Very nice property facing the water. The rooms are a decent size. Wasn’t too far into town (taxis aren’t cheap though). The breakfast spread is impressive and tasty.

The walls are paper thin so you can hear a lot of what happens next to you. It’s a bed and breakfast rather than a hotel. So there are no lifts, you have to traverse the stairs which people with mobility issues might want to consider. No clothes washing facilities.

If I could give this place a 20 out of 10 I would!! It is the most gorgeous place I have been to. The breakfast had a lot of options you could think of, from breads, cerals, hot food, cold meats, fruits, to name a few! The lady who owns the hotel is the most amazing woman I have ever met. She helped me with booking taxi's, getting the bus timetables for me, to even heating up my dinner that I had purchased from the supermarket. There were massage chairs that I sat in for hours as I went in the low season of Winter and there wasn't many people staying there. The views from my room were absolutely gorgeous and easy to view the Northern lights from when they made an appearance. The whole place was so cosy and comfortable, not to mention very warm inside the whole place. There were amazing chocolates on the bottom floor which were also to die for, the bed was so comfortable and soft and I could of laid in it forever. I am recommending Altafjord to everyone I know and I definitely want to come back for Midnight summer.

Everything was perfect.

I was alone....though my room did not face the lake but it was still very nice. It had two open areas with comfy sofas and two massage chairs which I used a lot. The breakfast was amazing. The views were incredible. The fact that you can always have tea , coffee and a biscuits on no charge was really nice. It was only 20 mins walk from centrum which had amazing views. The gold explorer for the northern light do a pick up directly from the house Both ladies at the reception was very sweet.

My check in started at 1pm only but I had arrived at 12 noon. It was fine but It would have nice to let me in at 12 noon into the common areas atleast :-/ It was cold to wait outside. Basically the place locks you out till you a get a pin-code at 1pm.

The facilities were great; the views were beautiful. They had an excellent breakfast spread as well. It was easy to get into the facilities and the hotel room. Taxis were also easy to get from the location. City center I'd say is walking distance from the location as well.

There wasn't much to do in that exact location (e.g. restaurants or bars). I wish they had some snacks available or more front desk hours for us to buy snacks and beverages. The front desk hours are limited not that we were in our room much.

The breakfast went WAY beyond expectations! And the host, Siv, is an absolutely wonderful person who personally goes out of her way to ensure that guests are happy and comfortable. And the view from my room.... holy smokes it was amazing. Oh, and the massage chairs are pretty darn excellent.

Most of the TV channels didn't work, and it was a bit of a pain scrolling through the channels to see what worked and what didn't. That said, I wasn't in Alta to watch television. Also, I wish someone would have warned me to rent a car because taxis are not cheap and walking to town can take a while along some busy roads. Next time I will, without question, rent a car... that way I'll also have access to the surrounding hillsides for better views of the northern lights and easy access to other towns.

Wow, lovely big room, the host likes her decor, she has filled the place with beautiful things. It's a small place and busy, for good reason. The morning spread was also fantastic, catering for the Europeans but also eggs and bacon for me. The nicest place I've stayed so far on my trip. And the view out the dinning room windows...fantastic

Hosts are not on site all the time, but it didn't seem to matter. I didn't see a kettle in my room, but there are two available, one on each floor at their own station.

This has been one of the best experience on my trip through Sweden, Finland and Norway. The place has so much good taste on decoration, the views are amazing and the rooms cozy, clean and well equiped. Breakfast was excelent and with great variety. It is very well located, you can easily walk to the city center and also have groceries store close by. If you dont feel like walking you can order food from few restaurants directly to the hotel. The best was without doubt the staff, helpfull and kind, made my stay felt like home. I have been in lots of hotels in my life and this will keep a place in my hearth. Absolutely recomended.

I should have stayed more days.

Ambience and pleasant interior design with a variety of places to sit at different levels, the view, very good breakfast.

A message about how to get into the building was sent via phone app a few minutes before expected arrival time - we were not informed in advance that this would be the process and as we did not have the phone on we were left outside the building unaware of how to get in. Door between the bedroom and bathroom would not readily stay shut and the escutcheon had a screw missing.

The location was amazing, and so were the facilities. The staff was very friendly. The 8-course dinner was tasty.

There was a lot of construction going on; the sauna and wellness area were under construction and inaccessible. The 8-course dinner had very small portions. We had to go to another restaurant in the city after to eat more. One small detail to note: there were flowers in vases placed in various areas, and the water in the vases was almost white because the staff did not change it. This was a bit off-putting and somewhat unpleasant.

The breakfast was the best we have experienced in Scandinavia in the past 2 months. Lots of fresh fruits a wide selection for most nationalities and well presented. Good sized room with a view out over the fjord. Parking is free and easy. WiFi is fast and reliable throughout the building. Beds are comfortable and big. Blackout curtains are reasonable and necessary in the summer but a non sea view room is a bit darker as it is shaded from the midnight sun.

Checking in was a problem as the place is not attended by the host most of the time. We were sent an access code by email but without Internet during the drive to the hotel we couldn't access the building or a room. Other guests were also standing around waiting for access. There is no desk in the room so we had to set up the laptop in the shared lounge. This was not really a problem as the lounge was small but not busy.
