We really loved this place. It is located in the old part of town, which is a really beautiful historic area, cobblestone paths and lovely old buildings. It is below a very steep mountain with Incan ruins on it, visible from the hotel. The building is surrounded by a lovely garden, with tons of hummingbirds and other birds. I loved sitting on our upstairs porch and watching the birds and admiring the view and sitting in peace and quiet. The room was comfortable and nice too. We also really enjoyed talking to all of the staff, especially Leo. He was extremely helpful and kind and we had lots of good conversations. The hotel sent a helper to bring our suitcases from the main square, since it is a walking path and not a road outside the hotel. So it is easy to get there with luggage. The cobblestone path is a little bumpy, so if you have a lot of trouble walking, or use a cane or something, maybe that could be a problem for you. And if you want to go to the train station to go to Machu Picchu or elsewhere, you can easily get a tuktuk from the main square so you can get there more quickly. It's very cheap to get a tuk tuk. There are many restaurants in the main square and surrounding areas. You can walk to the main ruins easily, and there are also the ruins high above the hotel. There is also an interesting market with tourist stuff near the main ruins. So everything is very close and convenient. I was sorry I did not stay here longer. We moved on to Urubamba, but Ollantaytambo is much more historic and interesting. I would have loved to have more days wandering around this town and enjoying the garden at the hotel.

Nothing, loved this place

The breakfast had a great variety of fruit, yogurt and granola, as well as an omelet cooked to order. The orange juice was fresh squeezed, and delicious. It exceeded our expectations! The location of the grounds was AMAZING!! We had a great view of many ruins. The lodge Is nestled at the base of one of the huge mountains. Such a BEAUTIFUL location!! The grounds were covered in many different flowers, and a large variety of fruit trees. We enjoyed relaxing in the hammocks, enjoying the tranquility. We also loved how close it was to the town square. We highly recommend staying here the night before going to Machu Pichu, to allow for a shorter train ride, than if you came from Cusco. It breaks up the trip. If you can, stay at least 2 nights!!

A couple of our guests received bug bites from what looked like tiny ants, which we found on the bed. We let them know, and I trust they will make sure the area Is treated.

We stayed here for 5 nights as we wanted to acclimatise before our main tours at higher altitude. Apu Lodge was the perfect place to stay, with its serene gardens and mountain views, just 5 minutes walk from the main square. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, with good English. Breakfast was freshly prepared, with 3 options of tropical fruits each day, eggs, fresh bread, cereals and a variety of drinks. Free coca tea and filtered water was available at all times. The room was spacious and comfortable with a small balcony overlooking the archaeological site and mountains. Highly recommended.

This hotel (and the village) are THE BEST places to stay before visiting Machu Picchu. Seriously, just don't pass through Ollantaytambo, stay here for a few days! A taxi from Cusco Airport is only 140 soles and takes 1h40min. And you're halfway to MP too. The room was very clean and comfortable. Wifi worked perfectly well. Breakfast was simple compared to hotels, but it was very nice and had all we wanted (cereal, eggs, bread and coffee). The day we went to MP we needed an earlier breakfast and staff was very kind to arrange this. Talking about staff, they were VERY friendly and helpful. 5min walk to the main square. The hammocks in the garden are a nice added bonus.

The lane where the hotel is located does not allow cars, make sure to arrange with the hostel staff to have your bags taken to the hotel- if they are heavy it's hard to carry them all the way because of the rocky street (and altitude, of course). They very kindly provide the service.

Stunning, charming location! Wonderful staff! Delicious breakfast! We felt comfortable and safe here during our stay. The grounds were beautiful and so inviting, as well! We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends.

It's important to note that the lodge is tucked away in a small corner of the town, down a cobblestone street. You have to be able to walk and carry/wheel your luggage after being dropped off from a more accessible street. The bathroom did have some moths and ants throughout our stay - but that's because the lodge is situated in the mountains and a small bathroom window remains open for air flow.

The property is quaint tucked up against the mountains and close to the town square and some beautiful site seeing is basically right at your door. Very close to the train station as well. Our room was perfect traveling with 2 adult children. There were 3 beds in our room with still plenty of room. The staff could not have been any nicer. Breakfast was delicious.

Our taxi that brought us from Cusco dropped us in the town Square because he was unable to drive us right to the hotel because it is tucked up into this maze of cobblestone streets. We had to carry our bags to our hotel that was still about 3/10 of a mile away and uphill, which was tough to do because of the cobblestone. We should have called the hotel to have them assist us in getting our luggage to them.

The beautiful property with a wonderful garden and mountain views is situated just minutes away the the center square. Quiet and secluded and just a short walk on a narrow cobblestone lane to restaurants, markets, etc. The Lodge is rustic, spotlessly clean, with very comfortable rooms and warm/welcoming staff. Fantastic value.

My only regret is that I didn’t have more time there. After having just completed a five day Salkantay trek to MP, this was like an oasis.

The Apu Lodge is a charming little place tucked up in the old part of Ollamtaytambo. It's a bit of a walk over cobblestones, but they will help you with your luggage if you need it. Our room was on the second floor, so we could open the balcony doors every night to gather the breeze and admire the view of the mountains and the ruins. There's a beautiful garden surrounding the lodge, with seating. Breakfast was made to order. If you're used to the Hilton, this might be considered rustic, but the peace and quiet and views made the experience in this lovely little town part of the experience.

It was all positive.

The hotel is located in the old part of a village and has its charm. The territory is green and well-maintained. We had our trip to Machu Picchu early in the morning, and they arranged an early breakfast for us. Our room had a nice view of the mountains.

It is about a 10 min walk to the hotel from a point where the taxi drops you off. Since it is a narrow cobblestone street, it is impossible to roll your luggage, so we carried it. It is not a big deal, just for your awareness.

Really good location down a small quiet lane on the edge of the town but only a 5 minute walk to the main square. Our room had a small balcony and a comfortable bed. Breakfast was good if simple, eggs, bread, juice coffee, preserves etc. They will set out an early breakfast if you are going early to Machu Picchu or heading off elsewhere. Hospitable staff and all in all a good choice in Ollantaytambo

Nothing really. It was just what we wanted and ass expected
