My stay at Mount Cook View Motel in Fox Glacier was really enjoyable. Matthew and Hannah are very friendly and welcoming hosts, and make you feel at home right from the start. The accommodation is first class with all of the essential amenities provided within a very comfortable and modern motel room. The motel itself is within a short driving distance to the main attraction of the area including Lake Matheson, Lake Gault, Gillespies Beach and the Fox Glacier views. I would recommend Mount Cook View Motel to anyone who just wants a few nights at Fox Glacier, or like me would like to spend a week surrounded by the stunning mountain scenery of the West Coast.

Beautiful motel, nicely located close to the town centre meant everything was just minutes away. The room itself was very spacious and the beds were more than comfy. The view of Mount Tasman and Mount Cook from the room was to die for. The covered car parking just next to the house was an added bonus. The laundry was just a unit away making it very accessible. The two friendly dogs - Tarn and Beamish - were the centre of attraction for our kids who loved playing with them all day long. We have some very fond memories of this place. The staff was very warm, helpful and proactive in restocking the items even before we asked them which was in complete contrast to our experience in so many other places in NZ. Overall, this might be the best motel in the Fox Glacier and we certainly are looking forward to staying here on our next trip.

We had a really warm welcome with all the information we required to make the most of the area. The kitchen was well equipped. The beds were comfy and the room serviced every day. The heaters soon warmed up the room when the evening got a bit chilly. The glow worm walk was enchanting. Best done at dusk while the path is still visible so the light from a torch doesn't mask them.

Nothing to do with the motel but Mount Cook was shrouded in cloud the whole time we were there so we didn't get a good view of it. Fox glacier has receded so far that after a good walk it was still not visible. As there was a breeze, ripples on Lake Matheson meant there was no reflection of the mountains. It is a good hike up to Lake Gault with a lot of up hill. The only negative of the accommodation was the settee was not very comfortable as it had lots of lumps and hollows.

We had a fantastic stay at Mt Cook View Motel! The location is ideal, with beautiful views of the snowy mountains and perfect weather to enjoy them. The owner was incredibly amiable, going above and beyond by preparing our room in advance—he even turned on the heater and lights to welcome us, making it feel cozy right from the start. We appreciated the flexibility with check-in and check-out times, which made our stay even more relaxing. The room was spacious and well-equipped with a heater and an electric blanket, perfect for the chilly evenings. Parking was a breeze, right in front of our room. The owner also suggested a great spot to visit nearby, which really made our trip memorable. We highly recommend Mt Cook View Motel for its warm hospitality, convenience, and incredible mountain views!

This. Otel exceeded our expectations. It was well placed just outside of town to be silent with little to no passing traffic at night. The staff were lovely, the room was spotless and the room size was … large! Comfy settee in the room topped off the comfort score. The motel is set an easy and flat footpath walk 25 minutes into town or a 2. Inure drive. The view from our window was gorgeous. We stayed two nights and could easily have stayed a week. Well done to the current managers of the property.

I'm very grateful and appreciative of the lovely reception lady, whose name is Renata. I left my headphones in the bed and realised it only the next day, when we were hundreds of miles away. I wrote to the motel and got a response immediately. The lady promised to send the headphones back to my UK address! I was very happy as the headphones were a gift from my brother. I offered to pay for the delivery, but when I got it, it turned out the postage had already been made. I was really amazed at the great service! We also loved the location of the motel, and the views were magnificent.

The room furnishings were quite basic, and the bathroom and kitchen were not as well equipped as in the other places we stayed in at the same or lower price.

Great location - set slightly outside of town but with wonderful countryside views. Good cycle / walk path by motel. Nice seating area out back of room. Bathroom new and amazing with lots of space and great places for wash bags etc. Good kitchen area and everything one could need. Clean and cosy room for the 3 of us. Easy to access township and great eatery - Betsy Jane as well as Lake Matheson and glacier lookout point.

Could do with a couple of towel hooks near shower to avoid dripping on floor to reach them. Everything else great

If the term "Serentity" ever suited a location, it's the Mount Cook View Motel, the Motel's setting in Fox Glacier is at the base of Mount Cook. The Mount Cook View Motel is a one minute drive from the highway down a Dead End Road, so there is no passing traffic noise. The motel has a ranch/farm like setting in a unique leafy & grassy enviroment that leaves (not meant as a pun) you feeling at one with the environment & nature. The silence is almost deafening as you try & take in all the spectacular surroundings of snow capped peaks, clouds snagged on jagged mountain tops, in a spacious farmland retreat. Anyone trying to escape the hustle & bustle of the city, anyone who wants to write their own Tolstoy "War & Peace" novel or just wants to escape from the kids for a quite weekend. Well this is the place for that. Fox Glacier town has restaurants, shops & stores, all that one needs for a weekend away with nature. We had a cabin type apartment, seperate bedroom, bathroom, kitchen & backyard patio with views you just have to experience to believe. All that & with parking at the door & an attached laundry next door. SENERITY NOW.

We choose this hotel because of the proximity of our next day's early morning helicopter glacier tour. The rooms are big and can easily accommodate 3-4 people per room. The parking is in front of each room. The facilities are satisfactory. The view of the Mt. Cook is open. The sky is spectacular for this town. You need a car to go to the town center quickly.

The power outlets are limited. We arrived very late, near midnight on New Year's Eve; the front could have communicated more efficiently to update us on our check-in. However, the keys were left at the doors.

When we first walked in, we thought it looked miserable. Brown curtains, brown bedspread but despite this it was comfortable, quiet and clean. The receptionist was very, very helpful. We had two rooms with kitchenette so plenty of room. Chairs outside to sit and look up at the mountains. A drive away from the nearest restaurant and shops (unless you really like a good walk after dinner). It's a typical New Zealand motel. Washing and drying machines on site. No stairs to climb.
