The motel was conveniently located in the small town of Franz Josef, within walking distance to all activities. We were fortunate enough to experience a short helicopter tour, but unfortunately, our 2.5-hour heli-hike tour was canceled due to weather conditions. We also enjoyed a behind-the-scenes tour at the Wildlife Center, though heavy rain prevented us from doing any of the short hikes we had planned. The hotel room was clean, but quite small for two beds, with little space to store suitcases other than on the second bed. On the plus side, the kitchenette was well-equipped with everything necessary for meal preparation. Overall, it was a good stay for a reasonable price, and we would recommend it for anyone looking to explore the Franz Josef area!

The room was too small for two beds. There was barely enough space to move around, and it was challenging to eat comfortably. Only one chair could fit at the table, so the second person had to sit on the bed while eating, which was quite inconvenient. It would have been much more comfortable if the room had only one double bed.

The location of this hotel is perfect! It's within walking distance of the grocery store, restaurants, stores, and several attractions. There are also gorgeous views all around. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful; they informed us of the closing times of the restaurant and grocery store, and were also very informative regarding road closures. Bathroom was very clean and a small kitchen area was in the room as well. The beds were very comfortable and even had mattress heaters for both of them!

The room had a twin bed and a queen, but was too small to have both as well as room for luggage. There was also no way to indicate that we did not want the room serviced (i.e. a privacy sign). The parking lot is very small, so compact cars would work best.

Great location: walking distance from bus stop, restaurants, supermarket, kiwi center, helicopter rides, glacier and glowworm hikes. The host was quite helpful in providing hike suggestions and restaurant opening times as we arrived on Christmas day. Spacious living room for family activities. The coffee (Robert Harris) provided was particularly nice, much better than those in 4-star hotels later on our trip. Milk was provided from a glass bottle at the reception.

Shower head is fixed on the wall. The shampoo and shower gel provided, while it was usable, however it didn't feel nice, we ended up using our own. The cooking plate was weak, it took a while to heat up a pan or boil vegetables.

Location is walking distance to everything in Franz Josef. Bella Vista has its own parking lot but even if it's by some chance full, there's tons of easy to find parking on the street. It was cool to have Kea birds right outside. We received some nice advice and recommendations from the staff, super nice! Overall, this place met our needs for our stay in Franz Josef.

The room was pretty small as it took a little strategic reorganizing to allow our suitcases to open up.

The location is brilliant - close to all restaurants and flights companies. The room wasn't huge but it was as described. Also it was clean and tidy.

We had a ventilation outlet in the room ceiling just above the bed/pillows, and it was runing during the night and the air was flowing to our heads on the bed. That was a little bit disturbing.

Good location - close to the kiwi wildlife centre. Parking outside. Easy check in despite arriving late. Friendly staff. Good WiFi. Fridge. You can borrow dvds here also. Very clean.

Compact room - barely space for 2 large suitcases either space to walk around. The guy who helped us in suggested we keep them in the car.

Very warm and comfortable…great location, walk to cafes etc. could park at door. Pleasant staff..great views of mountains. Warm heater. Good kitchen.

The shower water went all over the floor, we had the accessible unit , the bathroom was awkward, no shelf for toilet bags. We Put them on the floor and they got wet.! Poor TV channel selection.

The room was very well appointed, very clean and perfect location. The laundry facilities were perfect and parking plentiful for all the guests. The staff were exceptional, providing us with several tips to maximise our stay.

Our two bedroom unit did not have the room for three individuals to place or open cases.

The motel room was a good size for 3 of us, with the twin beds in a separate bedroom. Everything was lovely and clean, with all the normal motel additions - coffee, tea, plenty of towels including coloured ones for the teenager removing her makeup! However, the best thing about this property was Jo, our Manager - what a total asset she is!! Nothing was any trouble, she was a font of knowledge about the local area and helped us make Franz Josef a couple of days we won’t forget!!

Everything was as expected, however, the only small gripe is how low the shower is! I am 5ft4in and could only just get under it. The 6ft hubby had to kneel down!!

Staff on reception were extremely helpful. Rooms was comfortable and motel relatively modern, and in easy walking distance from food / attractions. Extra discount on the Waiho hot tubs too which were excellent

The room was fine but kind of small when stuck in a bit more due to heavy rain. The laundry room was good but only open for some hours of the day, no drying area for things that can't go in the dryer.
