. sea view is spectacular as we were upgraded from the garden room to sea view room .. very quiet location. Staff are very helpful.. beautiful scenery.. fantastic location.. fantastic grounds & period house.. nothing was any bother.. breakfast was absolutely superb. Hubster had the full Scottish & I had the cheese omelette .. very tasty & a full plate of delish food.. Spot on & spotlessly clean , .. garden was well looked after.. .. Deffo wanting to return... & The best part was the whole building was central heated .our room was lovely & warm .. shower was hot, bathroom very clean .. access to Wi~ fi.. & TV , fully stocked tea coffee, sugar, milk,& herbal teas & biscuits.. the layout of our room was perfect.. 2 little chairs & a table near the window so we had a perfect view of the sea, & boats & ships & birds.. just loved every moment of our stay... Lovely house with nice ambience, felt like home, incredible view from the nice breakfast room. Breakfast was nice,. Brendan, the host, was very welcoming and helpful. Bedroom was at the back of the house and was very quiet the bed was comfortable and pillows were nice also the room was nicely warm. The ensuite was nice and clean, but some obese people would maybe have difficulties in moving around in it but this wasn't an issue for us, I can also see that there is no possibility of making the ensuite bigger. Conclusion Lovely house, Nice host enjoyed our comfortable stay here.

Could have enjoyed a longer stay here but we had to catch the ferry.

We arrived a bit later than check-in time but Brendan was very accommodating and welcoming. The location by the waterfront is amazing and the room itself was so nice and clean. We particularly loved how the room had a number of extra items for anyone travelling such as a sewing kit, scissors, tape, playing cards, cotton buds and makeup wipes - very well kitted out with little things that people might forget. The bed was so comfortable and breakfast was simply perfect - just what you need to start the day. Television in the room was a tiny wee thing on the wall but we weren't there to watch TV so it didn't detract from our stay. We will absolutely be back whenever we're in the area again.

Absolutely everything about our stay was wonderful. The view from the front door was absolutely beautiful, and hearing the water hit the rocks was so lovely first thing when you wake up and walk out onto the road. The rooms were incredibly comfortable and cosy! It felt like a home away from home. The way the owners have decorated is wonderful! It's full of art and colour, really lovely to walk into. I had such a good night's sleep here, it was so quiet and warm. Which is rare in hotels/b&b! The breakfast in the morning was really yummy, we really enjoyed it. We did have to leave a day early unfortunately, and in a rush packing we left a few items. The owners were really sweet and posted them down to us at no cost, which we really really appreciate. I truly recommend Briar Brae if you're staying in Stranraer. The owners are so lovely and hospitable, and made us feel extremely welcome and comfortable. They also gave us some great recommendations for our day, which included traveling to Wigtown and Galloway Forest! We did stay in another hotel whilst staying in Stranraer before heading to Briar Brae, and it didn't even come close to how comfortable and cosy it was here! We will definitely be staying again if we are up in Stranraer!

We have recently enjoyed an excellent three night stay at 'Briar Brae', with our very genial host Brendan providing us with lovely tasty breakfasts made to order each morning - we chose to have the porridge on one day and the cheese omelette for the other two, and in addition to the cereal, yoghurts, fruit and toast on offer, the meals set us up very well for the day ahead. We found Brendan to be welcoming and friendly, and nice to talk to about our plans for holidaying in the area. The views from our bedroom windows were stunning, and the table and chairs in our lovely big room were positioned perfectly for us to gaze out across the bay. As the house is located in a cul-de-sac it meant we also enjoyed a peaceful stay. The off-road parking at the side of the property was an added bonus for us too. We would certainly love to stay at 'Briar Brae' again, should we visit Stranraer in the future.

Fantastic, peaceful location overlooking Loch Ryan, you could hear the waves lapping on the shore and watch the gannets and terns diving into the sea from the bedroom window. Lovely big bedroom with table and chairs by the window to enjoy the tranquil view. Coastal footpath ran along the front of the property. Brendan our host was great with helpful suggestions. Lovely choice of breakfasts.

Amazing location over looking the sea. Amazing breakfast, the omelette was wonderful. The hosts were a pleasure, very kind and peaceful. I was in the area for a wedding and Brendan gave me a ride to the location so I didn't have to take a taxi! So generous and kindly let me stay a little past checkout so I could get my hair sorted! The bed was very big and comfortable, everything was spotlessly clean, I couldn't have asked for anything more :-D

Fantastic location for close proximity to the ferry. Very supportive & friendly hosts. Spotlessly clean room and surrounding facilities. Wonderful breakfast. Excellent value for money. Would definitely recommend to family & friends; and would certainly stay here again.

There was nothing to not like. This definitely was a far better location to stay than others I had used in the area.

The location was stunning, easy to find and with off-road parking. Just a short drive from the Cairnryan ferry port. The host, Brendan, was welcoming (and made us a cup of tea on arrival). Breakfast was freshly made to order and delicious. The room was clean, fresh and bright. Great choice of teas and coffee with biscuit accompaniment. The bed was comfortable and we slept well.

The fact that we were only here for one night!

We had an early ferry to catch, so were not expecting breakfast. However on arrival we were asked when we would require breakfast, and when we said 5.30am, we were told that this was fine, provided we filled in our order form the previous evening. There was a wide choice of food available. We both opted for cheese and spring onion omelettes and they were delicious. Choice of cereals, fruit, jams, marmalade etc, available on the buffet table too. Toast was provided too.

It was perfect for our requirments. There was no private car park that we could see, but the property was situated on a quiet road, and there was plenty of parking on the road outside the bed and breakfast.
