A very pleasant place to spend a few days. Very homey as it’s not a big hotel (pousada) - this also allowed for a friendlier, relaxed relationship with the staff. The room was extremely comfortable as well as large with a magnificent view of the castle that overlooks the town. The swimming pool is extremely pleasant and a refreshing end for some of the hot days we had. Breakfast was excellent in a cosy room and service impeccable.. In the afternoon we were able to order a tasty platter of cold meats and cheese (see photo).

The steep climb from the town to return to the hotel (a minor inconvenience, to be sure) - a taxi was not an expensive alternative.

Loved our room & the view of the gardens, swimming pool & castle. Staff were very nice & helpful.

I asked for an Accessible room as I have a walking disability & also use a wheelchair. Although our room was great the bathroom wasn’t. There were no Barb handles in the shower so the only surface to hold on to was the edge of the shower screen. There was no soap/shampoo holder or dispenser which meant we had to put these on the floor. However, when I told the receptionist staff about this they took it on board & came to the room to have a look. Hopefully these issues will soon be remedied. Access to the pool wasn’t easy and was through the dining/breakfast room and ramps were steep. No access to the lounge, only stairs with no hand rail.

We were warmly welcomed to the hotel by a lovely helpful receptionist. The staff who work there are all very friendly and work very hard to make your stay as pleasant as possible. The hotel is a lovely Pousada with Portuguese charm which we love. Our room was very spacious with a good sized terrace and a beautiful view to the castle. Spotlessly clean and good facilities with a comfy bed. Good location for the old quarter and castle about 4 minutes drive or about 25 minutes walk. On site parking great. Many thanks for a perfect one night stay.

Nothing not to like but some coffee and tea making facilities in room would be good. Typically English!

The view of the castle from the private balcony was stunning. The pousada is within walking distance of the town- easy on the way down but lots of steps on the way back! Breakfast is an elaborate affair, where you are equipped with your own tongs to handle the food. The selection of food was amazing and there were even hot options for those who wanted something substantial. The room was lovely and spacious and the decor and furniture had the look of being slightly dated. It was spotlessly clean and there were lots of public areas to sit and relax. The restaurant had been given a Michelin star.

We didn’t try the restaurant, despite the Michelin star, because it was too expensive. I‘m sure that it would have been excellent though.

This is a superbly comfortable hotel with lovely views, a really nice swimming pool with free bar, a fantastic breakfast and really friendly and thoughtful staff. We had a lovely week. We had a very early start on the day we left (5.30 am) and the staff prepared us a packed breakfast and coffee - which is something I have never encountered before. This is an expensive hotel but really worth it.

I would change nothing. All was great.

All the staff we encountered were incredibly friendly, particularly with our 2.5 year old daughter. We didn't want to eat the full tasting menu in the restaurant, but the chef made us up some bar snacks instead and then chatted with us for ages, which made us feel very welcome. The pool is also very comfortable and the whole garden is set in a beautiful setting. The room had an excellent view of the castle and was very quiet in the evening.

Nothing - everything was great!

The location of the hotel was perfect with a fantastic view overlooking the castle. The staff were very pleasant, 1 in particular who went out of his way to accommodate us in every way possible. His name was Ivandro. I have given 4 stars for this hotel but it should be 3. Ivandro was the 4th star. The breakfast was good. The bedroom clean, comfortable and big but dated.

Our expectations on this hotel because of the price were not met. The price at 197 per night B&B was way to high for the out dated decor and overall state of the building. The main building windows were covered in mould plus the inside walls were scuffed in a lot of places. I believe the price reflects the position of this hotel in this small town.

It was the same as the last time we stayed……big rambling place with zero charm

The restaurant was a joke for evening meal….two menue slices….93€ or 230€……what….? We challenged the choice…or lack of it….Michelin starred Chef? Bin the chef and get real…..we ate in town with all the other guests…. No sure what planet these people are on but they have lost the plot… We want and expect a reasonable meal at a reasonable price….on site…not scouting the suburb’s for alternative….. They have no understanding of separate beds…..twin bedded rooms…after many e mails to explain….. Nice big building that needs managing

The view from the room's balcony was really fantastic - rigth at the hill with the fortress and old town of Braganca. It was a relatively short walking distance to town. The hotel's restaurant was arleady fully booked when we arrived but we had no problem to find an excellent restaurant in walking distance from the hotel. Our kids loved the pool and gardens, including the free snacks at the bar. It was a great first stop for us in Portugal after a long drive. The breakfast buffet was really excellent, especially the variety of regional cheese and fruits.

Nothing to complain.

The hotel is located within easy walking distance of the town centre. It has its own car park right at the front of the hotel. The room was spacious, well equipped and with great views of the town, castle and countryside beyond. The hotel is a wonderful place to stay with seating areas located at various places inside and out. The breakfast was superb with a fantastic range of hot and cold food and beverages.
