Riff Hikkaduwa connects everything we have ever wanted from a hotel. The food served in all three restaurants was excellent. You could even try local Sri Lankan cuisine. The staff was super friendly and professional. Our room (Presidential Suite) was spacious, comfortable and well-equipped We had a breathtaking infinity pool on the balcony with a great view of the Indian Ocean.

Our stay at Riff Hikkaduwa was absolutely unforgettable! From the moment we arrived, we were surrounded by warm hospitality and impeccable service. The hotel’s location is perfect—right on a beautiful beach with stunning ocean views. The rooms are spacious, modern, and thoughtfully designed, ensuring maximum comfort. The food at the restaurant was simply amazing—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The live music in the evenings created a wonderful atmosphere, making every dinner a special experience. A highlight of our stay was the unique opportunity to release newborn turtles into the ocean—a truly magical and memorable moment. Thank you to the entire team at Riff Hikkaduwa for making our last stop in Sri Lanka so special. We will definitely be back and highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a perfect beach getaway!

We liked the room and the view, the restaurants, the placement by the beach and the staff, all of the staff where exeptional, we had an extra connection with Benisha who fixed a birthdaycake and who we had good conversation with trough out the stay and Nuwan, the last night we had forgot to reserve a table and we wanted to sit outside, so he fixed us a table on the top restaurant with the menu from the ground floor restaurant, this was super service and top problemsolving, made our last dinner memorable. Goverment taxes is put on top of the price that you will se in Booking.com this is highly unusual and I think that its the best to just write the total price right away, tourists just want to know how much they are going to pay pr night and not to where the money is distributed.

Location near one of Sri Lanka's most renowned surfing spots in Hikkaduwa. 25 min drive to beautiful Galle. Rooms are beautiful. Lots of wood elements. The hotel is designed by a famous Sri Lankan architect. One can clearly see it. Especially the area around the pool and the open lobby. Because of the beds and cushions, we had the best sleeping quality in the whole of Sri Lanka. The staff was definitely a highlight. I still can't believe how everytime they see us, they can remember our room number. They were also very attentive and surprised us with a very beautiful cake for our birthday in the rooftop restaurant. The hotel has also a design shop with nice handicrafts and souvenirs. Breakfast was very tasty and had a wide selection of local Sri Lankan and international options. One needs to know that it is forbidden to swim in the beach in front of the hotel. We were lucky that the waves were not so strong but we didn't feel comfortable swimming there. However in the beach section about 10 min walk towards the surf spot, it's more feasible to jump into the water because the beach there doesn't go abruptly deep as in the beach of the hotel.

The glass doors of the bathroom are for design purposes (view on the beach), are however not practical because one needs to open up and close down the curtains everytime one enters the bathroom. We thought food (dinner/lunch, not breakfast) in both hotel restaurants can taste better. The hotel although new looked at some places quite used. But that's a high level critique :)

The Riff is, in our experience, an unusually good hotel for Sri Lanka. Everything was clean and comfortable including the bed. The food is outstanding ( so good that we didn’t actually eat out during our week there ) the breakfast is a real treat. But the best thing about the hotel is most certainly, the brilliant staff - I can’t single any one out as they are all fantastic.

The only slight issue would be the fact that swimming in the gorgeous sea is a no no at this point on the beach. You can however walk just 10 minutes to a calmer spot.

We had a lovely two-night stay at the end of our Sri Lankan adventure, and it was the perfect way to wrap up our trip. The hotel’s design was beautifully thought out, with every angle carefully considered. Breakfast by the stunning pool area was a highlight each morning. The beach area was well-managed, with plenty of beds available, and the attendant was always helpful, bringing complimentary water throughout the day. We even had food delivered to our beach bed—there was a great selection, and prices were reasonable. The rooftop sushi restaurant was absolutely spectacular—delicious food, great prices, and such a good experience that we went back both nights! The staff were fantastic—attentive, helpful, and always greeting us with a smile. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and a perfect end to our trip. If you’re in Hikkaduwa, we’d definitely recommend a stay!

