The breakfast room looked out on a garden patio, which was lovely. The room was decorated in true french fashion. The bath towels were really nice and thick. There were caves at the back of the property, with a sign board explaining their proposed use, and it looked like they were linked to the Castle. Fantastic find, while we were out walking around in the evening. Lots of parking available. Convenient to walk to local tourism sites.

There was a bit of mold/mildew on the bathroom tiles, which should be cleaned; but otherwise totally clean.

The Hotel was just as expected. Our room was in the main house and very quite despite facing the road on the banks of the Loire river. The room was spacious and quite, the walls of the room were dressed with a very nice printed fabrics, the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom well appointed and clean. In the morning we had a very nice and complete breakfast; nothing was missing except the sun which prevented us having our breakfast outside. The staff is very friendly. Not to forget: safe closed parking to leave your car for the night.

Maybe, something to make a cup of coffee / thee in the morning would be nice. For the rest, I thought that the room offered enough comfort.

We loved our stay at Hôtel Le Choiseul. The room was beautifully furnished and decorated and had a stunning view over the Loire River. The decor is getting a bit old and the house itself is old but fabulous. Not a 5 star hotel, but still a wonderful place to stay! The staff were very accommodating and informative. We ate in the restaurant one of the nights and the food was very good. A short stroll into Amboise and very close to the Chateau. One of the day's the sun came out and we took the opportunity to have a swim (I'm sure other guests probably thought we were mad, but we are from NZ we're used to cold water!!). After looking at several of the towns in the Loire, I think Amboise is the best place to stay.

Nothing really, I'd definitely stay here again.

A charming hotel set in the shadow of the ramparts of the Chateau. Great location and plentiful parking. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was not in the main building, so was very quiet. Also spacious. But perhaps a little basic for the price (eg plastic cups in the bathroom, no tea and coffee making facilities in the room and a retro Corby trouser press in the bedroom!). Very nice breakfast and decent bar.

We were there in there in the first week of June and the place felt like it was just waking up at the start of the season. Gardens were a bit overgrown and the pool had not been cleaned. But these are very minor comments.

The Manager/owner was very helpful and friendly. Every morning at breakfast, he would introduce everyone, saying their names and where they were from. This prompted many interesting discussions. His staff were great as well. The premises had been all renovated, with the idea of retaining as much of the original features - marble fireplace, etc. The rooms and bathrooms were large and beautifully decorated and restored. A lot of love went into this place.

The parking was an issue, as the hotel did not have any space for parking. There was a free parking lot quite close, and we were able to always get the last spot.

Very charming property; historical building. Very professional staff .

The food quality was not what we expected, in terms of taste, and size of the portions compared with the price. Some parts of the building should be fixed : main door with poorly repaired woodwork, and not closing easily, bedroom Terrace door, not functioning properly. Seats in the bar area very uncomfortable .

The location of Hotel Le Choiseul right by the river and the town of Amboise was excellent, and it was very easy to walk to the Amboise Chateau Royal and the Da Vinci home Clos Luce. We stayed in our own "cottage" like room #10 on the ground floor with a terrace. The staff were wonderful and had great communication by email before we arrived arranging a taxi to pick us up from the Amboise train station and making a dinner reservation at Le Parvis in advance for the day we arrived. The room was spacious and the air conditioning worked well. We were glad that we chose this hotel.

There was no chef for the buffet breakfast so the eggs were cold.

We've stayed here several times before mainly because of the lovely setting & great restaurant. It's also conveniently located - a short walk into Amboise to see all the sites.

Although Breakfast and Dinner were of reasonable quality, both had reduced in terms of what was on offer in terms of menu and service from previous stays (1997 & 2016).

Our favourite place to stay when in Amboise. The weather was extremely hot so we headed straight for the swimming pool on arrival and were the only guests there until late afternoon. Our room was comfortable and decorated in chic French style. The highlight of our stay was the exceptional dinner in the restaurant which has views over The Loire river.

Parts of the bathroom looked a little tired like the grout and peeling sealant around the bath but it did not detract from our wonderful stay.

Character and vintage style adjacent to the river and a short walk from the centre of town. Excellent breakfast.

Very sad to hear that the hotel is being closed for refurbishment ... I hope it is not 'modernised' the charm of the hotel is the authenticity, albeit a little tired in places
