Staff were excellent. Restaurant had lovely food. 'Pra-Kash', was an excellent waiter. Very professional and receptive (he knew when to converse and when to wait). Rooms were beautifully decorated. I highly recommend the junior Suites. Centrally located. Happy hour drinks and snacks.

No lift . It didn't really bother us as the hotel was exceptional. Apart from Pra-Kash, staff hover around a bit hoping for tips but that seems common practice in India and Nepal, it just felt a little uncomfortable when you are staying as a guest.

Wonderful cosy hotel in the heart of Thamel. You literally in proximity to all the main points of interest, clubs and restaurants and surrounded by thousand shops. The hotel is absolutely cute very well managed and maintained and what is the most important thing - runned by amazing team. All staff is super helpful, friendly and nice. Breakfast in inner garden is lovely, its a-la carte, freshly cooked by order and served on your table. My special thanks to the chef: French toasts and eggs benedic absolutely wonderful. I know that hotel also have yoga classes, but i didnt attend. My husband alao enjoyed the fact, that in the evening they showed football on a big screen. The place is full of bliss, tranquility and happiness. If one day we will decide to return back, we definitely would stay in this hotel again.

New property built respecting local style and using local art and textiles. Located in Thamel but just a few meters away from the sometimes chaotic centre, thus making it a quiet place in spite of being round the corner of all the cafes and bars and shops. The staff was incredibly helpful: I had to change my plans a few times and they were willing to accommodate. Good breakfast and room service.

Like most places in Kathmandu, the cafe/restaurant is in an open-air courtyard. Because of the usually cold temperature in this city, early morning breakfast or after sunset dinner can be a bit cold.

Location: The hotel is in a great location and considering that Thamel is very loud, my room (203) was pretty quiet even at 10pm or 11pm when it is really noisy outside. You walk outside and you have plenty selection of restaurants, trekking gear stores, souvenir shops and more. Staff: The staff was amazing, everyone is very, very friendly. While friendliness is a feature of Nepalese people, the hotel staff was always going the extra mile. They helped me shipping extra luggage, they booked tours and made phone calls on my behalf; these were all activities outside of regular hotel responsibilities. Everyone was great but special recognition goes to Admita ,Dharmendra, Anjali and Abhi as these where the staff members that I worked with closer during my 6 day stay.

I loved that this quaint little hotel was in the middle of bustling Thamel, but still felt quiet and tucked away. It is filled with beautiful art and ceramics. The service and staff were lovely too. The restaurant had many options and the food tasted fresh and delicious.

My room was a steep six floors away, and the building has no lifts. My room did not have a full length mirror.

I had a wonderful stay at Dalai- la hotel the location is excellent, making it easy to explore the area. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, which added to the overall positive experience. The breakfast was very good, offering a nice variety to choose from. The hotel room was quite comfortable, providing a great night's sleep. Overall, I highly recommend

An excellent boutique option in Thamel. We were upgraded to a suite which was huge and modern with local paintings on the walls and very large beds. The breakfast allows 'courses' and not just options, while the one dinner we had was high quality. The inner courtyard offers a nice retreat from the bustle of Thamel just outside

A little noise heard from the street which our room looked onto, despite the good double glazing - but that is just the excessive use of the horn by all drivers.

so pleasant looking ppty, big rooms, great baths.. the staff was excellent so was the food the gym was small yet super functional esp if you wanna use free weights..

treadmill etc. didnt work bathroom flush wasnt wokring properly and had to call maintenance couple of times, even then it was a hassle too noisy till very late in the night (3 am even).. from the roads nearby ... due to partying etc. Can be disruptive with sleep esp if you are a light sleeper

Breakfast recommendation On our first morning, unsure what to order off the breakfast menu, our waiter recommended the tofu scramble with spinach due to us wanting to remain vegetarian for a trip to the Pashupatinath Temple. The tofu scramble with spinach was amazing along with the locally prepared Nepali tea. The great thing this hotel offers is the extension of breakfast hours till 12pm to cater to the various activities of the guests. Overall This delightful hotel is centrally located to a number of tourist attractions. It takes approximately 30 mins by car depending on traffic to reach most of the notable destinations. It is situated alongside a bustling road, filled with handicraft and apparel stores as well as good restaurants within walking distance. The hotel's courtyard is serene and peaceful. A great place to have a quiet cup of tea to warm up or enjoy a selection from their menu. The interior décor is extremely beautiful, appears to be aligned with the Tibetan culture and is also filled with beautiful Thangka paintings. For those are who are art lovers, this hotel also holds an in-house art exhibition from time to time. The staff are an asset of this hotel, always going above and beyond to cater to our needs and requests. They do it with such sincerity, grace and cheerfulness. Abhi, Anjali, Shesheer and Rosie – these wonderful people we will never forget. We were always touched by their service spirit and kind gestures. When we were leaving back to home, Rosie came running to our car with 2 beautiful orange Tibetan Khadas in her hands. She sought permission to place it on us and said “Maam, this is for your safe journey back home”. I was truly moved by that gesture. The Dalai La Hotel, its most gracious, exuberant and humble owner who made certain things happen for us and the wonderful staff will always remain special in our hearts. We are filled with nothing but gratitude and definitely look forward to coming back to The Dalai La.

This place is an oasis of serenity right in the heart of bustling Thamel, just a short walk from Durbar Square and a quick taxi ride from the main attractions in town. Large rooms, nice decor, comfortable bedding. Yet the main asset of Dalai-la is its staff, always smiling and willing to go the extra mile to accommodate all our needs. We are particularly thankful to Abhi, who helped us in organising our trip during busy festival times. Excellent value for money, highly recommended.