Our room was super comfortable and stylishly done, though the windowed bathrooms didn’t offer much privacy—which was the only small downside.

I enjoyed this hotel so much I kept extending my stay. The rooms were really chic, well-designed, and comfortable. If it wasn't so nice outside, I could've stayed in my room all day. I think they were cleaned twice a day, which is nice if you're dragging in sand or just want to come back to a freshly made bed. The Spa prices are really reasonable. I had one of the best massages of my life there! I left so relaxed and ended up booking a massage every day that I was there. The pool and beach area are really nice. I particularly appreciated the lounge chairs- Even when it was drizzling, I would lay on the beach because it was scenic and I had enough coverage. I would eat lunch at the beach every day, and the lunch menu was really tasty (I especially liked the desserts!) I also liked that it was separated from the busier strips of the beach. That meant that there were fewer people on our stretch of beach. There was also a surf school next door in case you wanted to try a lesson! At night, you can either at the restaurant that is adjacent to the pool (really beautiful view with all of the lights!), or you can also eat at the Japenese restaurant on the roof (indoor and outdoor options). The food was tasty at both places and the presentation of the dishes was lovely! Breakfast had a lot of tasty different options. You will not go hungry! Overall, could not recommend this hotel in Hikkaduwa enough.

The property was exactly what we would have wanted - it has only 32 rooms and allows for an intimate, personalized guest experience. The service was truly exceptional - we had an issue with the room we were given on the first night and the staff more than made up for it and fixed the issue as soon as they were able. I have to say this is the best service I have ever gotten in any hotel I have stayed at. The beach was phenomenal as well - clear waters, not at all too crowded, and we were blessed with great weather as well. I have been to many beaches and resorts at Bali and in Phuket and the like. My experience of both the beach and the property at Riff Hikkaduwa far surpassed all of those experiences. Very highly recommend! My husband and I are already thinking about when we might be able to go back.

Would have appreciated more Sri Lankan food options! Fantastic Sri Lankan options available at breakfast, but more limited options for lunch and dinner.

The Riff exceeded my expectations massively. I have stayed in many hotels worldwide, and this was my favorite by far. The location is stunning, looking at the beautiful beach and ocean below. The quality of food in the hotel was outstanding, and every meal was fantastic. The staff was the fundamental reason my family and I enjoyed the hotel so much. All staff members were friendly and were attentive to our every need. The facilities were excellent; the pool overlooked the beach and was perfect for the warm climate. The rooms were clean, and the cleaning staff was flexible in the hours you wished them to clean your room. We met the owner of the hotel, who was warm and friendly and chatted with us over breakfast. It is truly an outstanding hotel in every aspect, and we will be returning next year!

There was nothing I did not like; my point is more constructive criticism. The hotel holds some events for entertainment. For example, during our stay, there was a cultural night. A notice board in reception with events happening in the hotel would allow guests to know what is happening and plan accordingly.

Everything was great. A Little more extensive than other places but definitely worth every cent. Give yourself a treat and choose this place! The beach is one of the most beautiful beaches at the whole west coast. We did several beach walks and this beach was the only one that was so clean and nice. All the facilities (pool, gym, restaurant …) are very clean and well maintained. The staff was extremely nice and courteous. There is a pool boy taking good care of all the sunbeds, bringing you towels and fresh drinking water every time. Housekeeping takes care of your room twice a day. At the evening they lower the window blinds, refill your drinking water and prepare your bed for sleeping. The best thing was the breakfast. Unbelievable what huge of a choice you get and you can order as much as you want. Everything was really tasty and normally we are very picky about the breakfast offered by hotels. We got a free early check in. We have been treated the perfect way.

I travel 200 days a year, I see many hotels and it doesn’t happen too often, but there is really nothing to complain about at this hotel.
