We recently stayed at a wonderful hotel in Mombasa, and we couldn’t be more pleased with our experience! From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel incredibly welcome. Their warmth and professionalism stood out, with everyone always ready with a smile and eager to help with any request. The concierge (Laureen), in particular, was very kind and helpful, always ensuring our stay was perfect. The food was another highlight of the stay. Every meal was a delight, with a variety of freshly prepared dishes. Breakfast on the sunny terrace was a fantastic way to start the day, and the cook was happy to prepare eggs in various styles according to your preference. Whether it was lunch or dinner, the flavors were truly exceptional, with a wide variety of options to cater to all tastes. A special thanks to the kind and attentive restaurant staff who consistently went above and beyond to ensure we felt welcomed and satisfied. Their warm smiles and dedication to service added a personal touch that made each dining experience even more enjoyable. They always checked in to ensure we were happy and made sure that every detail, from food to service, was perfect. The rooms were clean and well-maintained, The housekeeping team made sure our room was always in perfect condition, and the staff continuously checked in to ensure we were happy. The hotel also had great amenities, including a beautiful pool where we could relax. The evening DJ set added a fun atmosphere, making it a great place to unwind. Overall, our stay exceeded expectations. With delicious food, top-notch service, and a relaxing ambiance, I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Mombasa. You won’t be disappointed!

all was great

Wonderful staff, very good breakfast and restaurant. The bed and the cushions are very comfortable. The room was good and very clean. Location is very good and quite calm, despite being in the busy big city center, and only 5 to 10 min away in tuck-tuck to all main attractions. Walking in the surrounding streets is safe. If you enjoy a quiet and relaxed room, please ask for it when booking, the reception was very kind with us and we had a perfect quiet room. We would repeat our experience and stay again in this hotel.

The safe in the bedroom is not "safe", because it is not attached to the wall and can be carried from the bedroom without effort. Some times there was not warm water for showering, but the water temperature was supportable.

Exceptional staff. We stayed one night only and were upgraded to a premium suite on a high floor, with great views of the city. The breezy pool deck on the second floor is very nicely designed, surrounded by the two hotel restaurants, the bar and the live music stage. At 10pm while we were the only customers left, the DJ stayed on and went so far as to come and ask for our choice of music. Breakfast was delicious - the best I've had in Kenya, with plenty of options and home-made choices.

We only stayed one night so we haven't seen everything of the hotel, but I can't find anything to complain about. We came back to Mombasa a few days later and got a very nice airbnb flat in the beach area, and it was great but we still regretted not coming back to Hotel Sapphire - I would still recommend it over private homes.

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Sapphire in Mombasa. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful, providing various recommendations to make our stay unforgettable. Thanks to Laureen we had a little private tour with a driver who navigated smaller streets and showed us around. Our room was very quiet and clean. Despite the live music in the hotel during the evening, everything quieted down by 10 PM, ensuring a peaceful night's sleep. The breakfast, included in the price, was comprehensive and catered well to European tastes with fresh fruits, yogurt, and Kenyan dishes. Special thanks to Laureen and Salome for their friendliness and assistance with our specific requests. Overall, a delightful experience.

The property is well maintained and staff are very accomodating and friendly. Breakfast has a large variety of foods and pool deck is nice.

Security are “overly friendly” and appear to be toting for tips. Felt like running the gauntlet every time we exited and entered the hotel. We did tip. Well meaning but somewhat transparent and quite annoying. They would be better served taking a less in your face approach. I suggest just asking guests if they require assistance. The hot water was very hit and miss (pretty much luke warm the whole time we were there.) whilst breakfast was good it was very overpriced.

One of the best hotels not only in Mombasa but in the al Kenya with the best staff ever.!!!!!!!! From the reception to the restaurant and to the front door everyone is there to help you and make your stay smooth and pleasant. Yvonne was the first person we met and she offered us a free upgrade to our room and she also did her best and achieved to let us stay in the room until 2.00 o'clock although checking out time is 10.30. All the staff in the restaurant is excellent, polite and friendly. Everything is sparkling clean and comfy. There is a very good restaurant and a great bar next to the pool and thd food is quite good. Thank you very much guys for helping us with all our issues. We had a great time because of you and we are looking forward to see you again.

Nothing everything was perfect

Best service across Kenya. Super friendly and kind personnel, they are solution oriented and always smiling. Location was great, it is walking distance to historical town (25 min). The room was clean. The furniture was older than it looked liked on the photos.

Very loud music during dinner time, feels like a party where no one is dancing. I had to ask the lobby for earplugs because the Dj played till later in the evening, and the music was so loud that it felt like the party was in my room. The kitchen services is a bit slow. But food was good and clean.

Great location, not too far from anything in Mombasa. The room I was in was really nice, rarely do you find such large sized rooms in hotels - it basically had a lounge and ensuite bedroom. Food was excellent and I think the biggest positive about this place is the staff - all are extremely friendly and always willing to help - I felt really welcome. Highly recommend staying here.

The only small thing i consider a negative is that on some occasions there was some construction noise coming from inside the hotel, not a big deal though.

While not near Old Town Mombasa, the hotel is centrally located and provides a good view of the city from the rooms' balconies. The restaurant offers inexpensive but decent meals for dinner, and an excellent buffet for breakfast. Both the restaurant and pool are on the second floor. Checkin/out was smooth and the staff was extremely professional. They offer a luxury, 6-8 seat bus to the train station or airport for a reasonable price, complete with massaging chairs and sound system. The water was hot and the pressure was good. The room's airconditioner was a rarity in Kenya.

The fried fish dinner took about 40 minutes to bring to the table and the servers didn't stop by much until I stood up. The WiFi didn't reach into the room much so had to keep the phone and laptop close to the door. One of the elevators was out of service and got a little crowded and slow at times. There was a loud beeping coming from the hallway; fortunately the airconditioner and portable fan I brought drowned out the noise.

Excellent staff who bent over backwards to make everything right. Ride from the airport was quite chaotic with traffic and the driver didn't want the aircon on as it used petrol. Not a hotel employee but was organized by the hotel. Hotel apologized. First night room was noisy as hotel is next door to a Mosque and we were right beside the lift, so we got upgraded for the next night. So so much better. Hotel then gave us complimentary upgraded trip (flas van).back to the airport. They couldn't do enough to try to make everything perfect. Room service food was also very good.

After the upgrade, everything was great.
