newly renovated room, hot running water, comfotable beds and a very clean bathroom. the staff were nice, and helped us with luggage before check-in and after check-out.

no soundproofing, you can hear the screeching floors of the old building and noisy neighbours. €50 is required, as warranty, although no mention of this during the booking. We received it back at check-out, but a heads-up would be nice (cash payment/physical card only).

Amazing central location in the heart of everything, 2 minutes walk from Dam square, Oude Kerk, few steps from De Wallen. The receptionist was lovely and explained us everything, the room was nice and had all that we needed. Be prepared for some traditional Dutch stairs, this is a listed traditional Dutch building so depending on which floor you are you could do some extra cardio exercise. Being so central it could get a bit crowded during the day, but we never had issues at night and it wasn't noisy at all. Highly recommended for a group of friends or couple that don't mind to be few steps away from all the action!

The coffee machine and teas in the reception could be free, a nice trade off for the stairs ;)

Really is in the heart of Amsterdam, brilliant location. We booked a 4-bed room with en-suite that was located on one of the upper floors. We were offered a change or room free of charge into a ground floor 6-bed room with en-suite due to travelling with my mum who can struggle a little with stairs. We were extremely happy and appreciative of this generous and considerate offer. All the staff were super friendly and couldn’t have been more helpful. The room itself was clean, comfortable and the bedding was of good quality. Side note for those that wonder (as I did) the bunk beds are not squeaky in the slightest and I’m no slim Jim so that was a pleasant surprise. I genuinely do not have a bad word to say about the place, would visit again for sure.

I had no issues with the property at all.

Location is unreal, in the Heart of it. It's not a hotel experience, though the staff was helpful, it is an upgraded hostel. I did get the single room 33. The bed sleped very well, shower was for two. Will I take my wife there? No. Will I stay there again when travelling to Amsterdam again. Yes, when on my own or with the lads. When travelling with my wife I'll book us and a proper romantic hotel. Always honour your wife.. :)

Stairs are a good workout. The movement of people up and down, in and out all night, did wake me (could be dew to all the coffee of the night). But what did you expect from a hostel? The second night was much more relaxed, and through all that, I did sleep very well in a comfy bed.

Spacious room, had everything in it we needed, plenty of plugs and lights next to each bed and in a prime location. Our flight home was late so we were allowed to keep our belongings in a locked room until then which was handy, staff were great too.

The narrow stairs, we were close to the top floor and they were a hassle to keep going up and down, one of the ceilings halfway down is low so had to duck to get down It's very loud at night, which is as expected for this area, we expected it so it wasn't the end of the world, i slept through most of it!

The rooms were very clean and well maintained, bathroom a little narrow but really modern and everything you could need in the room (no tea or coffee but there is a machine in reception to buy it). It’s right in the centre of the red light district on the Main Street so location is great (for adults 😂) staff were really friendly and helpful. Anything extra we wanted or needed they helped us no questions asked. For a hostel it’s really nicely decorated. Overall I would recommend.

the windows are thin and you can hear the floor above you SO much it sounded like they were shifting a wardrobe 😂, so I’d advise ear plugs at night as it’s extremely loud (ear plugs sold in reception). But once the ear plugs were in a slept all night absolutely fine. The stairs are very steep and there’s no lift so it’s not disabled friendly.

We (me and my sister) stayed in the 12-Bed Mixed Dormitory and both enjoyed our stay. It was good value for money and the staff member on duty was friendly. The booking included a towel and access to a locker (with key included), which was great. There was plenty of space within the room (we weren't all cramped next to each other) so it felt like we all had our own space. There were two private toilets in the room, both with showers. There was also a room with two sinks in, which was useful. The beds were comfy and the pillows were good. Two plugs next to my bottom bunk bed, which was perfect. A light by the bed too. The lockers next to the beds created some very welcomed privacy, they also doubled up as a shelving unit next to the bed too. This worked really well. We had to check-in after midnight, which wasn't a problem (24/7 reception). I let them know in advance via Booking.com messages, and they responded quickly. The ho(s)tel is situated in the middle of the red light district, very central location, and easy to find.

I don't think there was a kitchen available, not one I could see and when I asked to re-fill my water bottle the friendly staff member suggested I fill it up with him at the front desk (there was a small sink near the front desk for staff use). Although there were lockers they weren't that large (quite narrow), so I couldn't fit my large backpack inside. If I were to take everything out of my backpack and then store my items in the locker, that would have worked. But I decided not to use it and just sleep with my backpack next to me (shelf next to my bed). Which worked fine for me as I was only staying 1 day and needed to take all my stuff with me anyway.

Cheap, close to most activities, room was bigger than expected and had wifi, towels, bed linen, shampoo and hairdryer. We had a bathroom in our room with shower!

Extremely steep staircase (but very typical Amsterdam and something to be expected almost everywhere). They were renovating the reception area, however they did not start early in the mornings so it did not affect us much. At night it was loud, from the streets and from other guests, however it was managable.. bring earplugs! Wish there was an AC in the room - noise would have been less if we could sleep with the windows closed but it was just too hot in June. Getting über/bolt to this area is hard because of the small streets and canals so don’t bring too many suitcases - you will have to drag them around.

The lady recpectionist, are very helpful. Travelled from Australia and read all the good reviews. I came in much earlier, and the lady stored my bag while I toured Amsterdam during the day. The place was very clean, The beds were comfortable. The showers were newly renovated as will as the toilets. You had complete privacy in the modern bathroom with a huge twin basin. Lockers were provided and solid. The sercuity at night was good been in the middle of the red light district. . They acknowledged everyone that came in. A place I would thoroughly recommend, and the next time, I will be back here at Heart of Amsterdam. There are no challenges or any improvement required.

There wasn't any did not like.

The location in the heart of red light district was for us a little surprise and perhaps we would have chosen something different. But it was an interesting experience for sure! Expect the crowds roaming the lively streets and a lot of noise. The hotel is situated in a charming old house by the canal. During our stay it was under renovation. The rooms were already done and especially the bathrooms were great! The breakfast was good, worth the prize. The staff was friendly. We were able to change the room during our stay (because of noise in the downstairs corridor).

There are a lot of fairly steep stairs, if your room is upstairs and even to the breakfast room in the basement. Part of the charm of an old house! If you are easily disturbed by noise, perhaps better to choose something else. Downstairs corridor was noisy at night.
