The resort is fabulous with great scenic views in the heart of Auckland. The room was huge with nice furniture and balcony to enjoy the lush green rain forest with birds flying around. Mr. Duncan, the GM of the property wowed us checking in very late in night and deliver personally the left over coats demonstrating exceptional customer experience. We had an amazing time there.

Driving in dark at mountain roads and within the property could be a bit overwhelming due to remote location and steep curves.

The size of this beautiful resort set in the middle of the Waitākere ranges away from the business of the city is what caught our eye. We loved hearing all of the wildlife and the breathtaking view from our premier room. The staff are super kind and inviting, very attentive and courteous. The property is well maintained and the massages at Wairua Spa are incredibly relaxing (I was falling asleep lol)

I wish the bar was open later in the weekends. Staying on Saturday we thought the bar would be open until at least 10pm. Other than that I absolutely loved the stay.

Loved the view from our room towards Auckland. Spacious room, gorgeous room Great breakfast and good dinner in restaurant and room service Good bed, good shower, love deep bath. Good price through you, so very happy with value for money. Not too far from Auckland airport.

No cafe or similar during day which we expected from a resort; or suggest - this and/or microwave, toaster and more crockery and cutlery in rooms as lunch service finished at 2pm which was check in time. Knew those items weren’t going to be in room before arrival, but thought there might have been cafe/snack options from the resort during afternoon. Would have liked outdoor spa pools or the swimming pool being heated. Would also have liked more Day Spa appointments to be available so guests have the opportunity to enjoy a treatment while at the accommodation.

Great location high up in the mountain ranges, the road isn't the safest to get there but take your time and it's fine. Great bed and bathroom is nice and modern. Pool, gym, sauna etc were great for a holiday resort. Dinner and breakfast were delicious, and great range of fine dining food options

Breakfast took an hour to arrive, with only a small number of guests in the dining room. We had to ask if it was lost or something was wrong, but was just slow. No air-conditioning in the room which was unpleasant. Apparently fans were avaliable from the front desk but there was nothing stating that anywhere.

We had a booking in the Garden Spa Apartment for a couple. Lovely quaint little accommodation hidden in the Waitakere ranges. The room had everything that we required, including a Spa Bath. Parking was just outside the room. The on-site restaurant's meals were fantastic. I would recommend staying just for the food. The restaurant has amazing views of the city of only short waits for meals to be prepared. All of the servers and staff were amazing. Special thanks to Steven, who made every meal with him feel much more special.

Previous users had used the Spa Bath as some of the bedroom carpet adjacent to the bathroom was slightly damp.

We loved the view. We loved the 2 bedroom apartment that we booked, we had the entire space, 2 huge beds, 2 bathrooms, and a spacious lounge area with plenty of parking allocated to that apartment. We enjoyed the ambience and the breakfast meals we had. I was surprised how good the lamb chops was that I had for dinner. Lovely nice staff.

We booked a second room because there were quite a few of us. I opted for 2 single beds which I appreciate a lot, however, the bed had wheels and everytime I turned the bed moved. Also, we booked our dinner at the restaurant. 3 of us ordered scoth fillet, however, they didn't look the same or didn't have the same items on each order, only 1 looked like it was a full meal, 1 had the steak & 2 mushrooms and the other 1 had steak with just 1 mushroom with very little sauce/gravy. Unsure why there was inconcsistency on the orders that were supposed to be exactly the same.

The room was comfortable and had great views. The food was great.. We enjoyed wandering around outside in the gardens and the spa staff were lovely and professional

The hotel was very short staffed so I felt like we needed to be careful not to bother them too much..it would have been nice to have been able to ask more questions and not feel like we were holding them up..it was labour weekend though so I guess it would have been hard to find staff... The WiFi was a bit up and down and the TV in our room only had Freeview available. It wasn't possible to use any apps like Netflix or cast from our phones. This isn't the end of the world though if you are going away to relax and switch off.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at a hotel where the staff went above and beyond to ensure a comfortable and memorable experience. One particular staff member, Duncan, deserves special recognition for his exceptional assistance. Upon our arrival, we were aware that check-in closed at 9pm. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, we found ourselves running late and feared that we would miss the check-in deadline. However, to our surprise and relief, Duncan woke up from his sleep at midnight just to accommodate us and complete the check-in process. Duncan's willingness to go out of his way and extend the check-in hours is something that I genuinely appreciate. It demonstrated his commitment to customer service and ensuring guest satisfaction. His dedication did not stop there though - after settling us into our room, he took the time to personally inquire if everything was satisfactory with our accommodations. His attention to detail and genuine concern for our well-being left a lasting impression on my stay at this hotel. It is rare to encounter such dedicated individuals who are willing to sacrifice their own comfort for the sake of others' convenience. I cannot stress enough how thankful I am for Duncan's help during our late-night check-in. His level of professionalism combined with his friendly demeanor made us feel welcomed and valued as guests. He truly exemplifies what exceptional customer service should be. I highly commend Duncan for going above and beyond his duties as a hotel staff member. His efforts in accommodating us outside of regular working hours and subsequent follow-up showed his dedication towards ensuring an enjoyable stay for all guests. The hotel is fortunate to have such an outstanding individual on their team, and I cannot recommend him enough.

We had a corner room and the views were absolutely stunning at night and in the morning, we saw all of Auckland City so clearly. It is so far off the road that you don't hear the traffic which is wonderful. The room was lovely, very tidy, beautiful spa bath big enough for two on our romantic getaway. Had all the kitchen bits we needed. Great little lounge area. Large comfy bed with clean linen. We choose the option with the breakfast at their restaurant, this was either a continental or cooked. We had the big breakfast, great choice, a very filling breakfast. All the staff were very helpful and very friendly

Only thing is they need spare blankets in the rooms as it is in the Waitakeres and the night was a little cold (I feel the cold my husband doesn't ha ha, so more for me)

+ 11/10 for the GM Duncan. Our arrival was impacted by the Auckland floods, with ETA that kept changing. Superb communication from Duncan, who also stayed past midnight to eventually check us in, and went out to the streets and gave us detailed road condition information + great staff with good attitude, even though the floods impacted them too + strongly recommend the breakfast package, comes with continental and hot breakfast order + fantastic location in the ranges with beautiful views all round + nice gardens on site and good walking tracks + great facilities (restaurant, lounge, pool, gym, sauna). we stayed on site most of a long weekend + away from the hustle, but there is a lovely restaurant only 5 mins drive away if you wanted variety from the on site restaurant

- we were in the loft room and downside of heritage building is sound insulation was quite poor. We could clearly hear the TV from next door. The room was also on top of the restaurant so we heard sounds from there all day, as well as the loud clinking of metal cutlery from clean up after dinner - personally not a fan of the shutter window in the bathroom as moths and bugs manage to find their way in even with it shut - limited car parking at both the top and lower carparks which have easy access into the building. This meant during evenings restaurant guests occupied many spaces, leaving hotel guests to park in overflow and having to carry our bags
