It would be good to add brighter light sources. The air-conditioning was a bit weak too during our stay which had a heat wave baking Hokkaido. (2) The hotel was located 30min drive away from Hakodate and you needed to drive out for meals as the restaurants closed early. We had a car and it was not a problem but could be an issue for those not driving.

The foreign front desk waiter is amiable and seems very ready to help foreign guests. Window view was suburb!

There were no bath robes anywhere though I saw some other osen users wearing them. No mineral water in the room I guess the location itself is a good spring source so drinking direct is the best? surprisingly winter is the low season so very reduced shuttle bus to the JR station. Mostly would appreciate if there are other dining options other than buffet dinner!

This is a beautifl hotel in an impressive location. Love the rotenburo and the dining hall over the swamp.

I received a very very far away room, that I had to take a very very long walk from elevators. On top of it, there was a problem with the toilet, and the washlet did not work. In the night, despite being in an isolated area, I could hear the trucks on the highway - since my room was not positioned in the central part. I suspect that the hotel treated me this way for buying a discount price with booking.com but I think it is a wrong decision. I was disappointed.

We were given a free upgrade to a room with a view of the small lake and the volcano, as well as the forest, and it was so lovely I didn't want to leave. Beautiful and spacious room and excellent value at the price we paid. Tranquil location, great and helpful staff, and good location for touring by car. Nearby Onuma Quasi-National Park is lovely, especially at sunset. Wifi worked well, everything was good, and the hotel has pretty grounds with woodland walks.

If you like Japanese food the breakfast selection was extensive and very good although the western offer was limited. The Japanese bath is spectacular with outdoor baths over looking a beautiful lake that is lite up at night.

Quite a long way from the lakes with limited transfers. Isolated from restaurants and shops. Staff have very limited English. Communal bath (Onsen) gets very busy so if you don't liked crowded public bathing better to bath after 11pm. The hotel does not have a bar and restaurant offer is limited and expensive.

It’s the hotel on my must visit list . I visit it every year. Splendid scenery fantastic hotel. The views around the hotel are unbelievable . Too beautiful . It’s my dreamland sceneries, I still dream about it when I came home. Hopefully nobody see my comments , I don’t want it to be fully booked next time when I want to book. Thanks for giving me such beautiful memories. Love this hotel so much.

Nothing. Everything is perfect.

The setting in the forest near the small lake was lovely, especially as it rained. The room was clean, well equipped, with a lovely forest outlook. The onsen was very relaxing. The convenience store downstairs was handy, as was the bakery down the hill. Staff were professional, but friendly. We especially would like to thank the bus driver who took us in and out of Onumakoen (to and fom the station and to walk aound the lake ) a few times. Great service! Thank you.

Beautiful location, surrounded by nature and a short drive to a gorgeous lake. We all enjoyed our dinner in the restaurant. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the price was really reasonable.

The air conditioner didn’t seem to be working very well on the cooling function.

Everything was excellent.

Communicating in English was challenging. This was less of a problem years ago. It seems that over the years English has become less of a requirement for most Japanese. Fortunately a person Peter (Canadian/Japanese resident) was there to help us.

This is a beautiful hotel in the middle of the woods and very conveniently located for travel Onuma quasi national park. Facilities were very nice if ever so slightly out of date, staff were exceptional, and food was superb. Highly recommend the course meals at the evening dining facility.

There is limited to no public transportation or taxis (especially at certain times) so shuttle service, for particularly for big evening events, could be expanded.
