Vintage, atmospheric hotel perfectly located overlooking Tangier harbor at the edge of the Medina in a very lively neighborhood of shops, restaurants and cafes. Views from my balcony were spectacular, sights in the Medina were a short stroll away, and there was a beautiful pool in the landscaped garden. Rooms and public areas are clean, comfortable, and charming. WiFi was strong in the room and at the pool. The hotel offers great value.

The hotel is in need of a thorough freshening including updating details…painting, lighting, repairs etc. to regain its former glory. Services are adequate but not polished.

El Minzah Hotel was the perfect place to stay for me as someone who was visiting Morocco for the first time! My partner, who came along with me, and I actually got a free upgrade to the suite room (the view from there was lovely!), which made the overall experience even better. 1. Great location - El Minzah was so close to places that we wanted to see, which were all in a short walking distance: Grand Socco, Tangier Medina, Saveur de Poisson, Gran Cafe de Paris, El Dorado, etc. 2. 24/7 guest service - if you needed something, there’s always someone at the reception desk. We checked out at 5am and there was someone looking out for our airport taxi. Also, the hotel staff was multilingual, friendly, and approachable and should you have any requests, someone is usually there to help you. (We did have a lock issue, where our lock wouldn’t allow two key cards - one for me and one for my partner - to unlock the same door of our original suite but the hotel staff transferred us to another suite that allowed us to use two key cards - the technician there was nice and helpful as well!) The security guards were also nice and attentive, usually directing me to my rideshare or tour guide when they’re in front of the hotel. 3. Free breakfast! We were there every morning, and it was a great way to start off a busy day of traveling, especially if you’re on a budget. I’m also a fan of their buffet-style breakfast - having variety makes continental breakfast a more enjoyable no-cost eating experience. 4. Amenities - we enjoyed the TVs, snacks, and hot shower in our room. The restaurants at El Minzah were convenient to have when we were too tired to leave the hotel to eat (I got to try their wine bar one night and a glass of Chardonnay only cost 60 MRD/6 USD). There were also other amenities that we did not take advantage of but wished we could’ve tried them if we had more time (such as the spa, pool, and gym).

Important to note: if you are looking to modify your booking online in English (for example, adding another guest to your room after having booked a room with El Minzah), I highly recommend reaching out directly to Booking.com customer service team instead of El Minzah’s staff since I found that the language barrier made it challenging to get the pricing information I needed to make the modification. Booking.com customer service was super with helping me on getting the pricing info and modifying the reservation. Their turnaround service was quick, which meant that the El Minzah Hotel team got back to Booking.com customer service quickly as well.

The staff was exceptional. They were more than helpful to a senior solo tourist. From my fist morning when I over slept and they still gave me breakfast to the fact that when I discovered that I had made flight reservations out of Casablanca and not Rabat, they arranged an early morning taxi for me. Morocco can be confusing to first time American tourist, but they made me feel at home.

This is just a general criticism that applies to all of my foreign trips. The rest of the world has readily adopted McDonalds, Burger King, Starbucks and KFC. But for some reason the rest of the world has rejected our greatest contribution and that is the simple wash cloth.

This is a great hotel! Food, location, cleanliness was exceptional. It's one of those places that you're just happy to stay in all day without a need to go out. The garden, pool, room service, reception, all amazing. But most of all it was the staff and the building itself that made our stay memorable and great. It's a hotel with great architecture and excellent "old soul". It's nothing like the newly designed, standard hotels that look all the same. There are many areas within the hotel to sit down, relax and be completely undisturbed, and this was our favourite thing about it. Staff are brilliant and happy to help, they check in on you and make sure you have all you need in a non intrusive, professional manner. We'll be back.

WiFi in some areas could be improved, such as the far end of the hotel but it worked no problem in all main areas such as the pool, garden, lobby, restaurant and the room.

It was amazing! Visiting old world with modern comforts. The room was spacious with beautiful old style decor, wonderful views of the ocean with very spacious balcony. Incredible history with famous guests ranging from politicians like Churchill to princes and movie stars. Great breakfast, facilities and service . The location is perfect in the heart of old town.

Very hard to fault it was outstanding the only things that could be improved is for breakfast to have more western options and use if inside pool is a bit difficult with finding change rooms and towels. But very enjoyable once you overcome this hitch.

A beauitful old colonial hotel with lots of style and glamour. The swimming pool is a good size and set in nice gardens. You also have the added bonus of an indoor pool and spa facilities. There are good choices of places to relax and eat and the staff are helpful and polite. The hotel is near the port and also the souk. Would def recommend to stay.

The breakfast was ok but not terribly exciting and coffee could have been hotter. Had to wait for staff to bring food menus etc when ordering food.

An absolutely wonderful hotel. It harkens back to the golden age of movie stars and diplomats. The rooms are very well appointed, and the grounds are well kept, including the cafe bar which allows you to dine by the pool under the stars, live music, good food and quiet rooms. But by FAR the hotel excels in service. From the front desk, to the wait staff and the porter, even the security guards are incredibly friendly, warm, genuine and helpful. It's likely a reflection of the Moroccan and indeed the Tangier people. I would stay there again without hesitation.

Step outside and your are a few yards from the famed Grand Cafe de Paris, the French consulate, and the souk (market). Whie the former is GOOD, this roadway IS busy at night with the comings and goings of the local folks, so those not accustomed may feel a bit wary.

The property is stunning - a beautifully maintained historical building, all of the spaces were lovely - courtyard, pool area, bar and restaurant... The breakfast room is light filled and has a great sunrise view from the terrace. Breakfast options were extensive and you could order other dishes from the kitchen also. Location is great - accessible by taxi and a very short walk to the medina (definitely recommend a guide though). There is an ATM inside the hotel which is very convenient if you prefer not to get cash out on the street however the exchange rate is not great - better to use an ATM inside a post office or bank.

Air conditioning stopped working however this was fixed after a few hours of informing staff. Reception staff were not very attentive and mixed up our tour guide. We advised the receptionist that we had booked our own and were told that the guide had gotten in touch with the hotel. We were then introduced to a guide who was not the person we had hired. While I would hope this was human error, I cannot be sure. Luckily, the guide we received was absolutely wonderful, so this did not impact our stay negatively.

This is a fabulous building, a wonderful colonial style hotel with great lounge areas and lots of different places to relax. Staff were amazingly helpful in solving a problem we had (problem not related to this hotel). It’s a very relaxing hotel and the views from our balcony were magnificent. Comfortable bar with piano music - nice touch - and excellent food in the two restaurants. We got a very good deal on price - if you had to pay full price as displayed on the tariff board it would be very expensive!

Some small (ish) things which we wouldn’t normally comment on but in a 5-star should be better: the toilet flush was faulty and the wifi in the room was so poor it was virtually unusable.

It was a well-taken care of, older hotel. The hotel was polished by decades of guests and generations of care. The bathrooms were all new and what needed to be modernized, has been. The hospitality was timeless. People here, cared. Breakfast had wide-variety, dozens of warm breads, fresh msemmen prepared for each guest, cheeses, fresh fruits, eggs by order or from the hot line… sautéed mushrooms, fresh juices… and servers who will get you seconds. And what a location! 5 minutes from entering the stream of humanity that is the souks…. 10 minutes from the stunning views of the kasbah, or relax in/by the pool in the quiet courtyard. Do you think we liked it? This is the only place we will stay in Tangier.

I want to say something, to balance out my positives… they could not provide small DM bills when I needed change? The elevator was slower then desired?
