A nice hotel in a convenient position for the metro from the main train station; also plenty of busses available nearby. Be aware at the nearest metro exit there is a long run of steps, quite a struggle with a heavy case but there is an elevator available although tricky to find. There is a nice spacious reception area with charming and helpful staff. The rooms, as expected, were small but did have a window looking out at another window! The beds were wide and comfortable and everything was very clean. Very limited storage, as expected for the price and location. Good bathroom with a decent sized shower. We especially liked the Japanese style breakfast, lots of choice and an opportunity to try local food. The lady in charge was delightful and clearly took a pride in the food and presentation.

Limited number of restaurants nearby but we found a favourite only 5 mins walk away; go down to the main road turn left and it's a few door down on the left. It is around a 30 min walk to get to the Gion area, or take a bus/taxi

Very close to Karasuma Shijo station. There’s also a nearby Family Mart which is very convenient. Property is new and clean, great value for money.

The hotel is in an excellent location, 5 min away from the nearest subway station and within walking distance to the busiest area with shops and restaurants, yet it’s on a quiet street away from the buzz. The staff are really welcoming and professional. You can leave your bags if you arrive too early before the check-in or have to leave later after the check-out. Oh, and the breakfast is truly delicious! Freshly made onigiri, accompanied by a few traditional options and some European ones were a fantastic start of the day - highly recommend!

The room was generally quite clean but some dust on the surfaces and in the corners did make it a little less enjoyable.

The location of the hotel was perfect for us, close the bus stops and the shopping street. There are many restaurants and coffee shops near by the hotel. The hotel staff is very helpful and respectful. They let us leave the luggage at the reception on the first day, when we arrived, before our check in, and then again on the last day, after check out. We booked an option with the breakfast, it was nice, if you don’t expect too much. The Japanese section included the freshly made onigiri, miso soup, tofu, steamed fish or chicken and few other items. The western section had eggs, pancakes and croissants, that’s pretty much it. They also used the disposable plates and cups at the breakfast, which seems wasteful. The room was small, however, it is normal for Japanese standards. We had to move the furniture to be able to place two suitcases. The hygiene and cleanliness are very good, they offered two types of cleaning, so you can choose the full cleaning or just removal of trash from your room. There are washing machines also available in the hallway. Overall it was a very pleasant experience, we would book again.

The price was on the higher side, however, probably, because we went during the peak tourist season. The size of the room and the breakfast could be better, but the rest was great.

It is the second RIHGA Place hotel we stayed in for our trip. Compared to the last one, this one in Kyoto is even more central in location (hidden right inside Shijo-Karasuma), with only a few steps away from all the pubs and cafes. Plenty of choices when it comes to dining. The room is clean, standard in size for RIHGA Place The staff is very nice and helpful.

There was some pavement repair work for one of the nights we stayed, so there was a bit noise yet for that night only. The neighbourhood can get crowded when it comes to festival (Matsuri) days, so bear that in mind when you come during festive seasons.

Loved the comfortable bed, attractive lobby, Japanese breakfast. Very pleasant!

Pack a book light! There was no way to read in bed without turning on the ceiling lights. The lighting on the wall over the bed didn't shine on the pillows. Not a problem if you're not a reader, but difficult if you are. This was a double room. Also, the location was safe and central but a couple blocks from Shijo and Karasuma. (Picky!)

The location is great, the place is well equipped and very stylish.

You can only use the TV if you pay extra. I don't have a problem with that, but I think it should be clearly advertised as such before booking. When we requested an extra night the evening-shift staff wasn't able to help us much, we had to wait until the day to complete the new booking with other staff. No water is provided throughout the stay.

Loved the location, neighborhood was very quite but at the same time it took only 5 min walk to a street with lots of entertainment locations, shops, restaurants and most importantly an easy access to Kyoto station, trains going to Nara and Osaka! Family Mart in 1 min walk, coin laundry on the 3rd floor of the hotel, free eye in the hall and a vending machine with drinks available 24/7. Refrigerator and safe box in room.

Room cleaning takes around 5-6 hours, there is still some dirt and dust left after the cleaning is done on the carpet, in the corners and near the window but I didn’t care much considering the price and the fact that bed and bathroom were always clean and I used mostly them.

The hotel’s location is great, it’s very close to a metro station, two stops away from Kyoto station and a walking distance from places like Pontocho alley. Its is very modern and clean, with a big TV on the room. Room size was good.

The breakfast was terrible. They have a menu based on rice and have nothing else. No western options available, not even some fruit or yogurt, just onigiris, rice bread, rice porridge, some chicken and fish…it was very heavy, specially for 4 days straight having the same.

Righa Place Kyoto Hotel was nice and clean. Room was a bit small but clean. The staff at the reception are welcoming. The location is not really close to train station.. approx 10-12 minutes walk.. it's in a quiet street. Not many restaurants options round the corner either..There's a small restaurant at the hotel itself but not many options as menu. The hotel offers 'baggage transfer' to other hotels in Japan (if you intent to move around in Japan) but make sure you insist as we were told that they don't offer the service the first time we enquired at reception. (Fee apply).
