The bus stop for skiing are 4mins walk away. The grocery are also 4mins walk away, just opposite the bus stop. The restaurants are about 5mins to 10 mins walk. Suggest to walk to all restaurant to reserve on your first day there. The bath are shared but we usually lock the bath room when we shower, so there is no one showering next to you. This is possible as the place is not big. Sometimes, there is a short queue at the shower. A guys shared toilet on the second floor. A ladies shared toilet on the first floor. A single mix toilet on the first floor. All rooms are on the second floor. There is a room for putting the skis, boots, helmet and gloves at the basement. The owner will heat up this room and all these ski equipment will dry up for next day skiing. A fridge, mini oven and microwave oven on the next basement room. Mineral water is provided foc. The owner pick us up from the bus stop and sent us out on the last day. We sent our luggage to this pension from the airport and sent the luggage to the airport when we left. The futon bed is very comfy. Towel is provided. Nice place to relax on the first floor.

The bed is a bit hard. Room is a bit cold as the place is slightly dated.

Amazing little bnb right by echoland. A beautiful couple runs this and they were incredibly helpful and welcoming. The bath was so good after a busy day. And reading by the fire was a dream. We really loved our stay!

If you are tall, most doorways are short, so be mindful. The beds are quite firm, and we found sleeping on the futons more comfortable than the beds. There is also only one women's shower and one men's shower for all guests staying, so sometimes there was a little wait.

Great value in the Hakuba area. Super helpful and friendly staff. Access to convenient shuttle bus services for skiers.

Overall we felt like Hakuba was struggling with the number of visitors and that meant that the location put us too far away from places we could eat without a long walk or a taxi ride. Waiting times at restaurants were very long, unless you booked, but then you have to know what's available to book - this has nothing to do with the Marionette except location. Rooms are smallish but that doesn't matter if you're just crashing there after skiing etc. Beds were a little on the saggy side, which might affect some people. Still excellent value for money though.

Matsuda was great. We loved how he set the place up, he had a lot of European nick knacks that fit well to the homey feel of his place. My son and I slept on the futons instead of the beds and we both slept really well. It was nice coming back here after a day snowboarding, it felt very homey. I loved the fireplace and the wooden tables in the main shared room. One thing I did need was a white noise machine, but I need those everywhere. We go to sleep early, so it’s mostly us. Once everyone is settled in their rooms, it was really quiet at night and through the morning.I slept really well at Pension Marionette.

I think the interior, like the wallpaper, would feel outdated to some people. But I actually really liked the interior. It did not feel sterile to me like a corporate hotel. It felt like some old personality to it. One thing that could have been great was some kind of breakfast. I would have loved to have had food available in the morning.

Service was kind and lovely. Accommodation is standard for a snow accommodations in Japan. Central location in echoland. The rooms are an older style with old fashion curtains and tiny TV etc but you're unlikely to be in the room much anyway. There is plenty of heating and warmth. Bathrooms and toilets are separated and shared. There is a small downstairs microwave, grill oven and small fridge. There are dining tables and chairs to eat at. Hakuba base camp (shuttle bus point) is only 3-4 mins away. There is a local convenience store that sells pre made meals, instant noodles and drinks etc (not as good as Lawsons though) and do not fear there is about 100 ski rental places around in walking distance. Overall, it's a great convenient accommodation with friendly service at a reasonable price.

It would have been good to have a stove top to cook some eggs in the morning, perhaps a second microwave as it is busy when a group wants to use it. Sound definitely travels and can be disruptive with night owls.

Very friendly owner came to pick me up at Happo Bus Station and dropped me off at departure with no charge. Room has a wooden loft that’s where I slept I also liked the “classic “wallpaper! Lounge with plenty of space and big Japanese style bathroom with hot tub

Sometimes youth parties in the nearby rooms until AM. A bit noisy but hey who didn’t do the same back in time?

There's separated room for wet equipment to dry and storage. Central sharing space give a relaxing vibe and nice for just sitting, playing board game, or simply having a tea. Also, the host is super friendly which make everything very very homey.

While the location is great for evening (pub, restaurant), it is fairly far from any ski resort and would require a fairly limited bus to access, which usually gets very crowded.

Really nice staff, amazing rooms, beautiful Japanese style loft gives a lot of space. The decoration was so lovely, I felt very at home. It was super warm and had a cozy dry room for all our ski gear.

Walls were not very sound proof - could hear woman next to us coughing all night.

Good location very close to restaurants and snow shuttle bus. Loved the onset bath that I used ever night after skiing. Provided communal tea, fridge, toaster and microwave. Friendly host Very nice dining, living room area.

Only one shower room for each sex so could take a while for a shower in the morning. Loft room could do with some shelves and more hooks as limited floor space to place luggage. The website mentioned breakfast, if booked in by 6pm, but no breakfast option available but maybe due to Covid.

Great location, 100m from main bus pickups. Large rooms. Heating in rooms (and common areas) worked great. Onsen was nice and hot!

Washing facilities would have been nice.
