I had a wonderful stay! I was here for the birds at NWT Cley and it was 10-15 mins walk away (pro top there's a safe footpath the whole way you don't need to walk on the road!). I didn't drive but there was also a car park for patrons. My room itself was large, comfortable, quiet and clean. Crucially for me as an amateur photographer the wifi was excellent so I could edit and publish photos in the evening no problem. The food and drink was great but the friendliness of the staff was what made it - I was a solo traveller but I still felt so at home. Further bonus point for me that it is named after the Norfolk word for the Grey Heron.

Breakfast was excellent ;well cooked and quickly served. After the first evening when we discovered the evening meal was not available on a Tuesday, we ate our evening meal at the Harnser ever evening and the food was plentiful, excellent and very good value for money.(In all fairness, we were rung before we left home to warn us that the bar would be closed on the day we arrived, after 4.00pm.) The owner was very helpful with answers to our questions, eg times of coastal hopper buses. We enjoyed our walks along the North Norfolk coastal footpath and the fantastic views.Out boat trip out to see the seals on Blakeney Point was unforgettable. So quiet; we slept well.
The ONLY thing we didn't like was the entrance to our room up the staircase and the room itself. all in need of a bit of redecorating. But the room was warm, comfortable and clean. Also, it might be better if there was something on the booking form to warn people about the position regarding food on Tuesdays

We first stayed here in December 2022 and loved it so much, we chose to come back to the Harnser for our honeymoon in October 2024. This is honestly such a special place, the hosts - Ronan and Alan (and the dogs!) and the staff, are all fantastic and I want to thank them all for helping to make our honeymoon so lovely! The location is stunning, with an abundance of lovely walking opportunities, bird and nature watching and pretty close to the beach. We stayed in the same room on both of our stays here and couldn't fault it, it was clean and comfy and cosy and to come back to and warm up after spending long days out walking. The breakfasts and dinners at the Harnser were fantastic, both my husband and myself are vegan and we were very well catered for - the menu included veggie, vegan and plenty of gluten free options. And we really appreciated the chef modifying a dish to 'veganise' it for us for dinner one evening. We will definitely be back to stay here again, in one of our favourite parts of the UK and definitely our favourite hotel by far! Thank you all at the Harnser so much, for making our stay so special and for the bottle of prosecco as a parting gift from the hosts, that was a really lovely touch to end our honeymoon!

From the moment we arrived we were made very welcome, Ronan showed us to our room ,explained all the facilities including the heating operation ( it was the middle of January and very cold ) We booked in for an evening meal which was amazing ( Alan you are a truly fantastic cook) , and decided that we would not be going anywhere else for the following night. The staff were brilliant and very friendly and helpful, expect a lot of banter with them all. The place is a hub for the village with the locals coming into for breakfast , lunch and dinner ( Sunday morning there was a table of 7 locals what better recommendation) The village is well worth a wonder around as it was a historical trading port although a quaint back water now, also look around the local grocery shop Picnic Fayre, which produces local made food from the kitchen in the back. All in all cannot recommend the place enough and next time in North Norfolk the only place to stay

Wow! We had a really lovely 7-night stay at The Harnser in Cley, which is a credit to the vision, hard work, dedication, and enthusiasm of the proprietors Alan and Ronan. After a very warm welcome on our first day, we enjoyed a delicious evening meal in the pub and got to know our hosts. They suggested various activities and excursions, and after learning that our pre-booked seal watching trip from Lowestoft had been cancelled, they told us about local firms doing similar trips from Morston, just a couple of miles away. It turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip, and we thoroughly recommend booking a trip with one of the firms at Morston Point. Other activities centred around the numerous National Trust properties and a Shire Horse Sanctuary near Cromer, which was home to all sorts of rescued animals and was free to visit. Our accommodation was very clean, comfortable and airy. We enjoyed three evening meals at the Harnser, and all were outstanding. The sea bass is well recommended! Alan and Ronan really looked after us and made our whole stay so very enjoyable. We will be back, and hopefully, soon!

What an exceptional place to stay. We were heartily welcomed and shown to a delightful room with en suite facilities. The bed was very comfortable and the room quiet. Dinner was very high quality with some very tasty and well made options on the menu. Breakfast also was very, very good. There are some lovely walks out onto the marshes or to the beach. We thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay and will stay there again.
We stayed on a Sunday evening and some items on the menu were not available due to a busy weekend, it did not spoil the stay as there were plenty of other options.

The staff were great. Sense of humour and willingness to do all they could to make our stay comfortable. The beds were very comfortable and we slept very well, better than in more expensive accommodation in North Norfolk. The food was good, breakfast beautifully cooked. Terrific ambiance in the dining room. Lots of happy customers.
There was a small rickety en suite to our room with no heating discernible, a very vocal bathroom door that squealed. The shower cubicle was clean but old fashioned and not very robust. Otherwise, we were happy and capable of overlooking the the shortfall in the bathroom, even Ronan described it as quirky. He was right.

There was a wide variety of breakfasts available which were extremely delicious catering for all tastes. Complete a Harnser breakfast (vegetarian or full English) and you know that it had fuelled your energy levels for the day. The Harnser is the hub of Cley next to the Sea, with customers and locals popping in for a coffee and a bite to eat after an early morning walk. Alan and Ronan are excellent hosts and make everyone welcome to their establishment. As busy as the Harnser can be, it still maintains a cosy relaxing atmosphere of an historical building. It is a dog friendly establishment and the presence of both Reuben and Rocco Frenchies are an inhouse entertainment and always welcome customers entering the premises.
The drive home to Essex in the rain after 4 relaxing days at the HARNSER.

The service is fantastic, really lovely people, so helpful and accommodating. The food is delicious, visiting the restaurant is a must. We tried so many things on the menu and loved them all. The location is just beautiful. It's a beautiful quiet village just a few minutes walk from the sea. Great place to explore on foot. The accommodation is very comfortable, lovely bed and good sized room. Our TV wasn't working at first but they immediately helped to resolve that.
The building is old and charming but it means the floor boards creak and noise travels around. We were woken earlier than we wished due to sounds from other guests and restaurant customers below.

Our time at The Harnser was simply exceptional. Rowan and Alan, along with their French bulldogs, Rocco and Reuben, were great hosts, welcoming us into their world. We instantly felt at home and part of The Harnser family. Cley Next The Sea is a stunning setting. The East Anglian skyline, architecture, and coast are magical. And The Hanser offers a perfect venue from which to explore the area whether you are attracted to its history, scenery, unique shops or a combination of all three. Moreover, it was abundantly clear that Rowan and Alan are so respected in the community. The locals were popping in and out of their beautiful bistro pub for chats, food and drinks all day long. We enjoyed talking with them as we sipped Norfolk gin and tonic. And the breakfasts and dinners at The Harnser are first rate experiences in their own right. Along with the locals, we also had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with many returning guests at the B&B. If you are looking for a relaxing break in this beautiful area, The Hanser can't fail to impress. We left Cley Next To Sea with not only glittering memories, but with our body, mind and spirit very much refreshed. And the thanks go to Rowan, Alan, Rocco and Reuben at their beautiful Harnser. We will be back!
