This place is perfectly located for a traveler: 5 minutes from the train station, right in the center of town, close to some very good restaurants, within walking distance of the major tourist attraction. The hotel is new and stylishly designed. The room is spacious. The breakfast was quite extensive, but with limited western breakfast choices. It was c a great choice.

Absolutely nothing. Well, maybe, the breakfast could have a few more western choices.

This hotel is among the very finest that I have stayed in during my 40 years of traveling the world. By "finest" I do not compare it to a Ritz Carlton or a Mandarin Oriental, which are also very, very fine. The word "finest" here is meant to say that everything, everywhere, and everyone offered an absurd high quality experience worth far, far more than what we paid. In that regard, the value ratio is off the charts. Let me say truthfully: I have never stayed at another Kamakura hotel *BUT* after staying here, I will never stay at another Kamakura Hotel. This is my home the next time that I am in Kamakura. The laundry facility was excellent, the (free) lobby coffee was almost as good as Starbucks, the entryway was modern and sleek, the location is absolutely spot-on, the folks at the check-in were so friendly and sweet, and the entire property is non-smoking. If I could time travel, I would tell the 3-month-ago-me to stop researching Kamakura hotels and just make the reservations at the Hotel "MK" and instead worry about the Kyoto hotel reservations.

For the money paid, nothing could be better. Frankly, this hotel could easily charge another Yen 10,000 / night (USD $64) and it would still be my first choice.

1. LOVE the proximity to shops like Muji, pharmaceutical store (just opposite), bookstore, post office, train station, supermarket etc. 2. Lovely room amenities with eye mask and leg patches provided! First time encountering a hotel giving these items as part of their amenity kit. 3. Love that the room also has 6 bottles for 3 pax! Very generous with their water. 4. The staff are very attentive, polite and accommodating, very good! This time around, I messaged the property via booking.com's messaging system for some special requests around Mar 2024. I didn't get a reply from them and was too busy to follow up. As it happens, the hotel missed out on my special request. Interestingly, the staff who checked us in, Ms. Satomaki, read my messages and to make up for it, she gave us a present from the hotel, so sweet of them. 5. Love that Muji is connected to the hotel and served breakfast albeit at a steep price of $30. We didn't have the hotel's Muji breakfast as there are other options nearby. 6. The main shopping street is just across the road

1. The room had a bit of a weird BO smell? We tried spraying everything we had but no use, I think it's just the room smell. We encountered this smell when we stayed in Feb 2024 too. 2. The hotel needs an onsen, even a small one, for it to be absolutely perfect! 3. The pillows are way too flat and small, which causes neck pain in the morning. Happened during our stay in Feb 2024 too. 4. Need a water cooler in their laundry area or somewhere in their hotel?

This was one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed at. Very clean. Lots of cool items in the toiletries tray like steamy eye masks and salon pads for your legs. The staff were super helpful and communicative. They set up the sofa bed for my child, and I appreciated it so much. I booked three rooms for our family, and everyone loved their rooms. Walkable from Kamakura Station. Komachi Street is right outside the door. The path leading to the Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine starts right outside of the hotel. I used a luggage delivery service to send my luggage to this hotel, and everything arrived without any issues.

It took a while for us to find the front entrance to the hotel, which is to the left side when you are coming from the train station; the entrance faces the FamilyMart. I wish the coffee machine was available all the time and not only during select hours of the day. I also used the washer/dryer in the hotel, and it did not fully dry my clothes even after adding an additional 30 minutes. If you pay 500 yen, you can use the washer/dryer for 2 hours. However, you can pay 300 for the wash and 100 yen for the dryer separately. So maybe it is more cost effective to do the cycles separately. The smell in the hotel entrance area near the elevator was intense for us, too aromatic.

We have stayed at this property multiple times and have always been impressed. It is a Japanese hotel so the quality of the staff and service, appointments, and cleanliness were all superlative. Hotel Metropolitan is connected to the Japan Rail East Group so it is located a very short (2-3 minutes?) walk from JR Kamakura Station. Very modern in design with nice Japanese touches. This time our room was facing the Japanese garden in the inner courtyard which was lovely, even in the off season. This property does not offer resort facilities (pool, gym, bars, restaurants, etc.), but is next door to a MUJI store and MUJI cafe and very much in the center of all Kamakura has to offer.

Nothing.

The location right next to the start of the causeway with a torii-gate to Hachimangu and less than a 5-minute walk to the station makes it a perfect location for sightseeing. The rooms are large for Japanese hotels and very thoughtfully arranged. The front desk folks are helpful, attentive, and polite. As a runner I run even when drizzling and wanted some newsprint to stuff in my shoes, but they offered a shoe dryer (small device with two nozzles and heated air). I'd never seen one before, and it worked like a charm. The lobby is spacious and a good place to congregate for an early morning coffee and browse the print newspapers, including an English-language paper. It was my second time staying at the Metropolitan, and, if possible, I'll be back!

Everything was great. My breakfast is coffee, but the fee for those who do eat is around 3,000 JPY, which is a little expensive. The breakfast is actually provided by a restaurant called MUJI, which is on the ground floor of the hotel. I ate lunch there, and it is quite good so I'd expect the breakfast to be good also.

Breakfast is available at an extra charge and we did not take advantage of it. There is sufficient choice of prepared food from local supermarket and department store to support all meals. The view from the room, corner room on the top floor at the highest daily rate. The room was beautiful, large and pristine. The location in the heart of visitor's Kamakura is perfect.

There were a number of appliances in the room, heater, coolers, humidifiers with instructions only in Japanese. Take a picture and ask at the desk. There is a step-up in the middle of the room which has to be kept in mind. I did not like the desk on the second floor where the ice machine was also situated. Coming in to the hotel you had to wait for the lift to the 2nd floor and after taking care of goals, then walk back to the lift and wait again to get to the room.

Good mix of local Japanese and Western food for breakfast. Could be a little crowed during early opening hours. A little pricy though too but it still within the range what you typically have to pay for breakfast in a good hotel in Japan. It has been my third visit to this hotel and I am always impressed about the total package offered to guests from great location, typically Japanese hospitality, how super clean and how functional everything is. I can really recommend this hotel when staying in Kamakura.

I have nothing to complain about. It's just a great place.

The location and the accommodation were excellent. The hotel is modern and stylish and the rooms very well appointed.

Unfortunately the breakfast on offer was disappointing. Compared with other hotels we used it was expensive and poor value for money. The range of dishes on offer was unappetising and the quantities were not replenished as they ran out, limiting the choice even more. The breakfast is provided in the Muji Cafe which is linked to the hotel which may mean the hotel has less control over the catering than in other situations however the poor breakfast offering reflects upon the reputation of the hotel. On day 2 we did not have the Muji breakfast and made alternative arrangements.

The hotel has an excellent location - mere minutes away from the station. Room was spacious and clean. The staff were all super friendly and polite, it made us feel welcomed from the start. They were very helpful and professional in helping us send our luggage to the next hotel, even wrote the luggage slip for us beforehand which made it so much more easy for us. Breakfast was also excellent and delicious. Overall, we were very happy with our stay and will definitely stay here again next time in Kamakura. Thank you :)

The only thing worth noting is it would have been better if there were more than two washing machines, as it seemed there were constantly people using.
