Would 100% come back and stay here next time we're in Oaxaca! Conveniently located right across the street from the grocery store and only 15-20 minute walk (which was flat and beautiful) in to the center of town. The breakfasts were absolutely incredible-- fresh fruit with honey and granola and local pastries to start, then a selection of 2 rotating breakfast options-- all were fabulous-- with coffee and orange juice. Room was a little small but perfect for us-- the bathroom was spacious. Staff were AMAZING-- so helpful and accommodating.

The water took a while to heat up in the shower, but that's no big deal!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Ayook Hotel in Oaxaca, and I must say it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. This glowing review is a testament to the outstanding customer service, delightful breakfast, and captivating design that made my stay truly memorable. The front desk staff, Emmanuel and Eduardo, were the BEST. From the moment we arrived, they greeted us with warm smiles and went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. They patiently answered all of our questions, provided invaluable local recommendations, and even assisted us with making arrangements for our daily excursions. Emmanuel and Eduardo's dedication to exceptional customer service truly exceeded my expectations and made us feel welcomed and valued throughout our stay.

The hotel is located on a busy street but upon entering the door, you are transported into an oasis of calm. The aesthetic of the hotel is lovely with natural and earthy tones. We enjoyed the terrace upstairs with the hammocks to relax in and there is an area where you can help yourself to tea/coffee if you would like. Breakfast was a highlight of our stay, with a curated menu each day with two options with the opportunity to eat local food, but there is also the option of having yogurt and granola instead, along with all the fruit, tea/coffee, orange juice and pastries. When we had to leave early for a tour one day, they prepared a packed breakfast for us to start our day. The room was small but comfortable with air-conditioning which was appreciated as it was very hot during our stay. They provided drinking water in our room every day and were able to ask for more when we ran out. The hotel is located about a 10 minute walk from the centre down one main road, so it was very easy to navigate there. It is close to the square with the nieves (Oaxacan ice creams), so a nice treat to have on the walk back each night. We had a great stay and didn't want to leave!

The bathroom design is in stark constrast the the rest of the room and hotel with it's red and white colouring, but was fine. The shower could do with an upgrade, as it took 5 minutes for the hot water to come on and the pressure was not the greatest. There are seperate taps for hot and cold, so some care with balancing between the two was needed.

The breakfasts at this hotel are outstanding, offering a great start to the day. The facilities are spotless, and the hotel itself is beautifully maintained. With air conditioning and a smart TV in the room. On top of that, the staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, making the stay even more enjoyable.

The location wasn’t our favorite. It’s important to note that the hotel isn’t exactly in the tourist area, so the surroundings can feel a bit quiet at night. Also, the bed was a bit small.

This property had the most beautiful ambiance of anywhere I have stayed, it really is a little haven in a beautiful town. They have a terrace overlooking a small park over the road that sometimes has people dancing or playing music. There is a small area upstairs where you can have a tea or a coffee, for me being able to get some hot water when needed without asking made it even nicer. The location is just off the centre so it’s a bit quieter, is close to catching the buses to Monte Albán, and there is a supermarket close by. A brilliant location. The staff were very friendly and helpful with anything you needed.

Absolutely nothing

The hotel looks exactly like on the pictures, very nice and comfy. It is a bit far from the city centre but we didn't mind walking. The breakfast was very nice and authentic. Hotel also offers taxis to some attractions for a quite reasonable price, we didn't try it though. We enjoyed the AC in our room and also Netflix account was a pleasant surprise. There is a very nice terrace with hammocks and tables. We saw a hummingbird there on a tree.

We were a bit disappointed when we entered the room, I expected the room and the bed to be bigger. We were also lacking windows and natural light. Rooms also aren't soundproof, so the staff asks to be quiet in the hotel. I was a bit paranoid about plates and mugs , that are used at breakfast, not being glased or polished well enough. They looked nice and very authentic, but I think bacterias could live in the pores of clay.

Staff were incredible, huge shout out to Emmanuel - their amazing general manager - who went above and beyond to help with all of our queries! No ask was too big or too small. Breakfast was delicious and filling and can be served right outside your room! (or on the terrace if you so wish) The hotel is a treat to the senses - it was visually stunning (the decor is impressive in the pictures but honestly, even more so in real life!) and it just smelled wonderful - you can tell they really care about how staying there makes guests feel. The facilities in our room and the communal areas were fantastic and exceeded our expectations. Wi-Fi was super fast, and our room had its own Netflix account which I thought was a fantastic touch as most hotel rooms have tv’s these days, but you usually have to log in with your own account. I honestly can’t fault this place, it’s perfect and I would definitely stay again and will recommend to friends and family too!

Only thing I didn’t like was that we only stayed one night!!!! 😭😂 We would have liked to stay longer!

Overall, loved AYOOK, great establishment, the breakfast tables are all around the central courtyard, which means you can actually talk to other guests each morning (or go sit on the lovely rooftop). Was nice to meet other people staying here. The rooms can be small, not a ton of frills, but it's a very sweet establishment (extremely well decorated), and not at all a far walk over to the main plaza.

The property is exactly how it looks in the pictures which is gorgeous! had a nice large room, with a beautiful window as well. The roof top hammocks were such a treat! It was surprisingly quiet for being off a semi busy road. The hotel is serene and lovely and there are tables in front of each room where you have your breakfast. Breakfast was pretty decent, Chilaquiles or tamale on Sunday, bread (okay), fruit, juice and coffee. It is not in the heart of Oaxaca tourist area but it is probably just a block out. didn’t mind that at all because we got to see the neighbour hood slightly change. We also utilized the public bus to head to Tlacolula market and the hotel was closer to the bus station than others.

Honestly loved it and would recommend to others and would stay again. If you want to be in the very heart of Oaxaca on a cuter street, perhaps stay elsewhere because this is off a Main Street. The whole hotel feels tucked away and hidden behind the gates so this didn’t bother me.

Entering the building was a welcomed surprise. It looks exactly like the pictures! A nice scent fills your senses and you just feel calm right away despite being right next to the road. Checking in was a breeze. Emmanuel helped us and always had a big smile. The room also looks exactly like the pictures. It big enough for me and my husband to do bodyweight exercises on each side of the bed. Bottled water provided daily. The AC was a ran perfectly. We The television was big and the room had its own Netflix account, we didn't need to enter our information. It was nice to just hang out in the room and let the heat pass. It felt like home. The bed was comfortable and the sheets and pillows were super clean. The cafe de olla is delicious! The staff was always smiling and ready to help with whatever you need. For the value, staying here is a no brainer! Would definitely stay here again.

The bathroom was a little small, but clean enough. I feel like just a little bleach on the corner grout would've been perfect. The location is about a 10 minute walk from the city center. Walking back and forth usually isn't an issue, but with the heat, it can be a very minor hiccup.
