A great experience! Very good and new hotel with very nice lobby with free fruits, water and soda. Great place to sit and relax. Very comfortable and clean rooms. Amazing, welcoming and fiendly staff. There is even a very nice bakery next door. Highly recommend.

The only issue is location... about 25 minute walk from the center. We did not mind. You can take the metro that is 1 minute walk from the hotel.

The hotel has a metro station nearby with good connections to the city center, the central station and the airport. Our room was quiet and had a very big and comfortable double bed. In the morning up to 11 am we were welcomed by a very tasty breakfast with all our favourites including freshly squeezed orange juice. So the major checkboxes for a pleasant city trip are ticked: Good Location, sleeping well and getting energy to explore.

The room has all the smart features (colorfull dimmable lights, shades, climate control) which are managed with a small tablet in the room . However, the wake-up time of this device is rather slow, so simply switching on the bathroom light during the night can be quite an action. Since the bed is surrounded by walls on three sides, it can also be quite a challenge for one sleeper to step over the other to see the bathroom during the night.

Jhonny the person who was working there. He was so friendly that he made our stay so much more comfortable. I never give out 10’s but this one is the first even at genius level 3. Give that man a raise!!

What a great way to start a vacation in Amsterdam. Contactless checkin was so easy. Rooms were so cool. Grab the iPad to lower and raise the blackout curtains, watch tv, add mood music to the room. You can even change the color of the lights in the bathroom. Lilac, teal or "red light district" red. You know you want to play with all the options. The XL king size bed was so comfy. Slip under the Egyptian cotton sheets to help fight off jet lag for a great nights rest. Thirsty? Grab a complimentary glass bottle filled with cold water. Hungry? Fresh fruit is available in the lobby. Love the juicy pears and the donut peaches. Location is so convenient. Close to the Amstel Hotel, the canals, shops, restaurants and museums. Metro is just down the street. LOVE the eclectic artwork scattered throughout the property. Would definitely stay at the CitizenM Amstel Hotel again. Wish that we would have stayed for more than one night.

That we didn't stay there more than one night

The room was a bit small, but it was more than sufficient for my two-day stay. The windows were large, allowing plenty of light to come into the room. I loved how everything in the room was digitalized, and that the lighting colors could be changed (not a must, of course, but cool). The bed and the pillows were incredibly comfortable. There was also a safe in the room, which is convenient. The design of the hotel entrance and the lobby was amazing. Breakfast had a limited selection, but everything was delicious, which I prefer over having many mediocre options. The cocktails and coffee at the bar were excellent. The location is convenient, not in the very heart of the city, but within easy walking distance. Reaching the hotel from the airport was also quite simple via public transport. What I truly appreciated was the staff; everyone I encountered was extremely kind and sincere. I will definitely choose to stay here again if I visit Amsterdam.

It was compact but very functional. The king bed and fluffy pillows were so luxurious. Drinks refrigerator is a plus. The bathroom was surprisingly big. Coffee downstairs in the morning. The location couldn’t be better, a 53 or 54 M from central station right to the hotel (take lift go towards tram, turn right 100 feet) tram right in front. Relatively close to a self serve laundry, bakery and several great restaurants. A convenience store is on the corner. Price/quality is high. Gym close by. Good safe neighborhood.

Laundry facilities are self serve off site. Breakfast is too big, too expensive. No continental option. No luggage rack in room. A bit inconvenient.

The Citizen hotel went beyond expectations, ranging from a personable and helpful staff to a terrific bar and restaurant. The rooms, though small, offered very comfortable beds and a unique digital system to take care of everything from arranging the shades to the room temperature. Although it offered no room service, it did provide take away meals plus a 24-hour snack and beverage area. The atmosphere gave off a very modern and comfortable vibe , including some unusual art objects. Can service is readily available with a phone call and the tram service is at the front door to take you to the interesting commercial and museum areas.

If you are a bit on the older side, the square bed, flush to the walls, was a bit hard to get out of, especially in the middle of the night.

The location of the hotel was great. The tram was right in front of the hotel. The breakfast was very good and good choices of food. We really liked how modern and well it was decorated. The only reason why we would not consider staying at another Citizen hotel (we also stayed at Citizen in Rotterdam) is because of the bed configuration where there is no space on either side for us to get in or out of the bed. We are +70 people and we had a very hard time getting in and out of bed. We have arthritis and difficult moving our limbs. I also feel sorry for who ever has to make the bed. It is not real easy to change the sheets.

This place is a gem! I reserved 3 rooms for friends and family over a very busy weekend in Amsterdam. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. The breakfast was delicious (fruit, eggs, potatoes, mushrooms, bread and cheeses), amd the cocktails were on point. The environment was hip and fun, filled with books and art, and the rooms had a modern, minimalist tech feel. They use Ipads to control everything in the room...from blinds, to the tv, to mood lighting in the showers. I'm not a big tech person but I was very impressed. Overall, everyone in my party said they'd stay in a citizenM again (one group actually extended their stay they enjoyed it so much). The location near the canals and several restaurants simply could not be better. Loved my stay and would go back in a heart beat.

CitizenMs are designed with minimalism in the rooms, to encourage guests to mingle in the downstairs lobbies and lounges. Love the idea...the only caveat is that there is no coffee in the rooms. That is just one thing many people can't live without. No mingling until after a cup of coffee!

It's a wonderful place to stay in Amsterdam if you need something a bit more calm and away from the busy streets. Modern & clean! The location is perfect! just 6 mins by Metro from Central train station (very easy to use and find underground system) and easy access to any part of Amsterdam. The room is small but with a very well-designed space so actually everything fits well. The bed is huge and so is the the shower, with enough storage to hang clothes and put cases away. We chose a garden-facing room so it was super quiet, and we could sleep well. You can control everything from Ipad, lights change colour. The staff at the hotel were absolutely fantastic! everyone from the front desk to the bar staff. very friendly and helpful.

The bed might be a little too firm I personally love soft bed but it didn't impact our sleep at all.
