The Pax hotel staff were really welcoming. I think they’re mostly students. I was worried it would be really noisy but they gave us a quiet room, and although there is a bar downstairs they are really considerate and empty the bar when it gets late. They do a really nice banh mi, which makes a great breakfast and prices are really good. Hiro welcomed us, and he was really nice showed us around. The hostel was smack in the centre of one of the best parts of Osaka, with loads of food restaurants and places to go at night. The hostel had a really nice vibe to it, and I was really sad to go, because we didn’t get enough time to see everything.

It was really great, can’t fault it. Maybe they could have cake or something else at the bar to have with coffee in the morning?

Staff and people staying here were awesome, very social, if you're traveling solo and you're not confident in your japanese, you'll find some drinking buddies here Facilities include everything you need, only 2 showers in the building but I never experienced any real waiting time for it, as guests seem considerate all around. Kitchen on the top floor, rooftop drinking/relaxation area Bar area on ground floor has free ice water/tea and always someone to talk to Bunks are big and comfy! No complaints there Awesome place, would gladly stay there again AWESOME COST PERFORMANCE

Only negative I can really give this place is that even with AC on full blast my top bunk in the 10-bed room got a little hot, not enough to disrupt my sleep in any way though

Very homely feel. Common area/kitchen was very well equipped. The dorm was bright and colourful, very cheerful & happy vibes. There is a table (writing, packing) and sufficient space for luggage. big plus because most dorm have separate luggage area or limited space for luggage with the bed, thus taking stuff in/out of luggage was very cumbersome

the furnishing in the common area, mostly wood, gives out a smell (not overly unpleasant). need to lug own luggage up a very narrow fleet of stairs, rather challenging for female traveller with big/heavy luggage

I loved the design and attention to details. Hiro is so nice and will make sure you feel comfortable.

Not a property-specific concern but one of the girls in my room set her alarm for 3 am and when it rang she didn’t get up so it kept beeping until 5 am. Eventually she got up, opened the blinds wide, and made as much noise as humanly possible. Given some people are simply not courteous maybe changing the room door code system to a less noisy one or doing something to soften the dorm door as it closes could be helpful to reduce noise at off hours.

The Pax Hostel has the loveliest of staff! Everyone is so friendly and welcoming and always up for a chat. The hostel is clean and well kept, close to public transport, but off a main road so there is an element of quietness. The hostel has a cafe downstairs so the general public do come in and out, but it adds to the atmosphere. I personally enjoyed exploring this area, and Dontonbori is only 30min walk north. I loved my stay at The Pax Hostel - will come again for sure!

My only critic is that the top bunk is squeaky when you're trying to go up and down - was very aware of my roommates in this situation!

I had a fantastic experience at The Pax Hostel in Osaka. The common area was incredibly inviting, and the rooms featured comfortable beds, ensuring a good night's sleep. Its location was superb, situated right next to Shinsekai, a must-visit tourist spot. Exploring the rest of Osaka from here was effortless; a short walk led to Dotonbori, with Den Den Town en route, making for a fascinating neighborhood stroll. The value for money was excellent, and I wouldn't hesitate to stay at this hostel again if I return to Osaka.

They need to improve the functionality of the lockers since they often get jammed, requiring you to notify the hostel staff for assistance in opening them.

The Hotel's workers are incredible. I interacted with at least 4 of them and they were so kind, helpful, happy and cheerful. We talked in English and they helped me practice my (terrible) Japanese. Thank you all for the wonderful stay. Also, they work very hard. There was always someone cleaning and fixing things. One day the soap dispenser broke, and they fixed it right away. The place is also very well located in the heart of Shinsekai, next to the metro, mall, konbini, etc. Possibility to wash your clothes etc. The coffee shop is lovely and they ALWAYS have good music. How do they do it? And all my roommates had nice vibes. I will definitely stay again at PAX if one day I'll come back to Osaka. Thank you guys.

The only thing I would improve is the ventilation of the rooms. Tip for travelers: open the windows when you leave and turn on the AC at night. But we'll, it is a hostel, these things are normal I guess.

Great hostel with a rustic vibe, nice common area, chill music/record player. Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent location with Shinsekai as your backyard and short walk to two subway stations. 30min walk to Dotonburi. Always clean toilets and shower. Big lockers for suitcases.

There’s not enough showers, only one shared for 10 people. The curtains do let a lot of sunlight in, in the morning, but not really an issue if you have eye mask. Unfortunately, it wasn’t very social during my stay, It’s a small hostel so it tends to be very quiet but that depends on who is staying, although it seems like they do a social event on a sat night.

Right in the middle of Shinsekai sits this homey hostel. The rooms are spacious with air-conditioning and beds are comfortable with privacy curtains. The hotel has a rustic cafe area on the ground floor and a beautiful rooftop area where guests can relax. The owners even organised an okonomiyaki night on the weekend which was such a great vibe to socialise and meet other travellers and locals.

There is no elevator and the staircase can be steep for those with heavy luggage or limited mobility.

Pax is a wonderful hostel (and cafe!) that has great character, good amenities, and very kind and helpful staff. Guests receive a helpful check-in guide with a lock to store small valuables in the bunks. The bathroom and laundry were in good condition. While I did not meet all the staff (it appears there's quite a lot of them for a small hostel!), those who I did meet were so kind and gave some recommendations for a first-timer in Osaka. Regarding the location, you could hardly find a better place to stay, in my opinion. Osaka has a lot of tourist attractions that are spread over the large city, but what makes Ebisuhigashi stand out is the kitschy, walkable street market. Dotonbori is another major tourist attraction that I could walk to, but it is a bit of a hike.

As one might expect in Osaka, the space is quite small and has multiple floors. While they make great use of the small space, guests with large luggage will probably have a hard time using the narrow, steep staircases.
