The hotel is very new, everything is clean tidy and easy on the eye. The front door girl was very lovely, which is always the most important part of every hospitality interaction. The giant bed was extra comfortable, the hot shower had great pressure, room was vert warm even though very high ceilings. so overall we had very comfortable stay.

Were woken up before 6am by the loading forklifts in the neighbouring supermarket. Pity our windows were facing that way. I'm sure if you're not a tired parent that has a treat night off for a sleep in it will be a minor.

we had an apartment with a separate entry and it was awesome. The character of the place was great, having kept the vault door in the bedroom made it really unique. The decor in the lobby and the historical artefacts of Oamaru was really interesting. The breakfast concept also suited us very well. All in all, it’s a very well designed boutique hotel with very nice and attentive staff. Definitely worth the stop.

The washing machine was too “jumpy” and would require stabilizing. However that was really minor and having the ability to wash our clothes was a real plus.

It provided a unique and artistic style which I had never experienced before! The bedding and room was very clean and well-kept. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The elevator, albeit slow, was interesting. After you dropped your bags, the short stairwell out onto the street remedied this. Also useful for getting back to your room quickly in the evening.

We didn't know where to park at first, an automated message and/or a pre-arrival pdf guide would help. The accommodation may shock you a bit with its still, and it may not feel like a hotel per se, but it was absolutely fine and very comfortable.

I liked everything, but it would have been great if the lounge/lobby area was open/accessible beyond 8pm….. just to have an hour later when you got back from dinner to chill would have been great, but it was all locked up at 8pm …..

Great place with a Steam punk feel. Room was clean and tidy even supplied with ear plugs - presumably because the room overlooked SH1 - but i didn't use them and didn't need them (despite being close to SH1 there is very little noise). Breakfast was continental but good selection and plenty available. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. There are lots of different memorabilia hung on the walls.

on the second night there was a party of Asian (possibly Japanese?) people in the hotel who were very noisy and brought food back to their rooms which the smell came into ours. Not the hotels fault,but perhaps there should be a restriction on hot meals in the rooms?

Lovely rooms!! We had a very comfortable stay - really enjoyed the leather couch and chair and the decor was awesome! Everything beautifully clean and tidy. The host was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again.

Nothing really. Some actual onsite parking would be good but because of its location it isn’t possible - however parking outside on the street is free after 5pm til 10am and otherwise the countdown carpark is very close anyway.

What a lovely hotel! Beautifully decorated, and filled with amazing art! We booked the apartment, which is totally worth it, as it includes a kitchenette, comfy sofa, separate entrance with its own parking space, and separate bedroom. The bathroom was also huge, with 2 sinks. LOVED IT! There is also an incredible lounge to sit and read or have some complimentary tea or coffee. Staff goes above and beyond to help and provide tips, everyone very friendly and positive. Breakfast is continental, but very well presented. They even had a whole separate celiac toaster for me! We are not big breakfast eaters, so this was plenty for us. Perfect location, right in the middle of everything, we walked everywhere. Immaculately clean too.

Beautifully presented room with plenty of natural light. Comfortable bed and a living space with nice big couch to laze on and interesting books to peruse. The breakfast room had many choices and pleasant to be in. Loved all the beautiful indoor plants and quirky decor throughout!

Everything. Second booking in 2 weeks, different room but again classy, quirky detailing which made it fun to stay in. The hotel is a one-off and should be cherished. Superb value for money, great location and friendly knowledgeable staff. Worth travelling back to NZ just to stay there.

my plans meant I only stayed one night but would have loved to have stayed longer. Really unique hotel, lovely owners and staff, and great location (I had a penguin watch booked which was easily drivable and even walkable). Breakfast is help yourself, you can make toast, there’s an array of fruit, yogurt, cereal too. Parking is available on street on in the supermarket car park out the back. Street parking is free after 5pm.

No complaints! Was a lovely stay.
