Loved our stay at Ryokan Sansui - Yumi San was delightful and very helpful even with the language barrier. The Ryokan was clean and warm. The bath was wonderful after a long day skiing. The beds were warm and comfortable. We met lots of interesting fellow guests and had a great time. It wasn't an issue to have a shared bathroom and toilet - sometimes we had to wait a bit but it was not a problem. We appreciated the hot water for tea and coffee and the microwave for heating up our coop/7-11 meals. It was quiet at night and we very much appreciated having our car cleaned of snow and ice in the morning by Yumi San's husband. Thank you!!

Yume and her husband were the most dedicated and caring Ryokan owners we have met. They cleaned our rooms and brought towels daily, turned on our kerosene heaters in the afternoon, so we’d return to a gloriously warm room after skiing, and greet us with a smile in the evening. They cleared our rental cars of snow on a particularly cold, deep morning and gave us 20% off coupons for our Furano ski resort day. They no longer serve meals, but awoke early to ensure a never ending supply of hot water in the upstairs common room. It was convenient to have 7-11 around the corner, and we easily made our breakfast, including coffee at the Ryokan. Left early for 2 amazing backcountry ski days in the Furano area, & a 3rd at Asahidake, with Whiteroom guide Christopher Ebeling (highly recommend him and Whiteroom), and look forward to returning.

Nothing; Sometimes the kerosene heater had a strong odor as it was warming to ignite.

This was the best stay we had in Japan. Small guest house with about 7 rooms and common areas. The rooms were perfect for what we wanted. Loved the communal kitchen area as we chatted to other travelers over breakfast each day. Picked up some great tips to enjoy our journey. Really handy if you have a car as parking is free and plentiful. We didn’t at that stage but the lovely Mamasan dropped us up the hill each morning. She also has 20% discount vouchers on lift pass. Which we thanked the gesture by giving her 500yen. It saved us heaps. Alternatively you can catch bus to the hill. The walk to gondola will take about 20-30mins. Heaps of supermarkets nearby you can stock up on breakfast items etc. Local restaurants are only a short walk and a lot of variety, cheaper and not as likely to be fully booked out each night. When we come back to Furano we will definitely stay here again.

Great location, ~700-800 meters from JR station. Furano town area, so not exactly close to the gondola area but the host literally drives us every morning to the ski rental shop where we rented equipments at and that shop provides us with drop off service to the ski lift every morning and pick us back in the afternoon, so no issue with getting to our skiing everyday. She's a very nice lady who speaks very little English, but nothing Google translate cannot resolve for us. Free drip coffee and matcha, shared bathroom and toilet, but well maintained big supermarket and furano marche 100 meters away

There are quite a bit of dust accumulation on the nooks and crannies of our room, nothing that's super obvious, but if you have allergies, be aware.

This place is in a nice location, close to a lot of restaurants and convenience stores. Perhaps the biggest plus of this place is the lady running it. Does not speak a lot of English but is very kind. She drove me both to the cheese factory and to furano station without me even asking. The room is very comfortable. Even if it gets super cold you're reinforced with multiple layers of blankets and a heat pad (there is a heater in the room as well).

The shower does take a couple minutes for hot water to start flowing. There also is no central heating, so the hotel tends to get quite cold during the evening. Each room is equipped with a space heater.

The hostess is fantastic - she offers to drive you to the ski rental shop, train or bus station, though you need to be precise on your destination as she speaks little English. The rooms are spacious and include everything you might need. There is a very large hot tub to soak in after skiing. The bed is very large and comes with two heavy blankets and an electric blanket so no need for the gas heater while sleeping.

I wish the heater in the room was electric and not gas. There is a common area table where some people like to linger during late hours when all you need is rest for the next ski day.

Very cozy, homey and clean. Loads of little decorations and details in the house, making it cute and convenient to stay. Landlady is so nice and sweet, she’s very helpful and she keeps the house in great order. 2-minute walk to the 7-11, 6-minutes walk to the bus station. Room has everything, fridge, heater, electric blanket, clothes racks. Free tea in the public area and nice onsen in bathroom. Located in the residential area, which is quiet and nice to take a little walk.

Our room was little bit small but it has everything.

We had the absolute best stay here. We stayed in the gorgeous tatami room with garden view (which was snow view since it was snow season). It was on the ground floor, next to the entrance where the host lives. The room had its own fridge, freezer and microwave. The host, an older Japanese woman, was extremely attentive and lovely. She didn't really speak English but was patient with our Google Translate communication. We were the only guests there, and she gave us lifts to the ski resort and even accompanied us to hire ski gear on the way. She will give you a 30% off coupon for your ski lift pass. She even made up our rooms every day as if we were in a 5-star hotel, and turned on the bedroom heater before we returned each night. The guest house is so cosy and comfortable, there are little touches everywhere that show how well looked after this place is. There is even a hot tub to soak in. The location is great, walking distance to multiple great dining options (we loved the local izakaya Fukinotou), a great value ski gear hire shop (Waves) and Furano station. We didn't want to leave and we look forward to staying here next time!

We loved everything! For people who need a lot of privacy and want to be left alone their whole stay, this probably isn't compatible. For us, it was a wonderful and valuable authentic travel experience.

The owner is delightful. She has basic English and everything else we communicated via the translator app on our phones. The location is very close to Furano ski area and a short drive to Asahidake and other ski touring areas. The place is kept very clean and tidy. it feels like a genuine Japanese experience rather than a boring hotel. We will be back.

The owner is very friendly and helpful. The room and the place are clean and comfortable. They have a 'huge' bathtub in the shower room for guest to have a ' private onsen'. When I ask for the places I can visit in Furano by bike (there are free bikes for guests to use), they suggested a few places for me to visit in Furano. The place is like a home for me during my stay at Furano. The lady manager there even fetched me to the train station when I checked out. Definitely will come back to this Ryokan in the future when I visit Furano again.

So far nope.
