It was a 6-person room but we were only 2, so plenty of space. Also, 2 separate toilets was nice! So big room, wide beads. Looked new and everything was very clean. We were on 5th floor so also some view over Kyoto from the balcony. Close to Nijo-jo castle and easy access with bus (recommended, rather than the metro because metro station is something like 800 meters away, which can be long if you have a lot of luggage).

I was a little nervous about how the check-in would work and if I had scanned and submitted all needed documents. Finally, everything went fine once I had seen that room number, codes etc were all present in the most recent emails, which meant quite far down in the actual email. Also, we didn't realise straight away that you need to press the door opening button twice for making the numbed visible.

Hotel‘s location was conveniently close to public transport and a supermarket. This made it easy for me and my family to get around and explore the area. The room itself was comfortable and well equipped for our six day stay.

Unfortunately, we had no hot water on our last night while we appreciated the efforts of the host to resolve the issue. It was difficult to do so remotely. Access to the apartment was blocked for two days due to construction work. Some advanced notification would’ve been appreciated as it was difficult to navigate the area. Suggestions for improvement: It would’ve been helpful to have hooks in the room for jackets and towels. If additional bedding was stored on higher shelves in the wardrobe this would allow for more space for suitcases below.

The apartment has all amentities needed including a kitchen, kitchenette, humidifier, vacum cleaners, free washing and drying machine etc. 2 toilets and 2 wash basin are very handy for big group (such as our group of 5 persons). Everything is clean. Check-in with the tablet and code (provided by the property before arriving) was easy and efficient. No staff presented at the property during our 5 days of stay but their 'online present' is sufficient as reply through booking.com message system is fast. Bus stop is 2 min from the apartment. Metro is 10 min. Convenient stores/supermarket/100 yen shop is just accross the corner. Time of travel to Kyoto station, tourist attractions is around 20-30 min.

The futon is a bit thin - some might find it uncomfortable. The apartment is not very big, if you have a big group with luggages, you might find its cramped. Although the apartment is said to be able to acommodate up to 6, I don't recommend more than 4.

We love almost everything about this place! the location is really close to bus stop and 10mins walk to subway station and there are mani kombini nearby. It’s also walking distance to many great food and coffee, one of them is Kurasu Coffee and Ebiya Sushi. Best! We love the neighbourhood. Not crowded but also not very quiet. It’s just right and lovely. We love the easy and smooth check in n check out process. We love the layout (compact but really sufficient for us, family of 4) and it has 2 toilet, which was very convenient. It also has free washing machine n dryer in the building, it’s really helpful.

There’s a stain in one of the bedsheet.

The quadruple room we had was perfect for our family. We liked that it had both the 4 twin beds, but also the option use futon mats which my daughter loved. The beds were comfortable and the room was very clean. We were able to do the digital check in, even when we booked same day. We didnt have any interactions with staff but had everything we needed. It was also great having the laundry facilitiies on-site and free of charge.

The digital check in took a little but to work through, but that may have been because we booked same day and didnt have time to submit all the information in advance. Otherwise, no issues to mention.

We appreciated double toilet rooms, access to a washer and dryer, convenience to bus stops and an actual supermarket (it was the only one we saw on our entire trip and relied on convenience stores at all our other stops so my husband loved the chance to peruse an actual supermarket on the trip), tableware, dining area, easy check in and checkout. But additionally, I LOVED the wall art! I took myself on a Scavenger Hunt of all the clever and creative drawings. They made my smile!

We wish we had understood the bus system prior to our arrival because we ended up walking about 30 minutes from the subway station after a long day of prior walking. We learned our lesson for the return trip though!

A very well presented and very clean place; it had good beds (for Japan), and the 2 toilets was very helpful for the 5-person family we were. All the kit was clean, not worn out, and perfect for the room. The kitchen is very japan -- 2 induction hotplates, a sink, a microwave, and a refrigerator. This is perfect for self-sufficient travellers like us. The laundry is on the ground floor and is FREE -- both washers and dryers and soap. There's 4 of each, so we didn't get a chance to run the last load as people had left their wet stuff in the washers for several hours. However the first two times we tried laundry (we stayed 5 days) there was plenty of open machines.

People have complained about the location, but we found it just fine. Sure, it is a decent walk (about 850m) to either of the two subway stations, but it is 350m to the east-west bus routes, and 150m to the N-S bus routes. It is completely unstaffed -- so if you can dial a Japanese number it would probably be answered and they could help you, but if you ever want to talk to someone, email only.

omfortable and Cozy Stay at Akari Ni Jojo I had a wonderful stay at Akari Ni Jojo! One of the standout features was the mini tatami living room, which added a traditional Japanese touch to the space. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the overall atmosphere was warm and cozy, perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. The apartment also provided great conveniences like a laundry and dryer, which made it easy to refresh clothes during our stay. Another highlight was the location — it's conveniently close to a grocery store, just a short walk away, which made it really easy to stock up on essentials. Overall, I highly recommend Akari Ni Jojo for anyone looking for a comfortable and well-equipped place to stay with a touch of Japanese charm. I’d definitely stay here again!

We love how spacious the room was and was able to fit all of us. The room was very comfortable and beautiful. love that their was a grocery store right across the street for all of our snack needs. The hotel is also very close to the bus station. We had 3 day Kansai Thru Passes and had not issues with bus transportation. The location was very quiet and safe. It was walking distance from the Imperial Palace and the Nijo Castle.

The location is a bit of a walk from the railway and subway station. So we did have to walk a good bit with our suitcases. However, the roads were quiet and smooth so our bags had no issues rolling along. Another thing is that the whole time we did not see any staff members. You check in with a code and walk inside with a code so we were not sure how we could get more towels. Had to wash them ourselves (washing and drying machines were provided with detergent though).
