A huge shoutout to the staff at Len. Wonderful people! Everyone was so helpful and friendly. The atmosphere, the coffee, the food, the drinks, all great. The common area upstairs on the second floor is a cozy spot to meet new people or get some work done. New Years: I'd like to add that I really appreciate how Len had a countdown and sold soba for the New Year. My friends and I didn't plan to be at Len to celebrate the New Year, but Len was doing everything right so we ended up staying. Thanks for such a great time, everyone!

Excellent base for our trip to Kyoto. Len is such a lovely hostel with a cool vibe which extends to its friendly staff and the bar/restaurant downstairs. It has excellent facilities including a coin washer and dryer, and basic kitchen/food supplies in the communal kitchen (e.g. free-to-use rice + rice cooker, soy sauce, cooking oil, tea etc) and the bedrooms and bathrooms were very clean and comfortable. It's also within walking distance of several public transport links for getting around the city. Would definitely stay here again.

The vibe at the hostel was so great - lovely downstairs bar/cafe area with amazing coffee, and the first floor common area for guests was cute too. It was really easy to get to the golden pavilion via the 205 bus which leaves a few hundred metres away from the hostel, and to visit the inari shrine via subway, also only a five minute walk to the station! All in all, great!! We really enjoyed our stay here, the staff were really kind, they let us leave our bags in the hostel after we’d checked out, and everything was lovely and clean. It was a little noisy as our room was facing the road but earplugs were provided so that was great! I wish every hostel was like this one!!

Check in with smooth. They stored my luggage the day I was leaving with no issues. They were really helpful in advising me how to ship my luggage to my last destination and where to go to do that. The cafe downstairs also had a great vibe and very friendly service. All in all a solid location to stay at, at reasonable rate.

I got put in a top bunk for a week and my knee isn't great. If the hostel had proactively asked me if I wanted to move given I watched the lower bunks in my room free up or could have given me a lower bed in the first place I would have liked that.

All well thought out and refined - everything I could think of was there and available - private reading lamp with plug for charging phone, private locker, slippers, shampoo/conditioner/body wash, free umbrellas, and a terrific kitchen available. Staff so kind and friendly and personable. Food and drinks were fab - great atmosphere, easy and beautiful.

Would love to have been able to get breakfast before 8:00 to get an early start to sight-seeing. Most places didn’t open until 9:00.

5th times staying here, it feels like home to me every time I come to Kyoto I’d definitely stay at Len! just the value for the money, good vibes, cafe & bar? clean shared space! I always stayed at bunked room but this time is my first time using the private room, it was really spacious plus high ceiling and big window for natural light. Was great!

The only thing will be the sound proof if you are a light sleeper, please bring your own earplug! even for private rooms, the windows are not thick enough to prevent noise from the road outside…But everything else was great!

Extremely friendly front staff :) Amazing breakfast !!! Try the French toast, granola & yogurt with berries and smoothie. Also evening cocktails were yummy. Super clean place to stay we saw lots of international guests and even some with multiple kids:) it was quite, and the bed was comfortable and clean too. Also this is in my opinion the best place if travelling on foot. The bus stop is right outside and it’s only minutes by bus to the Kyoto station!

Honestly I have nothing negative to say other than I was so sad on check out day when I was informed at the counter the chef wasn’t in so no breakfast that day:(

Great location, easy walk to everywhere, quiet and convenient, good atmosphere. This is a proper youth hostel, for sure, so if that’s the vibe you’re looking for, this is the place. They did provide lots of free ear plugs. I didn’t mind making our own beds with the provided sheets, but just know you’ll need to do that.

Bathrooms have barn doors and don’t actually close like a proper door, so be wary of noise and smells. Cafe is a bit pricey for what it is, especially the beer. It’s got an industrial design with metal piping and concrete etc which gathers dust and can be cold. The property was pricey when compared to other similar accommodations in Kyoto. If a hostel provides free earplugs - use them because you probably will need them.

Location was superb! Staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were a generous size with tall ceilings. Bathrooms were clean and a good size as well. The cafe downstairs was also a plus, good coffee in the morning - we didn’t eat here because there are so many other good options around, but the food looked okay.

No shelving or places to put anything on when you are on the top bunk (phone and water bottle were falling off). Only 1 washing machine for the whole place, definitely could have made it easier to have another one available.

Central location--plenty of eating and drinking options within walking distance, though getting to most tourist spots required a long walk or short taxi ride. The cafe/bar downstairs was very convenient. The food wasn't anything special but was very good overall, and the local craft beer selection was excellent. The bunk room was small but comfortable.

The common area was very cozy and was a great place to enjoy a small meal or cup of tea. But it was small and didn't have much comfortable seating (mainly tables and chairs designed for eating rather than relaxing)--since I had top bunk, I would have appreciated a couch or some other soft place to lounge. Also, though the staff was extremely friendly and helpful, there wasn't a lot of tourist info/ideas readily available. I didn't like the location at first, but once I learned how to ride the bus (which was easy and convenient), I appreciated the central location.
